Blogging everyday takes so much work and if you were in my shoes, I'm quite sure about 80% of you would quit doing this because of the sheer amount of articles you would need to dish out as soon as an event or launch happens. 5 Working Selfie Tips for Selfie Addicts

I'm a photographer.  With the years of experience I've had taking shots for portraits, fashion or runway, I think I have mastered one skill every self confessed selfie addict would proudly want to have, taking selfies. I am not saying I'm the best, but I've had enough experience explaining the science behind it and what constitutes a perfect selfie. 

1. Setting the mood

Your face has tons of expressions, it can portray sadness, happiness, if you're angry or fierce. It's a canvass and all you have to do is fill that up with the mood you want to express. Start practicing with mirrors because it's one fool proof way of seeing yourself right before someone else sets you up for a shot. You can't be happy if you're in a graveyard, nor can you laugh loudly when inside a church. Take the initiative to check which goes where because the last thing you need is a place to take the attention away from your face, remember, this is your show so don't forget to set the mood before immortalizing yourself in photos.

2. Look at the Light! 

The face is not an artsy subject so don't make it age or become too noisy by not giving it the light that it needs. Looking the light source gets that extra glisten in the eyes that makes it that remarkable windows to your soul. I've seen a lot of people fall in love with people who have gorgeous eyes, so if this is your asset, go ahead and flaunt it!

3. Use Your Angles

I do this in every photo that has been taken of me. I know I'm a little fat than usual so I have practiced a lot of times in the mirror and made sure if other people catch me in photos that I show at least what's left of my jawline. You have to know how it will show on photos and that will make you look thinner. A few pounds off photos will do you wonders and if you do the same with poses, you'll get a lot of people to complement you and say you lost a few pounds, even look taller at times.

4. Take LOTS of Shots

A smirk, a smile, a pose, couldn't be catched by one shot. Thank the heavens above for digital cameras and smart phones because as long as you have space, you can try to capture that moment. Delete quite mercilessly so you still have photos to choose from and enough memory to take more photos. 

5. Choose the right Hardware

Now that you've covered the basics, you need the more powerful hardware to do the job. Take for example Cloudfone Excite Prime 2 Pro. A Selfie Competition for Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism

Our country has been known to be the selfie capital of the world and if you think it's useless, this might actually change your mind.

 You see on May 22, 2017, countries around the world will be commemorating the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB). A couple of agencies like the Biodiversity Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-BMB), together with the Deutsche Gesellschaftfür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) will be mounting a “Selfie for Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism 2017” photo competition. The contest will start from May 3 to May 15, 2017.

The IDBD is an international recognized event mandated by the UN (United Nations) as part of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) which was signed and ratified on 1993. The pact was made to promote global awareness on biodiversity and its impact on worldwide ecosystem and how everyone should be involved in its protection. This year, they are going with the theme of "Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism”. As I see, it's not that complicated because the photo contest will revolve around scenes showing efforts to sustain biodiversity. There are countless organizations and volunteer groups that have made this part of their lives and if you capture those moments about Philippine sustainable tourism, those Eco-tours, sights in the water, forests and wildlife, you could well win this.

Make sure you find unique plants or animals found in land, water, air. Be your own ecological hero and make this a great way to show your photography skills and help information dissemination about the cause. This is open to photographers 13 years old and above.

To join, you can use channels like Facebook or Instagram by liking the Biodiversity Challenge Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/biodiversitychallenge/ first and following the Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/selfieforbiodiversity. Then include a short description with the subject of the photo as your title, your name, age and the hashtag #selfieforbiodiversity2017 plus a short narrative of aboout 100 words on what biodiversity means to the person and how Filipinos can help conserve the Philippines rich biodiversity. Make sure you include your opinions on how YOU could take action and inspire others and perhaps the story on how the photo was shot. Your entries must be taken over the past year until the Selfie for Biodiversity contest event in May 2016. Do not submit previous entries anymore as it will be disqualified. You can only get this submitted from May 3, 2017 to noon of May 15, 2017 only, so don't be late!

The winner will get round trip airfare and accommodation for 2 (two) to any of the protected area or biodiversity areas under the jurisdiction of the DENR-BMB or a project site of the GIZ PAME Project (except the Islands of Batanes). How to Take Perfect Summer Selfies with VIVO V5 Plus

This is an article I'm writing not with severe authority but merely tips that I've gathered over the years for one activity that Filipinos love so dearly, that's taking selfies! Oh no, don't tell me you haven't taken one a few days ago, because you've been doing it secretly I know (even if no one is looking!). So I'm gonna give you a few pointers on how to do it this summer! 

Take Photos with Enough Lighting

Take those shadows, those super dark places out of the equation. It makes your images dark (obviously) and your shots noisy, that's why you see those grainy stuff on it when you see the output. Stay Colorful!

The SELFIE Cafe at Robinsons Galleria

There's a new coffee shop in the 2nd floor of Robinsons Galleria in Oritgas. It's called the SELFIE Cafe. It's a Filipino brand, a brain child of entrepreneurs who wanted to make their kids dream into a reality. Yes, this was actually thought of by kids and why not if the technology is already available right?

 They have really nice pastries and breads available and they invested heavily on the coffee. They wanted a specific blend and they spent a lot of time in testing beans from the local market. They wanted a robust, full bodied, dark chocolate like coffee and they couldn't actually get it with the local ones to fit their palate. They resorted now to directly importing from Italy so they could get the coffee they need to brew. The fact of the matter is, they're making not  just the coffee special, but the way they actually prepare it. The cafe is actually called SELFIE for a reason, they make your selfies into your cup of coffee, no joke!

They make this right in front of you. They only can do this on the frozen concoctions though because the gist is they need something to hold the amount of whipped cream that it's going to be printed onto.

They have a section of their coffee shop dedicated to take your selfies. It's like a studio so you can either transfer your existing ones or just take your selfie with their phones. They have a booth at the side where all the magic happens. They will top your coffee cup with about an inch of hard whipped cream, so there's a surface to print on your portraits.

Or if you're too shy and you're with a rowdy bunch, take a GROUFIE instead and print them on ALL your cups! You might have to wait a little longer though. Plus their SELFIES are really detailed, like seeing a real photo printed on your frozen treats.

OPPO F1's Quest for the Perfect Selfie!

I'm no Nyle Dimarco, but just like the most of you, I do take selfies. It's not a sin, some people like it, some don't, but if we are going to take selfies, I feel it should be done with the best hardware, best phone with a camera capability that would make you still look very real, and good no matter what side of you face is being shot.

I'll be on a journey next weekend with our friends from OPPO as they take their OPPO F1 series to the outskirts of Manila and try their best phone yet that promises to take outstanding selfies, now that's a challenge I'm willing to take.

The OPPO F1 series was launched last February and has got an 8MP Front Camera that can take an 84 degree wide angle shot. It also has an f 2.0 aperture and a 1/4 inch sensor that means it would be able to capture more light when you need to, without being all too bulky in form. 

Now it all looks so promising as they have software that also comes with that excellent hardware, but I really havent held that phone yet so take this recommendation with a grain of salt. Hopefully we would be able to use it by next week. I'm raring to test it on myself, my friends, and even take a LOT of videos just to make sure. Hopefully it won't dissappoint as it's predecessors have performed quite well in the past.

OPPO Launches F1 for Selfie Experts

We spent the whole afternoon taking selfies in pop up studios in Trinoma's activity center for Oppo Philippines. They're launching the F1, a model made specifically for the Selfie Expert. 

It boasts of the 8 MP front camera which is more than enough for that distance so if you have the urge of taking selfies, then you've got the phone for it. It's got an 84 degree f/2.0 aperture cam plus a 1/4 inch sensor so you get more light out of your camera compared to other phones. It's also got tons of filters plus a beauty feature so you get both hardware and software working for you in those selfie shots you were gunning for.

The rear camera is also 13MP so you kinda get professional grade shots when you need it, where you need it. It's also available in Rose Gold and Gold which looks soft even if it is metal. At 5 inches, with a gorilla glass coating, this might be in the mid range already as it sells Php 11,990. An octacore phone with a Snapdragon 616 processor, that's actually affordable. I haven't been to Nobu Hotel but I've seen it from the outside when I went to an event a few weeks ago. I guess the secret is out already about this Japanese centric place in City of Dreams Manila. Now, it's even going to be a better experience for everyone who visits the place this month as they whip out their guns and get you the chance to win a romantic and entertaining set dinner for two at Nobu Restaurant Manila.
