Hitting Close to Home: Garrett Bolden Takes on MISS SAIGON in Guam

Tuesday, August 02, 2022

This particular achievement is something that hits close to home with Kapuso artist Garrett Bolden, The man who has succeeded to get a flourishing career in singing on The Clash, several GMA shows, here and abroad is now going to play the role of John Thomas, Chris' best friend in hit musical Miss Saigon.

He auditioned for this role and sent a video performance of Bui Doi, which means "A Dust of Life", a term used for babies born in Vietnam who have fathers in US Army/Navy/Airforce service. This wasn't something he expected to happen but once he got a call, he did several auditions and got the role later on. For those who don't know, Garrett Bolden is also a son of a GI, sadly, his Father and Step Mom passed, but glad he now has communication with his siblings that could tell him about their lives.

"When I looked back at my audition, I thought I wasn't going to get the role. When they told me I got it, I was nervous, this is a dream for me. First off, thank you for spending time with me today. You have all been part of my journey, our kapuso here and in Guam. For now I'll be doing a single that will be released soon on GMA Music, you can download Pwede Pa Ba on streaming sites. Let's see each other soon!"

Here's a part of the interview we had with him this afternoon:

Congratulations Garrett Bolden! Break a leg in September when the musical starts. He's leaving August 5 for rehearsals and this will surely change his life. This surely hits close to home with him, and I hope his story inspires more people.

Ronnie Liang in Guam for Independence Day Celebrations

Saturday, June 29, 2019

The last time I saw Ronnie Liang, he was working his way up to the skies literally - as he takes the strides of getting his flight hours while serving to be the face of Aviation Marketing Solutions a couple months back.

Recently, Ronnie Liang attended the 121st independence day celebrations in Guam, USA. He graced the event via the Filipino Community of Guam, an organization made to keep filipino culture i live in the island territory in Micronesia (west pacific). This was held June 22, 2019.

Ronnie laments “I’m so happy to have been able to meet the Filipino community in Guam. They were very warm, welcoming and gentle people. They we're extremely happy that I was there. I felt their pride seeing me perform. They have been very updated about my career and were asking me about my pilot course, my new songs, plus my upcoming collaboration with Ms. Sarah Geronimo. I am so honored I was able to also talk with Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin and Philippine Consul General Marciano De Borja while I was there."

Ronnie added "Guam and the Philippines have a shared historical and cultural connections, and upto this day our bonds of friendship, cultural ties remain strong."

To add, his latest track “Ligaya” topped Barangay LS (GMA Network’s FM station's) most requested songs. He earned praises as he put his own spin in the eheads classic. Currently, he has two songs in his album “12" which are doing good. “Ligaya” is enjoying lots of views on YouTube and other latest song “ Yakap” is at number 9 in the charts.

Ronnie Liang is also excited about his upcoming concert in November. He's going to be doing it with a big star in the music industry as part of his 12th year in the industry. He attributes his success with his fans, friends, Viva and Boss Vic Del Rosario who has sternly believed in him all these years.

He has an upcoming movie under Viva Films where he plays a supporting role (title still under the wraps). His last film Maria is now available on Netflix for the world to see. He also has an ongoing series called "Ghost Adventures" airing via Sari-Sari Channel on Cignal TV and an upcoming digital collaboration and a concert with Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo which you can look forward to.

He's not forgetting his dreams of becoming a pilot even if he's very busy. In which he says “I have already done a 15 hour-flight and a private pilot license holder needs about 40 hours. I need about 150-200 more for commercial flights. I will certainly work hard for that.”

Watch out for more of him this 2019! This is just a start!

Guam Upfront: The Best of Guam 2016

Saturday, February 06, 2016

We were at the #GUAMUPFRONT Media Day to see what Guam Visitors Board has been doing these past few days. I think they just recently participated in the PTAA event in SMX in Manila and represented their country quite beautifully. This isn't the first time they've been here and today they're talking about what the best Guam has to offer this 2016. Guam is a US Territory, you need to apply for a US Visa the regular way. It's near the Philippines and we've only got a two hour difference. There's also 30-35% of Filipinos there so you won't really get homesick at all. It's a multicultural place, Chamorros are locals and they're very proud of their culture.

"It's where America's day begin. We're opening a 27 Million dollar museum at the center of Guam together with the Pacific island games that's happening in the middle of the year. We're also promoting shopping and it's convenient to travel there in 3 1/2 hours through United, you can go to your hotel and swim by walking there. There's no traffic, we have a new campaign video launched in July telling how we're Guamazing!" says Nathan Denight the General Manager of Guam Visitors Bureau.

Guam has lots of things lined up this year, the tours such as Jungle Rules Adventure Tours, 12th Festival of the Pacific Arts in May which the olympics of culture and tradition in the pacific islands which happens only once every 4 years. Neighboring islands will converge there and showcase the reigion's artscape done in a few days courtesy of Guam Visitors Bureau.

Outrigger Resorts was also there. They got us a personal invitation to any of their 54 properties. The one in Guam Outriggger Premier Resort is in Tumon Bay. They've got the whole shopping district, shops in the actual groud floor plus the beach at the back. They are hospitality and local culture, and have about 600 rooms. They have signature restaurants that serve local and international cuisine. They also have live local bands playing nightly plus Ohana Beach Club on the beach side when you need to. You can have receptions, weddings, take care of the kids, plus spectacular sunsets in Outrigger Guam Beach Resort. We saw photos and videos, it looked so good from I was sitting.

Pacific Star Resorts shared some photos and had us drool about a lot of things that even the local Chamorros don't know about. When after all that, it was just right in front of their doorstep.

United Airlines also flies there 13 times a week. If you're up to it, you can get that visa and book on these hotels, fly out the weekend and come back the next week. It's comfy with United.

I wish I could go there, someday I will.

Nick Jonas and Tinashe Topbills Guam Live International Music Festival

Wednesday, April 22, 2015

Guam is really a gorgeous place to visit. They're giving us more reason to do so this June as they put up Guam Live Music Festival. This is part of the efforts of Guam Visitors Bureau to boost tourism and business in the island and it comes at a very good time because there's a lot of things happening in the capital and nearby cities. Aside from that, the Guam Live Music Festival will top bill performers like the sexy, sultry RnB artist Tinashe plus the equally hot buff bodied six pack singer Nick Jonas. It will all happen at Paseo Stadium in Hagatña, Guam.

Tinashe is only 21 years old and she's genres mixed and influences from her Shona roots which hails from Zimbabwe. she also released her debut studio album entitled Aquarius and a carrier single “2 On” which has been getting airplays in the US, elsewhere in the world. Tinashe had parts in "The Polar Express which she did with Tom Hanks. She also is in the top rating worldwide show "Two and a Half Men". GVB General Manager Nathan Denight says "Tinashe is a welcome addition to our lineup for Guam Live. With a variety of local bands, artists, and other international acts, we surely hope that they enjoy performing live while in the paradise called GUAM. There’s definitely something here for everyone and we hope this GVB signature event will draw thousands of people to help stimulate our local economy. We sincerely encourage everyone to come out and share some of that Guam Love at the music festival that is set to happen this June.

Nick Jonas of the famous "Jonas Brothers" will also be in the festival and GVB General Manager Nathan Denight couldn't contain his excitement and said "We’re excited to welcome Nick Jonas to Guam as a headliner for GVB’s second annual Guam Live International Music Festival. GVB created this signature music event to benefit our local community and take tourism to greater heights. Music unites people from all walks of life and what better way to do it than on our island paradise. We encourage everyone to stay tuned as we continue to announce the line-up for all international and local acts to be featured at Guam Live."

Nick Jonas will bring his A game and play your favorites “Chains” and “Jealous” among other hit singles that he has that's been hitting the airwaves of Guam and main land US. There will also be other international artists and local ones that will share the stage with them but it will be announced soon. You just have to stay tuned for more news on their social channels. I can't wait to see Nick and Tinashe perform live on stage! Oh... I almost forgot I don't have a visa yet LOL!

By the way, tickets are already on sale through their website www.guam-live.com and all 76/Circle K branches Guam wide!

Visit the Guam Booth at the 22nd PTAA Expo Today!

Saturday, February 14, 2015

It felt like home, a bit more festive when we got the chance to experience Guam last night at the Ascott Hotel during the Online Media Night. I havent't been there but I'm so much considering it as a destination of choice in the next few months. Guam is a US territory, you would need a Visa for it but I heard they've got relaxed terms for it now. It's an island paradise so you get the chance to enjoy the best of the tropics, but it's got rich culture, natural wonders, luxurious resorts, shopping, sports and spas. They've also got people at the PTAA Travel and Tour Expo in SMX Convention Center to showcase untapped wonders that Pinoys might not have seen yet! Guam is a destination and if you would like to see this island up close, please visit them now at the 22nd PTAA convention and find the best deals on how to go there!

They'll be in the PTAA fair this weekend so if you would like to check out things to do and special rates from travel agencies, they are only going to be exclusively offering them in this event. If I were you, I'd go through the lines just to see them perform. You've seen it on the video, you've got to see it live!

GVB Set To Showcase Guam at the 2014 PTAA Travel Tour Expo

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

Just a few hours away from the Philippines is GUAM - they're also set to reveal great packages this coming February 14 - 16, 2014 at the PTTA Travel and Tour Expo at the Mall of Asia SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

If you haven't seen the island yet, this is a great time to get in touch with the representatives from GUAM Visitors Bureau and get a taste of what its like to be in their pristine beaches, rich culture and flavorful cuisine; all of which you can do on a whim even on weekends.

This place is also a shopping haven for tourists since they enjoy tax free privileges. There's even more discounts from November to January where the SHOP GUAM FESTIVAL happens each year. It's the biggest one in the Western Pacific and thousands of shopaholics use this as an excuse to stay longer in Guam, I couldn't blame them though :)

On April 13, they will hold the Guam International Marathon then the annual Ko Ko Road Race in October. You can also stay there for the Guam Music Festival which happens in June. These are just the recommended dates but you can always go there all the time so you can see for yourself what Guam + its Chamorro people are all about.

Make sure you check out the official Guam Visitors Bureau booth at the PTTA Travel and Tour Expo (booth 386-389) at the 3rd Hall of the SMX Convention Center at the dates mentioned above. There will be special shows performed by Guam's very own Cultural Chamorro Dancers to give you a glimpse of what it feels like to visit GUAM!

See you there! :)

Philippine Firm ALOUATTA, INC. Hailed As Partner of the Guam Visitors Bureau

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

I've never been to Guam but I'd really love to. It's one place where Ferdinand Magellan landed before he came into the Philippines. We are bounded by history and the island has got a 26.3% Filipino population only next to its natives the Chamorro people. The country is blessed to say the least and they have opened their doorways for those who simply want a glimpse of how it is to experience GUAM.

The Guam Visitors Bureau has tapped one of the Philippines trusted Marketing-PR companies Alouatta Inc. as their official partner in celebrating and spreading the news for what seems to be the next premier destination in the orient. The large population of Filipinos in their country not only means we are part of the workforce but now a significant tourist source more than ever. Alouatta Inc. will be showing more of what Guam has to offer. Now you can make new friends, taste the sweet life, spend quality time and fall in love in one place they call GUAM.

I can't wait to see this country soon!
