My House Husband: Ikaw Na! : OctoArts Films Official Entry to The Metro Manila Film Festival 2011!

Friday, December 23, 2011

To tell you honestly my friends don't watch Filipino movies anymore because of foreign films pouring in. They say the quality isn't just the same. The only time we do is when Ms. Judy Ann Santos or Ms. Eugene Domingo appears on screen. So this Metro Manila Film Festival we would probably only watch those which have them on the cast... The thing is there's one sure film that we'll watch and we already have our schedules fixed for "My House Husband: Ikaw Na!" which is Octoarts films entry this year. I was blessed to see them a few days ago via a bloggers conference. I was so glad to see them in the flesh!

Hosting the event was Melai Entuna from http://styleandsoul.blogspot.com and the fab SHALALA of Walang Tulugan and Juicy fame. He was hilarious! While Melai brought entertainment to the stars, she's Ms. Eugene Domingo's favorite subject hehe.

Oh guys, please tame your horses and hold on to something while I introduce a sexy vixen and bombshell. Ladies and gentlemen, she is the one and only Ellen Adarna!

Ellen played a cameo role as a bank teller in this movie. Though it was short; she really wanted to be with the stars... and wish to probably have a full length film next time starring her. Why not? I'm sure you guys won't mind! :)

I was so happy to see my friend Rocco Nacino. The young hunk never forgot me from the crowd. He is playing Juday's brother in this film. I didn't know he was a registered nurse in real life... He's playing the same in this movie. Being the confidant of Juday in the film he had to dish out sound advices so she wouldn't go ballistic on Ryan's character. Yes, she got jealous with Uge's role in the film. I guess to keep her sane Rocco's role was quite important otherwise their relationship would end in shambles.

I secretly asked myself why Rocco's so good looking? Let's get a little in depth; What keeps his mind and body that gorgeous? He mentioned on Twitter that he's got it maintained by his business venture called "Elorde Boxing Gym" Ortigas and that's whats keeping him busy. It's located at the Home Depot on top of JayJ's Inasal (yes I've been there to look around). He's got real deal athletes as trainers; hence his sculptured physique. I guess i should visit his boxing gym more often so I can get rid of this tummy. No thanks to beer eh?! LOL!

Rocco also said that he's admittedly a Mama's boy, much like me hehe. I actually asked them a hypothetical question at the end of the blogcon... Since the three were single (Rocco, Ellen and Ms. Eugene) I asked them if the only way to achieve happiness is by becoming the "third party", would they do it without repercussions of karma and ethics? Rocco said if I am going to love somebody, I wanna love the right way. (Naks! Natunaw na ba kayo girls?) =)

Ellen Adarna said to that same question that she knows what she's worth and it wouldn't be just for seconds. She says she deserves to be the first. Ms. Eugene surprised us with her answer! "Sa tinagal tagal ko ba namang nagintay sa third party lang ako tutuloy?! Wag naman!" while we burst into laughter! =)

Who in the world and the right mind wouldn't laugh at Ms. Eugene Domingo's antics. The mood at the event was so light because of her. I guess she knows her craft well and she didn't bat an eyelash in telling us she wants to learn more about it still. She also said that she will always have theater as her first love and will pretty soon come out with a full musical movie, it's still in the works... imagine that! You probably know I love her right? I assume you do too?! She's more than enough reason to watch this movie I tell you!

Eugene Domingo plays the role of Ryan's best friend who in a nutshell becomes Juday's source of insecurity and jealousy. House husband Ryan on the other hand played possum and told Juday to calm down and say everything's platonic. You should watch the funny sequences and the slapping of Ms. Eugene! It's hilarious yet very real!

The Agoncillo's were a sight to behold! Starstruck is an understatement. From the intimate dinner we had a few weeks back, I had a chance to prepare great question just for them as they were talking about relationships and family that time. I asked "Would you stay together as a couple for the sake of the kids? If you knew that they would be happier with you together, would you do it for them?"... Ryan thought about it for a second and uttered no, he says he'll be more happier without the complexities of just staying together for the kids. They can take care of them even if they are separated and the last thing they'd want to do is involve the kids in the trouble. They haven't really encountered anything drastic to be in that situation and are very happy they won't. They really look good together no?! =)

So for anyone looking for a feel good, "tons of laughter but still keeping it real" family movie, don't fail to watch "My House Husband: Ikaw Na!" on December 25 available in theaters nationwide! This is Octoarts Films official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2011!

My House Husband: Ikaw Na! : An Intimate Dinner with the Judy Ann and Ryan Agoncillo

Saturday, December 10, 2011

This Christmas, we all want OUR family to be happy. You want to get a smile or two in any activity that you are doing with your loved ones because the season definitely calls for it. I think I've got an idea what would make you do this AND have a laugh or two too. Why not watch My House Husband "Ikaw na!" this MMFF season, it stars Ms. Judy Ann Santos - Agoncillo, Ryan Agoncillo, Eugene Domingo and a lot more!

I was so lucky to have had a chance to talk to these two unadulterated stars of Philippine TV and Cinema last weekend and boy was it AMAZING! My friends and I ALWAYS watch their movies and its like a mini reunion of sorts from people in college because secretly we thought Juday was part of our barkada. We still do. When she has a movie or two during MMFF, we make it a point to reserve a day just to watch her even with our busy schedules. They'd probably all die of envy now that I've got a photo of Judy Ann and Ryan :) let alone a photo with THEM too! So maybe later on I'll tell them "Nakita ko na si Mareng Juday" hahaha.

It was my first time to see Ryan Agoncillo in the flesh. His boyish looks and charm was definitely evident. He has a good demeanor. He was actually very formal while talking to us with some hits here and there. I remember the YSPEAK days when he was always dealing with idealistic people like us. I felt he was like a big brother talking tonhis siblings about his ideals in raising a family and how important it is to give time for them. He said their success was brought about by them being HONEST all the time. It was quite remarkable to see them raise kids in a lifestyle that so harsh like the showbiz indistry. They shielded them from the bad side of it. They made sure they still have time for each other and adjust if necessary sine there are times when Judy Ann/Ryan would find the other already tired from work. I wasn't surprised they were that busy since I always see them on TV. They never had issues about money because that is the last thing they would rather fight about. Judy Ann said it would never ever happen to them let alone think about it. They want to raise their kids right and free from the evils of show business.

Judy Ann was so thin. The last time i saw her was in the Del Monte Pineapple commercial launch and the Junior master chef presscon. She had a different glow on her. She wanted to stay healthy and look good for her work and for herself. She was very charming and quite confident even if she said that she was a little nervous talking to bloggers like me. She was hilarious at times and I felt right at home like she was indeed one of my barkadas that I haven't seen in a long time. These were the times that I wished she were really... pushing my luck? LOL!

Eugene Domingo was phenomenal as they said. When you see her, you know what a successful actress would be. Her understanding of the craft is remarkable and her acting is phenomenal just as all the films she did before. Ryan says he didn't know Eugene was that small because he always thought of her as LARGER THAN LIFE! We all agreed.

Just as their lives are interesting, the movie talks about relationships between husband, wife, best friends, kids and how they deal with the situation when the macho man suddenly becomes the house husband. This interesting norm that is so taboo to be talked about ordinary pinoys. How would a successful wife treat his husband? How would a husband feel now that he's not the bread winner? How jealous can the wife be when the best friend from next door suddenly becomes too close for comfort? How would the husband take care of the kids now that he's in charge of the house? These are just some of the questions that this family oriented movie wants to answer. Wouldn't it be nice to laugh and learn about it? Make sure you watch My House Husband "Ikaw na!" coming out on theaters this Christmas for the Metro Manila Film Festival 2011! This is produced by Octoarts Films and directed by the one and only Jose Javier Reyes.

Remember! This film stars Judy Ann Santos, Ryan Agoncillo, Eugene Domingo, Agot Isidro, Francine Prieto, Miriam Quiambao, Roco Nacino, Renz Valerio, Derrick Monasterio, Lexi Fernandez, Ms. Boots Anson Roa, Dante Rivero, Bobby Andrews, Lui Villaruz, Sabrina Man, Lance Diaz and John Aaron Novilla. A star studded cast which makes this film a must watch this MMFF season, need I say more?!

My House Husband: Ikaw Na! : Light Moments with Ms. Eugene Domingo

Thursday, December 01, 2011

I am a fan. I can say that right out when it's about this lady. The one who is smart enough to be picked up by fast individuals. The one that is SO effective in acting that she can practically do anything. Ladies and gentlemen, she is Ms. Eugene Domingo.

She's the sole reason I still meet with my college buddies. Everytime she comes out with a movie it's like a mini reunion for us and we need to watch her film by hook or by crook. It's a good thing she's even got a lot of films this coming Metro Manila Film Festival. One of those to take note of is the REAL movie My House Husband. She never fails to put on her personal touch and antics on every scene that she's actually included. It's doubly pleasurable because the couple I adore most watching with my barkada is also in this movie... Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo. We seldom act like she's our friend when we talk and make punchlines so I'm part of the crew that's so excited to see this film!

Ms. Eugene Domingo plays as a non relating - non sensical mistress that looks like popular bombshell Anne Curtis in all sides of the coin. If you had fun in her previous blockbuster films, this will surely give you something new because she hasn't really played a role like this. She practically wanted to have a nude scene in a new role soon to the delight of the bloggers who were there. I think I was the only one who had a serious bug that time because for me, she had every right to do it with what she exposed during Babae sa Septic Tank. That film by the way is gunning for an Oscars Trophy... so just imagine what could happen next!

This film is directed by Direk Joey Reyes, you can opt to see his interview on my article HERE.

And this is produced by OctoArts Films! Sir Orly Ilacad was there to grace the event!

Ms. Eugene Domingo has been the catalyst in making one film a box office hit in the few movies that she did for different film outfits. This December when you watch the entries for Metro Manila Film Fest, make sure you take your family with you to watch My House Husband Ikaw Na! It's time that we take a moment and reflect that it doesn't matter if you are the one staying at home or making the money at work because both are IMPORTANT in raising a family.

In the film, Ms. Eugene Domingo's acting level is in the middle of AS IS WHERE IS and ELEVATOR Acting. She didn't find any problems working with Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo but found some awkward moments with Ryan. In the end, since they actually have lots of scenes here they ended up much more close than Judy Ann would know. They practically know each other better now and Ms. Eugene has high praises with the two.

I personally asked her about what she thinks with Piolo and the trouble he's going through right now but she opted to say one thing. The fact STAYS, SHE LOVES PIOLO, and PIOLO LOVES HER TOO! =) She says he's a VERY GOOD MAN, and she will never even think about NOT LOVING HIM... EVER!

There is a scene here that you have to watch out for... because according to Ms. Eugene, she's also got a nude scene in this movie. A memorable bit was when she got slapped on the face by Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo... a thing she would never forget because she was indeed slapped SO HARD!

She's so proud to have worked with OctoArts and other film outfits. She values her freedom and it's one of the perks she's enjoying now that she has become so successful! Aida Capinpin will surely be a memorable character you'll have to associate with Ms. Eugene Domingo come December 25, 2011. Here's hoping we could all break the 700 Million mark for this year's film festival!

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE HER! I Love Eugene Domingo bar none! And you will too once you get to watch this family- relationship themed movie called My House Husband: Ikaw Na! coming out on theaters this MMFF season! Make sure you WATCH IT!

KUMAGCOW MOOOOVIE REVIEWS : DESPERADAS 2 (All we need is Love)

Sunday, January 11, 2009

I had a blast last night when I went out with my friends to watch this Comedy film from the Metro Manila Film Festival called DESPERADAS 2 (All we need is Love). This is a sequel to the same film title last year which I watched with a different girlfriend lolz. It was nice to say at least becaus I was smiling at times and that's pretty hard to do in my books. Ruffa Gutierrez, Rufa Mae Quinto, Iza Calzado, Marian Rivera along with their fifth long-lost sister, Ogie Alcasid star in this very funny movie. I recommend you watch it!

Why you may ask?! I found it hilarious for one and you should never miss Ogie's role. That was the best! Ruffa (Isabella) is a non committing lady that tries a skin care business and made everybody else ugly. She was jailed in the last bit but bailed out by Ogie's character Luga Luda who is a princess of some filthy rich foreign island and kingdom in Africa. Rufa Mae (Patricia) had a rich boyfriend/politician that only made her into a bag lady for gambling/jueteng operations. The shopping was not that bad though... everybody enjoyed that in the movie. Iza (Stephanie) was a postpartum depression victim... after giving birth, she went to extremes of even trying to commit suicide in their front lawn. Eventually she was saved by a raindance by Ogie hahah. Marian (Courtney) is still a designer of underwear and bikinis that had a stalker and never got into bed with her husband because she said she was not prepared to have a baby. Ogie (Luga Luda) had a wonderful stint of having a boy of her own...her antics were just fun! I couldnt stop laughing in the massage scene. Poor boy got kissed a couple of times too hahaha. She had an unbreakable bond as half-sisters. The five are brought together by the love and affection they hold for each other.

All in all this was a nice movie. I don't watch Filipino Movies that much because they are somtimes predictable and too commercial. This was great considering they only landed on the 4th spot in the festival. If I were to judge they should have been second to Ang Tanging Ina nyong Lahat. ^_^ You should watch it since I gave it 4 KUMAGS out of FIVE.
