The well loved Taco is loved all around the world and in the Philippines, I've always had the pleasure of having one almost every week because of Taco Bell. How to get that TACO

It's actually quite easy. Just look for specific Taco Bell promotional materials with a special QR code in it. Scan that QR code with your phone (can be done with iOS or Android) then send a Taco emoji. If you've accomplished that, follow the instructions and you'll get a FREE Crunchy Beef Taco courtesy of Taco Bell on October 4th. If you haven't had one, think of seasoned beef, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, lots of cheese, hot sauce, in a crunchy taco shell exterior. They're basically throwing a taco party in the Philippines and you are the guest. Now how's that for taco love huh?!

Huawei Announced Milestones During Developer Day in the Philippines

Phone and ICT giant Huawei just reaffirmed their commitment to improve the AI life in the country during the recent Huawei Develpment Day 2021. They showcased how they would be aggressively doing this by forging strategic partnership with existing educational institutions and companies with Huawei Philippines Consumer Business Group. Currently they've got 96 percent local apps in the Huawei AppGallery. During the session, key partners presented lik mobile wallet GCash, health platform KonsultaMD and popular radio station WishFM.

Huawei Country Manager George Li reiterates "We would like to partner with the country's top brands so we can expand more products locally. A seamless AI life is possible and we are part of that interconnected world."

During the event, they announced milestones with regards to HarmonyOS 2. For starters, they introduced DecoupledOS and hardware, second is improved sharing capabilities on devices, smooth and low latency operation of hardware that carries it and also, the DevEco Studio for Huawei app developers. They also gave information on Petal Search and the updates implemented on it. Now it's going to help local businesses connect better. Huawei Developer Day Set on August 20

Tech giant Huawei has been doing a lot and they're raring to showcase their feats this coming August 20 which they earmarked as Huawei Developer Day. This comes with their commitment to build and grow their ecosystem in Asia Pacific which includes the Philippines and they'll be unveiling recent developments of Harmony OS and how it would fit in the Filipino Huawei fans home.

They will also be featuring Huawei Cloud and how it has sped up digital transformation in the country. The company has continued to be committed to offer the best technology experience to their customers and hope the country also enjoys seamless AI life. SB19, KathNiel, Sara Geronimo Shines During Acer Day 2021

The Filipino is world class, and that evidently was shown during the recent Acer Day 2021 which was streamed on Acer Philippines' channels across the region. During the event, our very own Acer ambassadors Sarah Geronimo, Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo and SB19 brought the house down and showcased how it's done in our part of the world. The online concert was epic not only because of the artists that were performing, but the thought of doing it during the pandemic. These people performed and proved that bringing entertainment can be done, as Thank You" for supporting a brand that has done remarkable achievements in the past year. 

During the Acer Day 2021 online concert, they also copped the number one hashtag on Twitter #SB19ForAcer beside other ones like #AcerDay2021 and #LiveYourWorldWithAcer here and in other countries.  Sara Geronimo also starred in a music video entitled "Live Your World" just like other artists from other countries, and to give you a glimpse of that, here it is on YouTube!

DENR-BMB Launch Digital Wildlife Training Platform on World Wildlife Day

March 3, 2021 marks the celebration of World Wildlife Day. Part of the celebrations in the Philippines include DENR-BMB's launc of their digital wildlife training program which is now available online. Aside from that, they also held art/poster making contest. This year's theme also talks about "Forests and Livelihood: Sustaining People and Planet" which is quite an important subject. 

DENR is making sure that the government conservation and protection efforts would be continued and this includes wildlife. All these even during the pandemic. The online conference was also hosted by eco warrior and celebrity Antoinette Taus.

Jim Sampulna Mining and Muslim Affairs of DENR says "The theme for the world wildlife day this year has a vital role in sustaining not just biodiversity but the livelihood of people globally. The green oasis not just provide food but wildlife. Forests are important for our indigents to provide energy, food and shelter. By working together we can stop bio-life traders. Happy world wildlife day to everyone." 

Senator Cynthia Villar says "Thank you for having me in the World Wildlife Day 2021 celebration. I'm happy to be here with you today. This is very relevant for our time, as a legislator, I have filed yesterday an act strengthening the wildlife conservation particularly the wildlife protection act. RA 9147 is a measure that enables PH protect wildlife comprehensively including acts detrimental to wildlife including fines and penalties. The trade and transport of wildlife species has been international in nature and we have to have more teeth of which this new RA provide with more protection with our resources. The constant exploitation of wild fauna may have effects on diseases which are from animals, in turn spread viruses. We need not to only create awareness, but to take action with its protection. It would be too much for a country such as ours if we don't take care of our environment. Our country is one of a few biodiversity hot-spots. The more we protect, the less we lose wildlife. Now more than ever, there is a real need to strengthen our laws and include the protection of the world's most bio-diverse areas. As in any environmental issue, our actions are essential. It's part of our duty to make this world better than we found it." 

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri Senator announced during this occasion filed SBN 2079 An Act Providing for a Revised Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act. This appropriates funds for this cause and other purposes. 

Ricardo Calderon AFoCO Executive Director says "This crisis reminded us the relationship between animals and human, the global efforts has started and the Philippines through DENR should recognize these developments. We are hoping to work more closely with DENR, the Biodiversity Management Bureau in making sure our resources and fauna are protected."

Also present during the occasion was Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu. He lauded the addition of two online learning platforms launched on this day as it enables the DENR to uphold its mandate of educating the people about the country’s wildlife resources despite the prevailing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. He says "Thanks to technology, we are able not only to communicate remotely, but also make sure that the Filipinos can continue to educate themselves about the environment, especially in protecting our wildlife species. Thanks to partner organizations as these breakthroughs would not be possible without their help."

The DENR Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) launched this eTraining Course on  Basic Wildlife Law Enforcement (BWLE) which can be accessed through https://elearn.adb.org. The site contains 7 modules and 19 stand alone topics which professionals can use which includes topics such as Wildlife Law Enforcement in the Philippines, Species Commonly involved in Wildlife Crimes and more. Aside from that, they also introduced the Wildlife Philippines Podcast which were developed with 20 higher education institutions under their Institutes of Environmental Governance. It is available on streaming platforms worldwide.

During the event, they also announced the automation of the issuance of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) permits which aims to improve to control international trade of endangered species and reduce opportunities for corruption and fraudulent documents. This will also enhance their capacity for information exchange with other countries.

This is a step ahead for those who care about the environment, our flora and fauna. The Philippines is in the middle of it all and if the right things happen to local agencies, the laws and regulations are passed, then all of the improvement and red-tape lessened, this could benefit more Filipinos and our future generations.

What Happens in National Taco Day? TACO BELL Answers!

Taco Bell has been my comfort food haven and even though I abhore eating alone, I do it in their store in Gateway Mall in Quezon City. Here's how I made my Tacos 🐮♥️

It came with instructions! :)

They prepared all the ingredients, all cooked, freshly chopped, the sauces too.

Took a short minute to heat this in the pan

Then got the ground beef in the base

Put in a dollop of sour cream in the center

Then a mound of chopped iceberg lettuce

Topped it off with Tomatoes and Cheese just for kicks. It was darn tasty!

Then of course there's a crunchy version!

Heat them up a minute in the toaster

Do the same toppings, even more Beef in my taco

Oh don't forget to spice it up with THE hot sauce

It just makes everything better 😊

The Boy Called Nash

Well, it looks like he's not a boy anymore. He's already 18, and has already got a very successful acting career. He's now getting ready to become a full pledged Director but he's doing the legwork and studying Film right now. A tall task, but he deems it wouldn't be a challenge if it wasn't. The former boy is now a man, a very humble one in fact. 

I have lauded fans about how they sternly support their idols, but people don't know how much equal or even greater effort their idols actually do just to thank them. I saw that a few days ago. Nash was obviously tired, probably lack sleep and really in need of coffee. This was a big surprise get together and his fans organized this. He didn't turn sour over his tired earthly body, and felt he needed to THANK those that have supported him when he came back to showbusiness and accepted him wholeheartedly. I understood where he's coming from, and this was as he says "A place where there are no bouncers, no rails or boundaries to prevent them from coming to me." so they can personally get in touch with him literally and figuratively. Now I know I was a little uncomfortable because Nash was being hugged, kissed, smelled and taken for a fan's dream encounter, but even so, Nash wasn't bothered at all. He was totally game, because from his standpoint, it was one of the few times that he could personally THANK them. I was really touched by that gesture, so imagine how crazy that must have felt for the fans who were there that evening. He thinks YOU are the reason why he is where he is right now. I think that's so sweet of him.

Nash isn't a boy anymore, he's a man, and he's taking you for a great ride. I hope you all appreciate the things he's done for you as he continues to grow in the industry, acheive his dreams for himself and his family. 

Thank you Nashies, BUM for having me during your get together. I have seen a lot of love that evening and I hope this continues. Don't ever think Nash is taking YOU for granted. Because I saw how he appreciates you, more than you'll ever think he can. I hope you cherish those small moments with him, because he wouldn't do that if he didn't love you right?

Sofitel Manila Says "C'est Trop Bon" This French Month

This month at Sofitel Manila sparks another reason to celebrate Bastille Day, the French National Day done every July 14. It's celebrated around the world too and since Sofitel Manila boasts of French charm with the Filipino service, they're going to make you feel the love the whole month by doing "C'est Trop Bon" (which literally means It's So Good) bring the best cheeses around the world (Oh yes around 220+), wines, plus the various French staples into the world class Spiral buffet restaurant this month.

Sofitel is hooking you up with Cheese experts too by letting you experience advanced appreciation of cheese with Colin Chandaras. He's going to get you learn a little more about this lovely dairy product at Spiral's L'Epicerie during lunch and dinner from July 6-10, 2016.

During the press conference, they had us learn more about 200+ cheeses which this man brought from France in a suitcase. It smelled so good in the room, it was heavenly!

I'll let you appreciate the cheese more by having you see these all on photos! Enjoy!

On the far left, that's Ossau Iraty AOC. From two regions in France, it's nutty, delicious and robust.

There are tons more like the Thym Tamarre, Bleu de Gex, Pelardon, Maroilles, Tomme Corse, Valencay (the lovely moldy one), Rouleau de Provence, Morbier Bichonne, Brillat Savarin, Fourmette croix de Chazelle and Nenuphar (the one with lots of herbs!).

Now I thought this was cheese, but apparently it's butter and those things are not mold but herbs and spices mixed in with pure butter. It was pretty good!

Sofitel's very own chef's whipped up a Cheese Fondue using a really great bottle of wine and used 2 types of cheeses just for this contraption. I loved how fast they did it, I told them how you're supposed to keep the bread on the fork otherwise you're going to kiss the person on your right. They were creeped out hahah!

Spiral French Month Specials

Aside from the lovely cheese, you've got a lot of French staples to be served in Spiral. On Bastille Day, the rate will be only Php 2,100++ for lunch, Php 2,750++ for dinner. Make sure you ask them here for reservations or inquiries.

Oh yes, you're not seeing things. These are French Macarons now included in the dessert buffet in Spiral.

They even had us sample some cute Eclairs, really good!

This one is called Tartiflette. It's a dish commonly made in the Savoy region. It's made of Potatos, tons of cheese, lardo and onions.

If there's cheese, there's bout to be pizza right? This one has anchovies, olives, some nutty leaves on top. It's a mix of different intensities of salty, and savory. Then placed on a crunchy crust, it was really good.

You can't call it a French spread without including Escargot. They've got herbs done in the sauce then placed on the snail shells. I was a little hesitant to try it at first, but it was really good.

You might think this is just chicken, but it's the sauce that makes it special. They used Foie Gras and melted it in a velvety cream sauce. Chicken with Foie Gras Sauce is made of dreams.

This is Duck Confit with Lentils. Crispy skin and soft meat, plus the lentils that have been boiled for quite some time it kinda melts together. Really good.

Petit Pois A Ala Francaise (A small pot of France) is a pot of green peas, onions and lettuce. This is poached in butter, crème fraiche and stock. This is a classic vegetable dish found mostly anywhere in France.

Beef Tartare is raw beef, mixed in with onions, capers, spices, herbs, some home made mayo on top too. I love this!

Come celebrate French month at Sofitel Manila and do what the French do. Tons of cheese, lovely buffet spread, one of the best in the world!
