Take Wine Guesswork Out at the Happy Living 30th Anniversary Wine Festival!

Sunday, June 02, 2024

Have you ever gone into a wine shop and felt a little lost seeing all the kinds of wine on the rack? Me too. It is so complex, each bottle different and even sourced from a certain country, and certain regions. It's like it has its own personality, you get to know it by flavor, aroma, texture and taste. It also comes in various colors, can be mixed into a concoction. If you're up to it, there's a Wine Festival on June 15th at The Tent in Enderun at McKinley Hill, Taguig. With the theme “A Continuing Journey Across the World's Most Famous Wine Regions and Wineries", their goal is for you to learn how to identify the right one is for you.

This is part of Happy Living's celebration of their 30th Anniversary. They are importers and distributors of over 150 kinds of wines and spirits sourced from all over the world.

Oh it's RED!

When dining, it's always there for a  lot of people. It's got strong, bolder flavors. It's also got tannin that makes it red, and gives it that certain mount feel. The wine festival will feature Arzuaga Reserva 2009 from Ribera del Duero of Spain which has won several awards, and will surely be appreciated at the event!

If you prefer WHITE

Ones I do like, are mostly white, light and bright. This is present in most flavors it gets, some fruity, sweet, a bit acidic especially Sauvignon blanc.

A crisp, elegant, and fresh white wine favorite is  sauvignon blanc, known for its bright acidity with vibrant flavors of fruits such as green apple, lime, and herbs. Sauvignon blanc drinkers are refreshing and expressive, unafraid to express themselves and their preferences. One that will be featured in the Happy Living Wine Festival is Lionel Osmin Villa Côte d'Argent Sauvignon Blanc 2022. It's a region known for being fresh, fruity and aromatic. A bit stronger is the chardonnay, and if you enjoy other flavor profiles, there are a lot of other things you can have on that date.

Certainly Fun Sangria

There's nothing more fruity than a glass of sangria. Try the featured Lolea No1 on ground made from quality Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon. With fruits infused, acids and spice, you'll be talking a lot during the event and love the options. Else, get Lolea No2 or Lolea No3 Brut, your Spanish friends would thank you.

If you're raring to go, get tickets via happylivingph.com today. Again, the event will happen on the 15th of June at The TENT at Enderun Colleges. There will be masterclasses available, but only limited seats (go get them while it's hot!). There are also over 150 wines and spirits to try at the venue, and it runs 4PM to 9PM. Get the tickets HERE. This is only for those 18 and older. See you there!

Glaiza, Tj Shines On My Letters to Happy

Friday, June 28, 2019

Just saw My Letters To Happy this evening at their premiere in SM Megamall. I had a notion this would be a love story alone, but it has made me realize they’ve probably made this for the twist of the story which we can’t mention here.

Not everyone was built strong. That line alone would make you think how hard and complicated this relationship is for Abet and Happy. One day they’re fine and dandy, a little bit crazy over each other, the next day they’re all talking serious stuff. They delve into that a lot, I felt uncomfortable at first because as millennials put it, there’s some ghosting involved. How far would a person show his love for someone?

Because we often forget how important our time is. This line had me thinking, do we all really do that? Do we not put importance to that moment we spend with out loved ones and instead just became superficial? How do we count or identify the things we need to put real attention to?

Abet and Happy made me feel a little hurt, especially in that one scene (I couldn’t tell you to spoil it!), a little helpless sometimes, but the fun parts, you encounter several skips of your heartbeat. Story wise, My Letters To Happy has given a subject much importance. Check it out if you want to see how, why you need to be crazy sometimes.

This film shows on July 17, 2019. Take your love struck crazy friends along and learn how to love without conditions, it works for some people. Glaiza, is a fine actress... and this just proves even if she reads lines from a phone book, she makes it work. Congratulations to the production too, but hope you ease up on the camera shake, I felt dizzy in the first frames (sorry).

8 Hakaw Flavors at Happy Dumplings

Thursday, May 30, 2019

Rode the road less traveled in the north at SM Fairview and climbed up to the second floor for a new spot called HAPPY DUMPLINGS. It’s a new Chinese food concept by the same people behind Black Sheep Coffee Manila, Bawais Vietnamese Restaurant under the Leave the Herd Behind Group.

The place is nice (and very cute) with a modern oriental "happy" interior using very colorful walls, acccents and cute dumpling characters too. There are tons of bunk chairs inside (comfy seating for two), a few bar stools and a couple of usual seating in the front for groups of 4 or more. They also have an open kitchen concept so you literally see them cooking it when you order.

Rice comes so good with this Salted Fish Fried Rice - since they just opened, they've got a promo ongoing for UNLIMITED RICE so if you're a heavy eater, I suggest you get that one. It is good for plain white rice lovers out there.

This is primarily a dimsum place and to start off, they've got these Fried Wanton. My guess is, your mouth is watering.

Now this is a good reason to go here. The new and awesome flavored HAKAW available in Original, Garlic, Curry, Salted Egg, Wasabi, Saté, Schezuan and Bagoong flavors. Would you believe it’s only Php 238? Yes, they’re crazy for doing that! (Be careful with the Schezuan because it doesn’t hold back, you’ll get that spicy kick you asked for, and currently my favorite). It’s super worth it!

My other favorite though is their Beef Brisket Noodle Soup because of it’s not too salty broth, plus their noodles are firm and doesn’t taste rancid like other egg noodles.

This is their COMBI 3 which is a combination of their Pork Asado, HK Style Fried Chicken and Lechong Macau. They also have a COMBI 2 if you're on a diet, but for groups of 3/4 you should definitely get this for variety.

My shots were fogging up because of the steam coming from these containers, it's fresh hot Pork Siomai with a whole shrimp which they stick in the center. It's really different when it's freshly cooked.

I also ordered their Beancurd Roll, which they had fried and doused with sweet salty soy sauce. It was light, not too greasy, order this for kids so they have protein.

Still steaming hot, this is their Chicken Feet. I didn't eat this but my seatmate did, let's just say he finished it all in a few minutes (while I was judging him LoL). It smelled so savory, I couldn't blame him.

Their management says they have planned to open up a few more branches in malls real soon, but for the meantime, you can visit this joint at the second floor of SM Fairview. I can't wait to go back there because it is quality Chinese food at an affordable price, how can you go wrong with that!?

Unlimited rice and 8 flavor HAKAW on my plate sounds like a good plan!

Happy Break Up Movie Now On Youtube!

Tuesday, February 21, 2017

Donnalyn Bartolome is getting serious with her career, she's starting the year doing HAPPY BREAK UP the Movie. Although I don't think there is one, could you say that there is a happy breakup? Donnalyn says she experienced one and that stemmed the inspiration writing her song with the same title. Her album is doing good and when the opportunity came to make this, they all fixed their schedules and did this film. She also shares the digital space with Angelica Feliciano, Kelly Welt, Bianca Yao, Ann Mateo, Sachzna Laparan.

In the movie, her name is ValenTINE, and Tine is her nickname. Her problem started when Dale played by Paul Salas suddenly chose to be a celebrity instead of being with her. She became depressed, her heart torn into pieces, but good thing Marissa Sanchez and Niño Mulach (her parents in the film) knew how to take care of her in this difficult ordeal. Trying to move on, she meets him again and makes it difficult once more in the duration in the film.

Donnalyn says "Paul is such a good person and I like how he was able to work with us when there were problems on the shoot, he understood and adjusted his schedules even if we new how busy he was. Some of the production people told me that Paul liked me, when we started following each other on Twitter, people went crazy!"

This is just fiction but I'm sure you will find this cute. If you have time, watch it in Youtube today and find out what will happen to her love life. Will she get her happy ending?

I hope so!

TV5 Features Basketball Wives on "Happy Wife, Happy Life!"

Thursday, January 22, 2015

Happy Wife Happy Life
The hosts of Happy Wife, Happy Life!

I think this show's title came from the CEO of TV5 himself. He chuckled a little when he heard it announced on the event that evening. Whoever so not agrees on this statement, will perish of course not have a happy home. Four ladies, who's life has been intertwined by one common denominator, their husbands. Yes, their partners are all professional basketball players. Their successful relationships and families won't survive without the resourcefulness and dedication of these women, who are ultimately just like you at home. They're going to show you the ropes on how to survive, how to make your time useful while you're there. Give you practical home ideas, especially for first time Moms who's probably going through the same phase as they are. When you see the show, they hope you get to connect, because as much as they would like to be different, they are ultimately the same as you.

Happy Wife Happy Life
RR Enriquez and Jeck Maierhoffer

When we talked to Jeck and Rr, they said that they are so blessed that the project was given to them after Amazing Race. They didn't expect it so they were very thankful. They almost didn't accept it because they thought it was going to be a reality show again. We know how that went in Amazing Race where they had a huge fight. They now see that it's different, they see how nice it is. Being with Danica and LJ was also special because they're all Christians. It's clear that it fits Rr because she's single but someday she wants to be like them, married and all. It was the first time when they had to fight during Amazing Race and that wasn't something RR wanted. They realized they couldn't control anything, it was something more of a lesson and she accepts that they're both a work in progress.

Happy Wife Happy Life
LJ Moreno Alapag

Happy Wife Happy Life
Danica Sotto Pingris

They don't want to have that in a show of course. It's also the way they edited it in the show, and how people would perceive it. Rr also thinned a bit, she said she had to lose weight because she has a skin care clinic on the side. The stress and all during Amazing Race actually made it worse she says because sometimes they didn't eat just to get ahead of the others. Actually, their friends know that they are going to butt heads even if they were still not in the race. They expected it but says still, it was fun. The show for them will be segmented. Danica will cook, LJ will give advise on first time moms, Jeck will give business or entrepreneurial advise while Rr will concentrate on beauty. That's what they should watch out in this morning show slated 10:30AM everyday. It's like a magazine show on TV and in the pilot episodes, you'll see our families and have a grand time seeing our lives even before the actual show.

Now that they're all together, you'll see how they will all gel together in this show, their lives on and off the court.

Thea Tolentino @ 18

Thursday, August 21, 2014

We went all the way to Calamba, Laguna to visit the hometown of the once little girl who dreamed of someday, making it big in the showbiz industry. Through the reality show Protegè, one of GMA's prized actresses was born... and clearly, she has blossomed into a colorful butterfly... a lady. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Thea Tolentino as she celebrates her 18th birthday. Oh yes, the Half Sister star is celebrating her debut intimately with family, friends and some celebrities. I find her very nice contrary to the role she's playing in that series which I regularly watch. Let me give you a rundown on what happened that evening.

Rita De Guzman performed a doxology to start the program. She's pretty dope. I have seen her perform quite a number of times and she's a pro. She also opened for the concert of Aiai and Rico J a few weeks back and this, she did with justice. Some even couldn't help but clap after her song. It's a prayer though. Then the debutante entered the venue.

All eyes were on her as she came out with a full gown created by world renowned designer Francis Libiran. It looked so good on her and obviously she's ready to show some serious skin. The back and the gown's detail up close was definitely a show stopper and it accentuates her without being too vulgar in the right places. She is indeed claiming it, like a gorgeous butterfly opening her wings.

Happy Easter! =)

Sunday, March 31, 2013

After the long vacation I feel like wanting to go back there again. But of course reality has to step in. I've got to pay the bills, report for work and slave away with people of whom some I don't wanna be with. (Dito sinabi eh no LOL pwede naman kasi April Fools)

It's so hard to get my mojo back. I guess in some way or another we all go through that phase. But I'm sure it'll come back in one way or another. I owe it to a lot of people why I blog. I also owe it to my self. I don't have to be pressured because this hobby has opened a lot of doors for me. Plus I get to meet people whom I think wouldn't be even possible in my lifetime. Actually I miss them already. Even though they are celebrities, they are real people... and I consider them my friends. How I wish it was easy for them to go out too. But we all know show business, it's another dimension. It's the same with the corporate world too. I would really love to go back and lounge around doing nothing. I miss Boracay. I miss my self too. =(

Happy Easter everyone! Hope your holy week went well!

Let's all go back to work now....

Cheers to 2013!

Thursday, January 03, 2013

Year 2012 seemed so special to me... so I am expecting a lot more this 2013!

My brother is in town. Ireland was probably too cold for him so he spent Christmas and New Year here. First in his list is to clean the house. He wants to throw away everything though. Hopefully I can get to keep what I'm wearing now LOL.

We got reservations in Makati Shangrila. I didn't think it was the ideal place to be in but if he's happy with it so am I. My folks loved it too so that's a good thing. I also got some shots in Ayala through my window.

This is just a quick post. Just wanted to say Happy New Year to everyone! =) Hope you had tons of food to eat, get to celebrate with the ones you love and have fun the rest of the year. I will not succumb to people that are trying to bring me down. We deserve to be happy, so let's do just that shall we? =)

Thanks for the wonderful 2012! Let's look forward to a brighter, better 2013! Cheers!

Nuffnang and Hapee Special Screening

Thursday, May 26, 2011

What makes Nuffnang and Hapee world class is the fact that they are here in the Philippines and they believe in the Filipino people. No matter what shape, form or ethnicity they still consider this one great nation as a stalwart to their companies success in the years that they have been able to do business here.

Hapee, a Filipino brand has been continuing to represent the Philippines elsewhere in the globe by bringing world class products to the consuming public. I believe that in the next few years this will continue to grow as they harness the powers of social media much like what Nuffnang has been able to penetrate for such a long time now. This has definitely made us stand out among the rest and I'm HAPEE to say; I'm proud to be a Filipino!

I'd be so happy if I could get an invite on this major event!

The Greatest Woman On Earth!

Sunday, March 06, 2011

She is the one who gave me life when I couldn't do any s#it about it. She made me feel special even if I already lost hope on myself. I hated her a couple of times when I was a kid because I couldn't go out that much to play. I swore a couple of times and never held back when I was really mad. She fed me much to get this big. She had so much fun when we go out and sent me to where my roots are. She took care of me when I was sick and made me study by force when I didn't want to. She scolded me when I don't come home at 6PM and spend most of the time outside; and hit me a few when I answer back too much.

I will kill for her. I can let her win all the arguments. I can let her hit me now because I'm to big already to get hurt. I can catch belts and hangers with my bare hands and crush them if I need to haha! I can buy something fancy for you if you want them that bad. I can do chores if you want me to just not washing dishes or doing laundry. I can cook anything from A to Z and try not to spice it up too much so you can all eat it. I want to tell you everything's okay now since I got to be goodlooking and handsome no matter how other people tell otherwise. I want you to know I'll be here even if you don't want me to.

Happy Happy Birthday Ma! Yeah I don't mind be called a Mama's boy as long as you are my Mom! =)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 25, 2010

I don't want to be antisocial so let's start by greeting you dear readers a very Happy Thanksgiving! I know it is not that much celebrated in the Philippines but since I have friends and people from work in the US why shouldn't I be happy for them right? I know most of you are working for people there too. Indeed I'm so glad we get to have some of that holiday spirit here too. I just had turkey at home. I didn't know Mom would cook hehe!

I'm already getting stuffed with the stuffing I couldn't move. Well almost haha! I'll make some of those turkey sandwiches tomorrow because I'm sure there will be leftovers. Dad didn't like some parts of the turkey because it was too tough. I like it though but it is pretty hard to chew when I'm being chased by the toothfairy since last week. Oh if you only knew how I sometimes cry over dinner. It's keeping me from eating too much though which is OK for my diet in someway or another.

That's another story... I would really love to greet everyone a happy thanksgiving and make sure you read about it on why they celebrate it in the US before you do enjoy this day. We're lucky we never had to chase birds like back then. Happy Thanksgiving!
