4 people hosting a cooking show, would you watch it? Well that's about to happen as Mikee Quintos, Team Payaman's Dudut, Chef Hazel and Chef Ylyt host a new show on GTV called LUTONG BAHAY.
Direk says "They have their own flavor and personalities. Hazel does mom stories, Ylyt is technical, Dudut is comedy, while Mikee is very collaborative so she always asks what to do with our guests. It's new, and if it's not Mikee it wouldn't be like this."
Mikee says " I feel with all the projects I did before, it all starts with a character. In this one, I am only going to be doing me. I'm an empath according to my professors, and hosting this will mean I get to connect with people, bring out stories we want to hear. What I would ask will probably be what people want to ask, to humanize our artists. They are just like us and this could show that. My urge to cook is the locked in taping I had because in more than a month, I had to do everything by myself. That's when I started enjoying it, also with The Lost Recipe. To be fully honest, it's been a while since I did a show, I had a long break and I felt it. They told me not to overthink, and instead looked for new skills and had workshops for public speaking. They taught us how to host. And now I'm using that for this purpose. God is so good, I trusted him and he blessed me more."
Hazel shared "I started cooking when I was 8, and growing up in Divisoria, I always look at my Grandmother's cooking. I see them prepare, learn culinary stuff and became a Mom. I was surprised to be tapped here and asked why, I am just grateful. We have a lot to share with people, and our guests too. I am honored to be part of this."
Ylyt adds "I was just a home cook, but used my experience to do content through vlogs. I am still studying, a scholar in ISCAHM, it's very technical and my goal is to teach people what I can do. I didn't get much traction but when they chose me, I felt it is destiny. I want it to be a not so serious one, they get to learn from the guests too."
Dudut says "I know cooking is hard, I'm studying, I'm currently a home cook and cook for my friends. This opportunity makes me nervous, I asked why too, but I said, this is for me, I'm willing to learn as we get along."
It will premiere this coming Monday, 5:45 pm on GTV, go make your afternoon a relaxing one and see them cook, talk and share their stories.
Everyone was in a celebratory mood when we arrived at the ballroom of Novotel Araneta City. To mark Ginebra San Miguel's 190th Anniversary, they had us experience heritage, culture and the good things they whip up at their plants all these years.
Outside was a plethora of memorabilia, including age old bottles they use to contain their products, and how it evolved all through the years. While undoubtedly knowing its Filipino roots, the technology and corporate beginnings have all started in Manila in 1834. It was family owned, then spread throughout the country via major cities. It started a tradition, and products became high quality yet remained affordable. From their Ginebra San Miguel, GSM line, Premium Distilled, Antonov, Anejo Gold, Primera Light, Vino Kulafu, it became the most diverse subsidiary for products through San Miguel Corporation.
The event had a theatrical performance all throughout the night explaining the reason why the company has remained productive, through innovation and continue to become an integral part of Filipino celebrations for almost 2 centuries. The event was also graced by Ginebra San Miguel executives, celebrity endorsers like Boss Toyo, Mikee Quintos from Sparkle, and Attorney Oliver Moeller. Later in the evening, Nik Makino went up on stage and performed for everybody to celebrate #WorldGinDay. He's also a part of the endorsers tapped for this year, and he's mighty proud how his music and the countless Filipinos that made it viral on TikTok. He said he owes much of his success to the people who believed in him, and gives advice to only do it in legal age + and moderately.
Add to that the new Archangel Reserve Premium 1 Liter bottle (not yet available to the market, maybe soon!) that's in Emerald Green. This is to celebrate 190 years of the brand. Congratulations to the men and women behind Ginebra San Miguel as you celebrate more years in the industry!
Mikee Quintos just signed again with GMA Artist Center. With her powerful singing, acting prowess, she's made a lot of shows very interesting with her characters. What struck me most was the last one in The Lost Recipe because that one had so good story, editing, drone shots, the works! We also asked Mikee about her experience going into GMA grounds when she started, it was nice to reminisce about that. Then she also mentioned how she would want to work again with Kelvin Miranda, because honestly, they look good on screen.
Mikee says "When I first stepped in GMA, I felt right at home. Even if the building was intimidating, I didn't feel that at all. I want to work with Bea Alonzo, I feel I won't work with her, I'll just ride along because I have seen her work and I am fan girling. The experience here is self explanatory, I have my share of doubts because of bashers, but you know yourself more, that's important, do what you have to do. Don't carry the hate, that's heavy, just do what you can because that won't put food on the table. The biggest lessons I learned is to stay humble, that's what is important. My acting mentors have taught me a lot, when I'm on set, I speak the truth, wether comedy, drama, romcom, as long as you are true it will resonate. I would never forget their guidance. Kelvin and I have worked after the lost recipe, we talk about it, we hope we could do more because we just wish it happens. We pray for that, maybe if ever I'd try something simple, a romcom, a simple person with simple dreams, or maybe childhood friends who end up together, hopefully soon. It's so nice to feel how we went on the signing the first time, when I told them about it, they felt how I did feel that time. They know I trust them, it came with emotions of 6 years. I think I have grown a lot over the years, and I am so thankful for GMA for that."
Mikee is also in Pepito Manaloto, make sure you catch her there and every week on AOS. Congratulations dear! You're definitely going places!
This will show on September 16, a few of you have it already tweeted I’m sure.
Alden says “This is the first time I am portraying a blind character. Jo Berry will play my Mom and the fear here is not doing other characters you could explore with. My grandparents are my inspiration especially in my life. This story affected me so much because the story is hopeful, regardless of circumstances.”
We saw the first few episodes, much like a long trailer. They took time establishing the characters back story, why he ended up with his Mom and the whole tragedy that happened with his life. Add to that the fun things he’ll do with his love life, oh yeah he’s going to have that happen a few days. Until something abrupt happens. It will change his life... and destiny.
The cast includes Jo Berry, Elizabeth Oropesa, Jean Garcia, TJ Trinidad, Mikee Quintos, Mikoy Morales, Martin Del Rosario, Christian Vasquez, Betong Sumaya, Rochelle Pangilinan, Tetay, Luz Valdez, Victor Anastacio, Isabelle Ortega, and Thia Thomalia.
Check out our coverage here from the September reveal last night!
Make sure you stay tuned on GMA this September 16, you wouldn’t want to miss Alden of course!
June 28 is a #Revelation, it will also be the first concert of Mikee Quintos together with Anthony Rosaldo. It was a friendship born out of affinity at work and in Studio 7, they have been able to see each others strengths, do numbers together and found that even though they do music that is totally different from each other, they would still be able to make it work. On this day, they will also be supported by friends Solenn Heussaff, the Zamora brothers, Jo Berry and a lot more will be there.
When we sat down with Mikee Quintos, she says “When I was younger I had singing lessons but played music online a bit, I discontinued and taught myself. My parents don’t sing but my Grandma taught me a lot, your posture, all those small things and it was nice to begin. It all started with Pao and he pitched this concept, if I’m gonna be honest I have been 3 years in showbiz and I haven’t made time for singing, a concert, I thought they weren’t serious, I had to prepare, because of the people who pushed me, it gave me back my confidence. I wanna make this happen. We are so different but when we did sing I felt we could work with something here. He is sweet, he has so much range. In this concert it will have those things, our different styles, a little jazz, hiphop, throwback songs, different flavors. The whole show is a whole experience, not just showcasing a talent. After Onanay, I did a lot of guestings but right now I have to focus on the concert, this is a different level of fulfillment for me and I love this, this is a break from my comfort zone and my close friends know this makes me bond more with my music side. I realized how excited they are for me, my family and friends are very supportive. The last three years, I get frustrated, I am a work in progress. I wanna inspire people even at that condition. I will be dancing, not like in Studio 7, all out, hopefully I have the moves figured out. Revelation means these insecurities, but this is a big thing for me. My Mom has helped me a lot and I have to thank her for that.”
Anthony Rosaldo says “I told her that I was smiling ear to ear because I love how she sings (he pointed to the stage where they sang together). I know people expect me to sing and belt, some new songs that I will do on the concert. It is a medley, I have diva songs, the arrangement is tailor made for me and it is big. I also have a segment with the Zamora brothers. We will work out our songs, we have duets, I love how different her voice is and when that happens on stage it will not necessarily be all power, but it will be all heart. I met her in Studio 7, I was introducing myself to artists but she was so lovely, very down to earth. We hang out, we do meetings and bond over food and drinks. Now we talk about the concert, now I know her more. For me, I am very new in the industry, the opps I have on Tv is limited and here it is very personal and what I can really do, I can do it here. This is different because it is when I’m a Kapuso artist, I have fans to show my gratitude and make them all proud about their sacrifices. I can finally show them we made it. I think the whole concert is given to them, I might do it in the concert and might talk about it. I have to reconnect, harder to invite nowadays. My fans give me extended help, they really make it happen. We met and this concept was approved, we had to go through a lot and we were allowed. Sorry I got a little emotional, I still get nervous, I need to step up a lot with how I sing. I do breathing exercises to calm down backstage, I guess if you believe and trust God and give it all up to him.”
Now for those who would want to purchase tickets to the show, it is available via TicketNet online, the Music Museum (venue) and their management. Go get them now, it would be a nice time to discover new artists, and see how they perform their type of music.
They have been doing good breaking barriers and show not so common stories in GMA. From LGBTQ themed shows like “My Husband’s Lover”, the recent HIV related one “Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka”, now they delve into a serious case of Achondroplasia, a bone growth disorder that hampers growth. In the series, they are also introducing a lead star named Jo Berry.
I could imagine living in this condition, people, even kids would probably taunt you. It’s a vicious cycle and this has happened to me in the past, it was solved when hormones kicked in but I’m so sad for those who didn’t grow an inch since highschool. Now think about it, she is living that her whole life. Add to that the reality of actually giving birth to normal kids, one who is kind and fights for you, the other one ashamed and be glad to get rid of you. Onay only dreamed of a regular life, but her case will only have judgement, fear of living everyday because society doesn’t give her the opportunities and rights she deserves. Her daughters will be played by teen stars Mikee Quintos and Kate Valdez, which by the way will have different fathers according to the story. Included also in the cast is the one and only Superstar Ms. Nora Aunor who will play Onay’s mother Nelia. This is also the comeback of Wendell Ramos, with Adrian Alandy, Gardo Verzosa, Vaness del Moral, Rochelle Pangilinan, Enrico Cuenca and the gorgeous Cherie Gil.
Now this is a bit complicated, but do know that they have big shoes to fill because they Biguel show they replaced has been so good on ratings. Watch it everyday in the same time slot, GMA’s Primetime. They start today!
Just like you I say ONANAY what’s my name? in the shower LOL!
