Sendwave Taps OGIE ALCASID: An Affordable Way to Send Money Home

Saturday, October 26, 2024

The Philippines is home to 2.16 Million OFW's (Overseas Filipino Workers according to latest statistics), and in so many instances, they need to send money home to help with family, friends, and other reasons. Going through banks and other entities cost so high, and of course, every cent counts with your hard earned money. International Money Transfer service provider Sendwave presents a very affordable option. If you are in one of the countries they serve, sending money to your loved ones will become simple, secured, and fast. This is something that is needed, an essential for family or OFW's so when they wanted someone to represent them in the country and the community, they tapped the good looking singer, songwriter, OPM icon, OGIE ALCASID. They introduced him to the press, and told us the reasons why he was the perfect person to send what they want to communicate:

Ogie says "It's important for Filipinos to send money home that's simple, affordable and without transfer fees. You know, the values of this company and mine as a father, husband is the same. We wake every day for our families, and they take care of hard earned money from abroad to the Philippines with ease, with trust that it will reach the person intended to, it is our connection to our family. We do concerts in other parts of the world and OFW's are an integral part of it. I hope in some way, we could get the message across that there is a way to save while sending money home."

Ms. Janice, the Global Brand Lead for Sendwave says "We are an online money remittance app, designed for OFW's and we champion them. We focus on simple, easy and convenient ways to send money from abroad to the Philippines (or any participating country) and made it affordable. Sendwave has no transfer fees, we stretch the value of the money that they send to their families here at home. We are present in the US, Canada, UK and parts of Europe. If you have OFW friends or family, please tell them to download the app and use the service. Try Sendwave!".

Ogie was so happy and honored to be able to represent them. Being part of the Sendwave family he deems is important because OFW's spend years in other countries, but want to make sure they stay connected and felt when help is needed in the Philippines. He also knows how hard it was to work abroad because he's been able to talk to them in performances abroad. They need to make sure that the money they send would be secured, easy to do and affordable.  .

Ogie adds "Why do we work? What are the reasons to wake up in the morning? The reasons to send money home is a lot, this app assures your savings would get to the recipient. As a singer, I've entertained them through concerts in different countries. When I talk to people, they are mostly OFW's, it's not easy to market something like this, but it is important. I just signed with them, and perhaps soon, there will be Sendwave in Australia and I'd get to send money to Regine if needed."

They now have bonus additional money to give out too when you first try the service (10 dollars) aside from the amount you send. There are no transfer fees, so that is free. They just want you to experience it. It's not intended for receivers, but designed from senders from abroad. You don't need to be a member here in the Philippines to receive the money, they just tie up their cards and send it to whatever bank or GCash account the recipient has and get it, it's that easy!

There are limits, dependent on banks abroad and the receiving bank/app in the country because some of them have limits too. It already is being used by 2 Million users, and the plan is to include more people to benefit from it. They have plans to take Ogie to other countries where Filipinos are. Although Ogie already is doing that, he says "The fact that I'd be reaching a lot of audiences this year and next year, we have a lot of people to help. It's most welcome, to be able to sing and help our kababayans. We are partners with TFC, and events may be through that. It's part of their future plans. I'm excited, when I learned about this, at the shoot, it was happy there. It's not easy to do but I'm excited and happy with what we made in just a few days. When you do it with fun, with excited people, it's a breeze. You will receive the amount automatically converted to peso and what you see with the conversion is what they person will get in full."

The company earns through foreign exchange and if you see that their rates are better, you should use Sendwave. Congratulations to Sir Ogie Alcasid, it's so refreshing to see you excited to help more people with this recent partnership. If you can send money home for free, you should take advantage!

IAN and OGIE Continues Concert: VIRTUALLY YOURS, KILABOTITOS

Friday, February 26, 2021

This was postponed last year because of obvious reasons, but it had to be done. The country's most good looking Uncles, Ian Veneracion and Ogie Alcasid will be doing their concert called Virtually Yours, KILABOTITOS which is happening March 26th.

Ian Veneracion told us how he was called Tito and says "So I had a project with Bea Alonzo and when we introduced ourselves, she suddenly asked if she could call me Tito, I immediately told her "Tito mo mukha mo wag kang magkakamali! (in jest)" but it was a little heartbreaking, we can't stop aging."

Ogie on the other hand said "The first time I got called Tito was when I was 13 and my sister got pregnant. Aside from that, it was Lovi Poe who called me that since we were with the same manager. Then after that, when I transferred in ABSCBN all the other singers called me that way, these days, I'm like used to it and I'm already 53 so I think it's okay now to call me that."

Here's more of the short interview we did with them today!

The two will be making your post valentines day blues away and will give you the hit 70's and 80's music which you were binging on during this pandemic. Though it will be held live online, Virtually Yours KilaboTITOS will still make you swoon because these guys still have it. Tickets are sold on KTX.PH or Ticketnet.com.ph and I heard they're almost sold out.

The one and only Asia's Songbird officially signed an exclusive contract with network giant ABSCBN. Plus, there is already a planned sitcom which shall be named soon but she's already said this will be with real life husband Ogie Alcasid and one of her dream actors to work with Ian Veneracion.

Aside from Ian we heard names like Piolo Pascual, Robin Padilla, Coco Martin, Sarah Geronimo, her compatriots Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Lani Misalucha, Jaya, Janno Gibbs who she wanted to work with again, and she was quite exstatic!

As for the actual press conference,we have it all on video so here you go!

Ogie Alcasid Does "NAKAKALOKAL" for World Vision

Friday, August 11, 2017

Spent the evening at Bo's Coffee in Tomas Morato to participate in the bloggers night for NAKAKALOKAL, a benefit concert of singer and composer par excellance Ogie Alcasid for World Vision and their projects against child exploitation, a very noble cause.

Jun Godornes the Resource Development Director of World Vision Philippines says "We are doing this again because we believe you are the future. We want you to know how World Vision and this concert has aligned for the kids we are helping. We are commited to a better world for children, for education and their lives. We work alongside partners and donors to provide for communities, helping kids to reach their potential and live their dreams. We also give parents the chance to support their income so they could provide their families, become resilient in future disasters. Thank you to Mr. Ogie Alcasid our World Vision Ambassador."

Ogie Alcasid says "I'm turning 50, this is called Nakakalokal because it's the title of my album done with the ABSCBN Philharmonic Orchestra (already available in record bars and digital stores). The Philippines is known for great singers, and we are a talent pool of great songwriters, this is our way of saying thank you. There is great music being produced here, and we are proud of that. We have been working with World Vision as they celebrate their 60th anniversary. We believe the in the youth, to hopefully start their success with music, thank you to World Vision for giving us an opportunity to help. I have been a witness about how they are as an organization and if there is an opportunity to help, every minute with them, I don't bat an eyelash. We will have a lot of artists working with us as guests in the concert and they all said yes. You will see Angeline Quinto, Basti Artadi, Davey Langit, Erik Santos, Inigo Pascual, Jaya, Kyla, Lara Maigue, Leila Alcasid, Lovi Poe, Men and Music, and Ms. Yeng Constantino. All the proceeds of this concert will go to a fund designed to help in the cause for the prevention of exploitation of children. I hope you help us with the sale of tickets for this show (even though it is selling quite good he adds). I have been part of them for years, it's never been formal in an event until now. We all did it by heart, and I got invited to Zambales and met indigenous people and fell in love with them. They didn't know me, some of them do from the Bonux commercial (and laughed) and it was so heartwarming. They made musical instruments from tree branches and played it with so much gusto and it was entertaining. I had the chance to come back so I sent them some speakers for their sound system. When I arrived, they were ready. It geared me more to partner with them even more (World Vision) after that. I will be singing an all Filipino repertoire and I am singing some new songs, so I am equally excited for that. I also have a new album, I am very proud of it. I am excited to know what God has planned for me."

Richard Supat who is a former sponsored child gave a testimony and said "My sponsors were from around the world and I felt anchored to pursue my goals and dreams. I finished college, I met my sponsors and we didn't even talk, we just met and cried. I graduated with an MBA from La Salle and when we were at school, I told them I was one of the products of the organization. This organization isn't make believe, I have a better place to live in and finished school because of them."

Ogie Alcasid's 50th Birthday concert "NAKALALOKAL" will happen at the Kia Theater on August 25, Friday at 8pm. Tickets are on sale via Ticketnet http://www.ticketnet.com.ph or call 911-5555 or email them at ticketnet@ticketnet.com.ph. You're not just going to watch a nice man do his songs, but help a very worthy cause that helps kids recover from exploitation, which is a sad reality because it still happens.

Help Mr. Alcasid help the foundation and the kids!

Ogie Alcasid Doesn't Want To Grow Old

Thursday, August 11, 2016

We sat down with Ogie Alcasid the other day to talk to him about his upcoming concert at the Music Museum this August 26 and 27. It's entitled "Ayokong Tumanda" (I don't want to get old!) which came from the hit Itchyworms song on their latest album.

He says "I didn't have a plan, I just miss singing and consequently it's my birthday too. So this is like a birthday concert. The concept came from me and my director. I've always done concerts in Music Museum and it's like home. The songs would be a compilation of greatest hits and I might have Lara Maigue and Basti Artadi who's in the same management company as I am so this will be good.  Empoy was supposed to be in the show but he's been so busy recently. I didn't know how managing talents started, it was just at the Elements camp when I mentored some artists, it was just then that I said to my self "I wanna help these guys!". Most of them are singer songwriters. I don't think they really need my help because they are already so talented.

For those who've seen me in the other channel, I was in ASAP because of Ryan Cayabyab and OPM. They always have me when they do those shows. I miss the grind of shooting entertainment shows on TV5, but hopefully soon I'd be able to do it again. I might resign from the OPM Presidency a few months from now, and I might let very talented guys to take over. I like Christian Bautista and Yael, and they've been in the industry long enough to know how to help. The younger guys should be given a chance to do that.

About Digong's appointments, I think it just comes with the territory and it becomes scrutinized largely because of social media. I say give them a chance. I'm also very happy for Jaya, she seems very happy in ABSCBN.

TV5 has a problem, we have to admit that. I want to talk to my boss first (perhaps this week when his contract expires) and see if I'm still needed. I've been there for 3 years and we haven't done all the changes I need to do. I don't want to leave a sinking ship because I really want to help. I want to help them first. MVP is very humble and I really respect the man. My network is in need of content and I'm also glad they're allowing me to promote in other stations.

I have pokemons, the comics and action figures. I bought it when it almost ended. I'm glad I got it and people envy me for it.

My daughter looks like Selena Gomez because her Dad looks like Richard Gomez. She's 18, I'm ready to introduce her to you next year and she was a bit shocked to be hounded by people when she visited the Philippines when we went into a mall. She sings, but she's more of a writer - like a novelist. She's got English topped in Australia, and her professors say she's a very deep person. She enrolled in University of Sydney where the Prime Minister also graduated. She's single now, she was sad for a while and we Facetimed during that event. During Christmas they went here and had fun. They went back and enjoyed Palawan in June even when it was a bit rainy. I wanted them to go back on a regular basis as it's different here. The warmer beaches, I hope that makes it easier for them to perhaps become influencers/bloggers when they decide to stay here. I think her Mom would also agree because she's very pretty.

I'm turning 49 and this concert is about my greatest hits, and I wanted to sing it the way I did in the past. Even though some body parts are already aching, even if I feel it, I'm embracing it. We didn't get old, I'm still the same guy, still childish. I'll be singing an Itchyworms song "Ayokong Tumanda" but am changing the lyrics a bit. I'll be doing it on August 26 and 27 at the Music Museum. Aiai and Regine will be my guests, and is going to be directed by Floy Quintos.

He is my first Director and I wanted to do the old things I did with him. In a way it's like going back to the old me. I have Ryan Cayabyab as my Musical Director. It's been a while since I've had one so it's like I'm starting again. We've gotten really good talent do their shows first this year, a thing that OPM really supports. I've supported them a lot and I hope in some way, I've helped their careers start.

I feel Michael V misses me, I bet he made our Sunday Basketball an excuse just so he could meet me. It's sad to see staff not doing anything and hope we're going to tape more in the coming months.

Regine and I haven't really made plans for my birthday, maybe she'll get me a coffee maker. I don't want to go down the house and just have it inside the room. Hopefully I'll have another show in September at the Kia Theater. It's still in the works.

My son (the cute Nate) is a big fan of the Kramers, Nate wants to see them, I guess he wants to play with kids. My son wants to be a passenger of PAL, not a pilot, not an F.A, but a passenger. It's his current obsession. I hope Kuya Willie can lend him a plane. He learns about planes on Youtube, even puts sticker planes on countries he's already gone to. It's cute.

These days, I'm a little ashamed to admite that I get really sleepy early. Regine scolds me about it and tells me I'm not good man the morning after. "

Ogie Alcasid still has his new album "Ikaw ang Buhay Ko" (You are my life) out in the market. Make sure you catch his concert this August 26 and 27 at the Music Museum! It'll be one for the books!

Viva and TV5 Launches "Born to be a Star!"

Monday, January 04, 2016

It's the first presscon of the year and we're glad VIVA invited us on their new show called "Born to be a STAR!". It's a reality singing contest showcasing the best of the best singers in the country. They also introduced the judges none other than Rap Legend Andrew E, Acoustic Superstar Aiza Seguerra and the one and only Concert Queen Pops Fernandez.

"I'm always grateful in all the things that come my way, this is a new year and a lot of new things are gonna happen and we believe everything will happen. It's a break from boyfriend questions. It was so hard to do this in the past because we didn't have the Internet. There were only a few people given a chance and this time we're looking for that one person. It depends on how lucky you are, the face and the voice, there's that IT factor that is needed also for you to be a star! I thought it was easy, I've gone through tons of hardships and I hope this also gets us the star we're looking for."says Pops Fernandez.

Aiza says "Maybe I was really born to do this, not everyone is given chances twice but I was. I'd like to think I was born to do this."

"The show hasn't started yet but I'm so glad Boss Vic and Viva trusted me with this. This is going to be one of the toughest shows, we're already saying there will be a star and I'm honored to be part of this show." says Andrew E.

Mark Bautista says "First time to cohost and it's kinda reminding me of the previous competition I was in with Sarah Geronimo. I can't wait to see how this show goes. I'm not tied up to any network but I'm still with Viva Artists Agency and we're looking for the next star!"

Yassi Pressman added "I feel so lucky to have been given opportunities by Viva and this is one of it. From Diary ng Panget and other shows, it's a good feeling they continue to trust me."

"Viva plus the expertise of TV5 is gonna be in one show, so just imagine. I'm happy and optomistic. My expectations are very big and the fact that this is here, I'm so thrilled about it. The brightest stars only get proper names, but it's not always easy to be a star. We're looking for that one person who wants to make a name for himself and how he gets to embody that. There are only a few who want to get it for themselves." says Ogie Alcasid.

"We went to the previous format, auditions, weekly and monthly finals, a whole year of searching for that one star. So we're going to have a great run. The program is made to find that person, it's been a few years already and it's time."says Direk Monti Parungao.

"There are things that are discovered, there are some manufactured and some are really born with it. We've done really good things in the past and this is the next one, hopefully we'll find more!" says Boss Vic Del Rosario.

Auditions for male and female applicants (13-18) will be in SM CITY Bicutan on January 9-10, SM CITY Sta. Mesa on January 16-17, SM CITY San Mateo on January 23-24, and SM CITY Novaliches on January 30-31. There will also be other legs in Cebu, Davao, Batangas, Dagupan and Metro Manila on March so watch out for that. This will be aired on February 6, 2016 on the happiest network in the country, TV5!

No Harm, No Foul Premieres on TV5

Monday, July 06, 2015

It's been an inside joke to basketball players everywhere, with pun intended when you say No Harm No Foul. It goes to say that what it means is that if you're not into physical sports, then don't play at all. Some even go the mile and say No Blood No Foul but that's another story. TV5 on the other hand would like to play with tons of humor as they started this show just last Saturday and we were at home to watch it.

It's funny because right from the first episode, they introduced the relationships of the characters and from the looks of it, this actually looks quite promising especially for the sports stars included in the cast. Aside from the gigantic and good looking star Ogie Alcasid (who's name is Jawo in the show), he'll be with real deal basketball superstars like Gary David, Beau Belga, Willie Miller and Kiefer Ravena. I really felt there were huge screams at home because some of my friends were fans of Kiefer and from the looks of it, they fit right in on the show. Gary David and Beau Belga didn't hurt anyone during the filming but they look really funny since they play different roles aside from their basketball player duties in the show. Kuya Wil aka Willie Miller would test you with his Taglish anecdotes so listen carefully when he cracks jokes, a thing or two. Jawo played by Ogie had problems in the beginning because he couldn't pay rent anymore and Crispa (played by Tuesday Ledesma) asked him several times to pay for it since he's really behind 6 months on his payment. Her father aka Coach Tim Co played by Yoyong Martirez always sided with Jawo so he could always get away with it. Crispa even went the mile and put all his things outside the apartment but ended up only following her fathers wishes so Ogie just stayed at the end of that argument.

Ritz Azul, Valeen Montenegro and Sophie Albert actually stay in one dance studio and are going to be the vixens of this show. I liked Sophie's character Kim because she'll be the love interest of Kiefer here, and she's also gorgeous, but a little slow. The funny antics would really be loved by many I'm sure, if only Sophie would have been single in real life, like Kiefer is. I'm still a SoVin fan though.

Randy Santiago isn't just the director of this show, he'll play the role of Lebron with his sidekick Wade played by Long Mejia. Their funny antics will grow on you especially Long, he executed and delivers lines like a genius, he's really funny but I hope he's going to work real hard with slapstick moments just like in the past. Now just imagine the cast I just mentioned and put them in one show, that ladies and gentlemen will be the start of something big as you'll get to watch them every week now on TV5! The July 5 episode was definitely funny and I hope they get more natural as the coming episodes show 8PM every Sunday on the happiest network!

TV5 Rolls Out Sunday Powercast Noontime Show "Happy Truck Ng Bayan!"

Sunday, May 31, 2015

You know what I love about TV5? It's their ability to innovate and make shows from scratch. This weekend, we covered what seemed to be a secret show they were working on for almost a year now. The cast, was just about everybody on TV5's stable. It was also going to be in a time slot where the strong only survive. They are challenging some really good programs from other networks but wouldn't just provide stars and variety, they're adding in comedy, dance, singing in a whole different way. Different way? Yes, different. How you may ask? Well for starters, they're not just doing it inside the studios, aside from that, they're not letting the audience travel all the way to the Novaliches or Mandaluyong studios... they're going to you! Yes, they're going from town to town in this huge one of a kind Happy Truck as it converts into a full functioning stage and do their production numbers, game segments, songs and dances on the streets where you are. They're going to your barangays and play, go around and be with you as they launch this noontime show called "Happy Truck Ng Bayan!".

Happy Truck Ng BayanHappy Truck Ng BayanHappy Truck Ng Bayan

For starters, they had us surprised with new faces as the "New Generation Sexbomb Girls". Same intensity, same body qualities and strong disposition that they'll be getting the whole cast and the crowd dance with them on the show.

Happy Truck Ng BayanHappy Truck Ng BayanHappy Truck Ng Bayan

There's no other channel that features some of the newest stars in different shows such as these kilig crew. Imagine Sophie Albert, Vin Abrenica, Chanel Morales, Akihiro Blanco, Shaira Mae and Mark Neumann as they take you into Wattpad Presents themed games and portions in the show plus their own production numbers. They're cute, gorgeous, amazing and if you get them in one frame everyday, wouldn't that be awesome?! Oh and if that ain't enough, Superstar DJ Tom Taus will join the crew. Isn't that too much? Well, there's more!

Final Battle of Manila's Rising Stars Happens Today at Trinoma!

Sunday, February 01, 2015

If you're not doing anything this Sunday, February 1 at 5PM, please do take the time to watch the biggest Singing competition in this side of the world - Rising Stars Philippines. This will happen in Trinoma Mall's Activity Center. The top 50 singers from recent auditions in Quezon City were invited back last January 29 and were narrowed down to 16. It wasn't easy because they had to go through live interviews, and auditioning in front of a panel of judges. Today, February 1 will be the Final Battle for Manila's Rising Stars, and these hopefuls will vie for the final prize which I was informed to be the biggest ever yet in singing history, make sure though that the talent equals that first! They'll be picking 2 winners from this leg so they get the chance to be in the Grand Finals to be televised soon on TV5.

The Grand Finals will also be graced by TV5's brightest stars like Danica Sotto Pingris, Rr Enriquez, Jeck Maeirhofer, Lj Moreno-Alapag, the stars of Happy Wife Happy Life which talks about housewives of Philippine's most promising Basketball Stars. There's also Tuesday Vargas,  Wendell Ramos, Sophie Albert, Mark Neumann, Shaira Mae, Nicole Estrada, Chanel Morales, Malak So, Marvelous Manzano, Alberto Bruno who stars in the gag show "Tropa Mo Ko Nice Di Ba”. Gelli De Belen will be there, she hosts TV5's Solved Na Solved a talk show about money matters and legal problems. Not to mention the one and only Empoy who plays the twin brother of Derek Ramsay in top rating Mac And Chiz, I bet you can't wait to see them all in the flesh! You'll also love the program's hosts Ogie Alcasid and beauty queen Venus Raj who'll be the main hosts. I'll tell you later about how the picking goes because I'll be there as well!

What I like about it is that the audition process can be done via the booths they have in the major malls, the application which you can use at home, or just about any other computer that can access their website via http://www.risingstars.ph. To know more about their future auditions, please like their Facebook Page by searching RisingStars.PH and following them on Twitter at @RisingStarsasia. This is a production of RisigStars Inc., see you there!

TV5 Launches "Call Me Papa Jack" and "Rising Stars Philippines!"

Thursday, January 22, 2015

Have you seen the lineup of shows that TV5 is coming out this 2015? If not, then this is your lucky day. We attended the launch a few days ago and got first hand information about the new programs they're planning to show this first quarter. It's epic because there are tons of artists and superstars that have gone to the Kapatid network, ultimately to bring you even better lineups this year as they challenge GMA, I think I heard from them a clear message that they are going to claim the second spot this year, and why not, they've been third place for quite a while and it's not bad to claim a goal right? Haha. Anyway, here's what transpired during that evening.

Oh yes! It's Papa Jack!

On the video screen I saw a familiar face (he wasn't there, apparently he was on a team building trip in Boracay!). Papa Jack apparently jumped ship from that defunct program he had in GMA and will now be part of TV5. The radio show is now on TV and he's still not going to hold back on giving love advise as he's pretty much known for that. He's also going to interview a ton of TV5's artists so you better watch out for the first few episodes that will include a tell all on their love problems, yes, all on air! I can't wait to see how he's going to put these guys and gals on the spot once it shows on the Kapatid channel. It's going to be entitled "Call Me Papa Jack!" every Saturday night. Now isn't that something to look forward to? Well that's not all of it, there's more!

Ogie Alcasid

If you love singing in the confines of your bathroom, your room, or just about anywhere that there's Videoke, then this new show from TV5 is for you. It's called Rising Stars Philippines and it's going to be hosted by Ogie Alcasid, Venus Raj and Mico Aytona. It's going to show on February but will hold auditions nationwide, even in the smallest barangays. I have seen the one in Trinoma lately and they're still open. If you don't want to audition there, download the app on Google Play store or visit RisingStars.ph and enter the competition from there. One entry per contestant and you don't have to lineup like other shows. Who knows, you might just win something big if you get to be the ultimate Rising Star! It's going to be on February 28 and run until May so you've got to get your vocal chords ready and read my other article here for the gist. Who knows, your dream to stardom might just come true! Again, there's more!
