GERALD ANDERSON and KYLIE PADILLA for UNRAVEL

Mavx Productions has a gem in their hands as the Gerald Anderson and Kylie Padilla film called UNRAVEL is quite an interesting piece. This is their entry to the Summer Metro Manila Film Festival wherein they chose mental health as a topic which is pretty much a timely thing to discuss. 

It definitely is something new too because they also put in VAD (or Voluntary Assisted D3@th) which is legal in some countries, but really not allowed by law in others. It also is emotionally daunting to be in their position with the complexities of their personalities, their family situations and love. It didn't help that they had to qualify patients that would go through VAD because at the end of the day, they were dealing with lives of people.

Kylie plays the role of Lucy who has been suffering from clinical depression then decides to fly to  another country where it is permitted in the hopes of doing VAD. Gerald Anderson on the other hand plays Noah who in all circumstances would want to keep her alive. 

Kylie says "I had a great time, in the beginning it was surreal. I put my trust in Mavx Productions and Direk. I was really afraid about the material because it was dark, I had anxiety attacks after reading the material, but I hope people who go through this see hope, to hopefully save more people. I was a fan of kimerald, I just had to concentrate on work in doing this film."

Gerald adds "She is a good representative for her home network and working with her was a breeze. As an actor, I haven't experienced doing this kind of material, I feel people should always be nice, we all have our journeys because Noah and Lucy had their own battles. Kylie was very professional, it made us shoot easily because she was a cowboy."

This is the first time that the Summer MMFF is happening and their entry  is also part of their celebration of Star Magic's 30th Anniversary. They have filmed this piece in Switzerland. It is certainly quite breathtaking to see. It's a perfect backdrop to any film, even if the topic of d3@th was a tad depressing, you can't help but marvel at how gorgeous the place is. Is it good to watch? Definitely. You'll learn something, you don't know who's suffering.

TODA One I Love with Ruru Madrid and Kylie Padilla

I have been watching their early teasers early January and these upcoming shows about elections caught my eye. The show TODA One I Love stars Kylie Padilla and Ruru Madrid who also made their mark during Encantadia where their pairing KyRu started. It begs for a show especially for the fans who seem to have affinity with the teamup, it was bound to happen and it did in this very socially relevant show.

Ruru says “Nagka work ulit kami ni Kylie and I am so happy to see even KYRU fans didn’t give up on us. I do drive bikes and driving tricycles are different, it is heavier and it helped because we have experience. The way we vote in Iglesia is different, we only usually know two days before the elections who we have to vote and the system is different.”

Kylie adds “This is my comeback show and I want someone who has been in a working relationship with me, we already have a following so it is so much easy. I think real change depends on us, whoever leaders are it won’t be good if we do not have that in us. Things that we want to say, I have already said it in my lines on the show. I have experience in driving motorcycles and I had to adjust, I am a little boyish and I had to just over act a bit.”

David Licauco says “It is on people, I believe what Kylie said. My character is not evil, they are both respected leading men, so it is up to her character.”

Gladys Reyes says “We are on a blocked vote in Iglesia and it is a sacred right for us to vote. People spend time to actually learn about the ones we would write on our ballots. This character is very political, all smiles when there are people, but clash when in private so I can play with the character. It is fun to see because it is more situational, dead people, graduation, birthdays, the mayor’s tarpaulins is going to be there. It’s inspired from a mix of different people.”

Kimpoy says “It is a reminder for Filipinos to still instill principles whenever we choose leaders.”

Director Jeffrey Hidalgo says “There will be scenes to be seen especially on issues that happen in real life. It is going to be delivered funny but it is serious. You will get to connect personalities but it is more talked about on scenes, you will fall in love, you will see action, you will see Kimpoy also do drama. This is very grounded, tricycles haven’t been seen on tv to be a lead in the community. The politics, the talk between afternoon moms, it will all be seen. There would be no real politicians in the show because if there is a need to we have characters to do that. Also, politicians won’t be able to campaign and appear as a rule indicated by comelec. It may be TODA but it reflects society as a whole. There is corruption, funds go somewhere, politicians using them, things like that affect us all.”

TODA One I Love will start airing on February 4 on GMA Telebabad and will replace a Korean series.

GMA Records and JU Entertainment Outs ONE LOVE Album

Today marks the release of the ONE LOVE album. It's the charity project that's got a stellar cast plus some of GMA's most promising singers who all joined up for the benefit of GMA's Kapuso Foundation. It's actually the first of its kind and judging from the talent we've seen during the blog conference, they've really been able to make this a thing to watch out for. They did some of the songs and the carrier single called "Sa Puso Mo" (In Your Heart) stood out as it was sang by a couple of people from the label and the ensemble cast who participated in the album.

These ladies (Kath Castillo, Hannah Precillas, Kai Atienza) performed the song "Broken" which is more on the emotional side of things. They're the finalists and winners of Bet ng Bayan which is a show on the same network. They find this as an opportunity not just to showcase their talent but to also help in a cause that would help a LOT of people whether they're sick, in an emergency or just in need. They're also optimistic that this could spark plans for their individual careers.

I've seen Ralf King sing with us during the Christmas Party for bloggers last December, he's one of the unquestionable people who can sing a phonebook and still sound amazing. He's also good looking too and very down to earth. I didn't get to talk with him that much but I'm vouching for this guy. He's singing  one of the singles "Para Lang Sayo" (Only for You) which I find quite nice, more of a ballad/rnb type of thing when he executes it.

Nar Cabico half hosted the event. I think he's being groomed to be in that post aside from singing. He's a good chap and promises the digital album will impress critics as the songs were tailor made for Valentines day.

Julian Trono as usualy was looking so good. He's doing a duet with Lindsay De Vera and I got so naughty that I had to tease them during the interview. I think I know Julian's not single but when brought with the idea Lindsay went ahead and Friendzoned the KPOP/PPOP singer.

Don't they look sweet? I know, but Lindsay says even though she would fall in love with someone like Julian she knows she treats him like a brother and friend. They've been together since Jollitown days and since they kinda grew up together Lindsay finds him in that category. Anyway I saw her smile as she was being teased, nothing wrong with that.

Lovely Yasmien Kurdi also sang super nice one of the songs. I missed her singing. Her last album was in 2007 and it was a hit so I was wondering why there wasn't a follow up after that. She quips she had to finish her studies and had to have time with family when she left the industry a few years back. We're not alone, but hopefully after this great showing on the charity album GMA Records would be able to make her another one since she's a very spirited singer. I can tell how impressed people were when she sang one of the songs in the ONE LOVE album. She hasn't lost that touch.

A good friend, James Wright implied how much he's so eager to help co GMA Record artists in this album. He say's "they're like family and I would do the same if I were in their position". He gave us a sample of his hit song "Sana'y Ikaw" which is part of the OST of Marian Rivera's show Carmela. He's one of the nicest people I've ever encountered in show business and hope that translates how people would perceive him and his songs. He still also has his self titled album out but hopes this charity album would make people unite, love one another, important for a great country like ours. 

Other artists that are also in this album include Glaiza de Castro, Derrick Monasterio, Kristoffer Martin, Kylie Padilla, Ruru Madrid, Betong Sumaya, Gabbi Garcia, Maricris Garcia, Rita Daniela (whom I talked to in the elevator) and Denise Barbacena. PaGMAmahalan Blogcon: Kylie Padilla and Julian Trono for Buena Famila

Seeing Kylie Padilla and Julian Trono is but a good thing. Kylie for the most is one of the most straighforward actresses I know when it comes to answering questions. She doesn't mind intrigues, showing a spade a spade especially when it comes to talking about her being an actress and what she has accomplished so far. I've long adored her beauty, and I feel her work has been sometimes left unnoticed. She's a pretty good actor and she's already proven that in several movies and programs on GMA. She's also been nominated in awards shows recently; and continues to do her utmost best to anything that's thrown to her. She was also asked if she had some frustrations, she answered bluntly and said it's to actually be as great or even better than her father. It's a tall order of course, but she is optimistic that nothing is impossible with hard work as she's been always doing that all these years. Since Buena Familia is extended, she's hoping that everything in the story would turn out happy.

Julian Trono is hands down one of the best dancers this country. His KPOP training is evidently seen in each performance whether he's in a mall show, just outside or even the PaGMAmahal Blogcon where we interviewed them that afternoon. I specifically like his upbeat songs (oh yes you can still get his album), his knack for music (you can't dance without hearing the beat), his eye and hand coordination (hence it looks effortless when he does his thing) and he is super humble (I have never even seen him do otheriwse). He plans to resume training pretty soon, but since he's extremely busy with commitments locally he might be still holding that off - otherwise he won't have any sleep. In Buena Familia, he laments he's always on "beast mode" as he's always protecting everyone in the family; and his only hope is that his character would in some way have a love interest... which also puzzled us because everyone else had one. I'm sure there will be more room for that to happen because the additional weeks that they were extended to just got extended again with two more weeks. Like Kylie, he too would want something good to happen since they've suffered much in the story.

Angelu De Leon Talks About Buena Familia and TGIS Reunion

This is actually a dream for me. Being a BIG fan of TGIS in the past, I've always seen Angelu De Leon as that same Peachy we adored during the run of their show. She's Bettina in Buena Familia and a bit of a let down because her characters pretty weak. Her friends in real life and fans communicated how frustrated they were about her character that didn't get any courage to do things on her own. No backbone at all. One thing though Angelu says that makes Bettina different is that she still has hope, hope that she clings on no matter how small that is. She also tries to fix things slowly so if she's not successful in making matters better with her husband in the show (played by Bobby Andrews), she takes the small things with her kids Celine, Darling, Edwin and Faye. The important thing is, she's starting somewhere and perhaps, that would spark good things in the future.

Kylie Padilla and Martin Del Rosario for Buena Familia

They do look good together, but that's about to be changed. Kylie Padilla and Martin Del Rosario play the roles of Celine Buena and Harry Atendido, members of families who despise each other. You can say this might be a play with Shakespear writing but then again, they've got their own troubles inside their families to worry about. Add to that, the people around them that are all unpredictable while in the story. This is a thing that could make people learn more things about the value of family, and this drama - is like an ensemble of great actors and actresses might just do wonders like its prolific story. Will Celine learn about what pains she'll have while bearing the name of a Buena?

I think these guys will be the next generation of stars set to impress audiences in the Philippines and the rest of the world. These shows would probably be dubbed into a different language and shown in different countries, that's why they also end fast sometimes because they have to package it much like paced dramas and telenovelas from Korea or Mexico. Kylie is so gorgeous in person, she's done countless movies and successful dramas already and she laments that she was initially afraid it wouldn't work with Martin because she thought she was taller than him. It worked out good and it's a good thing she doesn't hold back talking to Martin about how they would do certain scenes and there weren't any instance they had awkward moments because of that. Martin on the other hand was excited and lauds the people they work with in the series more so because he's working with some of them for the first time. He says he's more excited than nervous, they were just an easy bunch to work with and they got off very nice which is extremely important in a shoot like this where they need to spend hours together. They're also a pairing so somehow, they need to look and feel in love. Kylie was glad they got to know each other real well making this project and hope the story becomes interesting as the days come. I can't wait to see what happens once Harry and Celine gets over the family feud and seek love after all the exciting revelations.
