Ken Chan's PAPA MASCOT Shows in 100 Theaters Today!

Wednesday, April 26, 2023

W
e love Ken Chan, I mean, who doesn't? He's the most charming, adorable and very kind artist even back in the day. Today is going to be epic as his film PAPA MASCOT will be shown in 100 theaters nationwide. Ken Chan is a little nervous but so proud about it since a few of his friends already saw it during the celebrity screening a few days ago. They've been very supportive just like when Ken needs them, he felt a lot of pressure but he was happy how they reacted during that day. Some of them cried about the film, and told him personally why they loved it. The feedback so far has been very positive. He's also part of the producers, and they plan to actually make more soon.

Ken says "It's so touching to see the support of GMA and Sparkle management. They even supported me in my businesses, they send press and bloggers to help me in everything that I do, it's really a big help. I don't even have to request, they reach out to me and I'm lucky for that. Even if this movie wasn't produced by them, they encourage me to do more projects. PAPA MASCOT certainly was hard to do but I don't complain, because it needs to be shown on film, the characters obstacles, it's hard to have that be shown on screen but the story needs to be drawn. Like the character, I experienced the same when I was starting. I didn't have tents, I didn't have a place to go when I was just a nobody. I prayed for my success, it wasn't a joke and I even had my parents with me that time. I want longevity, this is my passion and I would want to be able to work with the industry's best right from the start."

This is directed by Louie Ignacio and he had to level up acting wise because it needs to be toned down as the personality of the mascot is big already. You will feel pain, you will feel love with PAPA MASCOT. Imagine what you'll feel in the cinemas, go watch it today please as I will too!

This is under One International Films.

Congressman Arjo Atayde Urges to Expedite Anti-Flooding Projects in PH

Wednesday, November 23, 2022

It's a sad, but we all have to face the reality that climate change is happening and we are getting the rut of its impact especially those located in coastlines, remote islands, plains, mountains, even cities too.

The weather has not been like what we have experienced in the past, and the existence of Super Typhoons has already broken what we all thought was already strong, not good. These days, it's not just the wind we're scared about. It's also the rain, the rising tides and ultimately, the flooding. We've been paralyzed in one way or another and this cost billions of damages, not just on property, but also lives.

We're so used to managing it, doing temporary band aid measures so it's so nice to hear someone acting on it. Recently. Congressman Arjo Atayde of the 1st District of Quezon City urging the government offices to prioritize the proper management and fast track completion of flood control projects especially in prone areas. This was said in his privilege speech on Tuesday and also proposes a Czar specifically just for that.

He utters "It's but timely to put one in the Executive branch to particularly address and ensure who will be responsible for coordinating with DPWH and MMDA. By putting a "Flooding Czar" NCR's various local government projects will be fast tracked putting priorities where it's due." He also made mention about the Metro Manila Flood Management Project that involves over 36 pumping stations, plus construction of 20 more (by October 2024), but so far only 1 has been acted upon. He also is pushing for funding from DPWH to make further studies in addressing this issue. It would also include the construction of retarding ponds in places like malls, schools, basketball courts, play areas, including the San Juan River.

Arjo also worries about his constituents like in Barangay Mariblo, Barangay Sto. Domingo and Barangay Talayan who already has experienced waist deep floods, to hopefully rid it with a more permanent solution for years to come. He also made samples out of Barangays in Bungad, San Antonio, Katipunan and Damayan who experienced knee deep floods. We are resilient people, but we should never resort to normalizing what we do during natural disasters and calamities. It cost the country 60.07 Billion last year and we should all do our part in making sure nothing bad like this would happen. The "Flood Czar" should take care of that.

JV Ejercito Pushes for Universal Health Care Implementation, Housing and More as he runs for Senate

Tuesday, April 12, 2022

J
V Ejercito has done a remarkable job in the Senate. For those who don't know, he's done several landmark bills including the Universal Health Care Law which aims to alleviate the burden of paying for hospital and ailment care for Filipinos nationwide. It would give apt health services, provide assistance in medical emergencies, but it needs time for full implementation hence, his hunger to go back to the Senate.

It really is a no brainer because aside from the actual groundwork in medical institutions and government agencies, it needs funding and he plans to have it sourced from projects that have not been able to utilize funds by putting them all together. He also have pointed out things that can be addressed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes the lack of medical facilities, rightful benefits for frontliners, healthcare workers and mismanagement of the PhilHealth program and this could be addressed by the Universal Healthcare Law which he authored. He also have put importance in Housing, Education and the Youth, Job Opportunities, Agriculture and Transportation which would benefit a lot of Filipinos especially now where we're all trying to revive the economy.

He also addressed rumors about laws and statements that have been misunderstood by the transport sector in the past, so it was actually good to ask him about that in person. Being an independent candidate, he's very glad that he got the support of Senators from different parties. Aside from that, it was extra difficult to campaign this year and told us about the hardships he's had and yes, it was a little difficult for him and his family why he wasn't supported by the parties he was expecting to carry him this year. All that is in this video plus THE GOOD ONE telling us about his projects:

You've got 12 Senators to choose this coming May, the stakes are high and if you choose the Senator who made this all happen... that would be a good one.

Legarda Reiterates Need for Innovation to Induce Growth and Development

Wednesday, February 23, 2022

It's been three years since the Philippine Innovation Act has been enacted and its author Senator Loren Legarda reiterates the importance of innovation in order to spur growth in the country.

She has previously spent three terms in the Senate and has placed these as key strategies in order to see economic development in the Philippines. The Republic Act No. 11293 will intensify the capabilities of micro, small and medium enterprises to compete with other businesses by utilizing advancements in science and technology and source needed change in these sectors.

Ms. Loren pushed adequate response from the National Economic and Development Authority, the Depart of Trade and Industry, plus the Department of Science and Technology in order to fund these projects and benefit various sectors including MSME's who are in need of expertise in the fields of finance, design, technology, marketing, quality assurance, promotion and intellectual property rights so they too can protect themselves. She sets the DOST and the Universiyty of Antique partnerships which bore fruit to great value in existing programs that produced needed support in the region that utilized agricultural produce and resources from the same province. It generated employment and opportunities for individuals and entrepreneurs in their respective municipalities. This resolved problems in malnutrition as people got work and pay, to put food on the table.

She also has seen the cooperation of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University in Bacnotan, La Union, funded by her office in 2018 which gives access to capital, skills training and assistance. This benefited fisherfolk, traditional weavers and farmers who work on fabrics like abaca, pineapple and banana that are naturally grown and sought after by international designers.

Ms. Loren says "We need to see effective implementation and proper funding for programs under the Philippine Innovation Act so we can help MSME's to sustain and promote their trade. This is done not just locally, but for the global market. This will surely benefit a lot of Filipinos." and I agree with that.

Amaia Steps Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony at The Junction Place Estate

Friday, August 06, 2021

Looks like Quezon City is going to be extra nice as Amaia Land just held their groundbreaking ceremonies for Amaia Steps at The Junction Place Estate. It's an urban development in Novaliches designed as a mid rise condominium that's not only quality, but very affordable.

Their first building called "Aria" is set to be completed on the 4th quarter of 2022 and has been already sold out. It'll eventually become 5 buildings with ample grounds and amenities. Aria also has 9 Floors and 208 units, sized from 23 to 48 square meters that are available in Studio, Deluxe and Premier models. This would be something attractive for professionals, government employees, or those who are just starting their families. The whole place sits on a 1.7 hectare land.

Security, fire safety, green spaces and the wealth of surrounding communities will make sure this will be the perfect setting to call your home. They also encourage sustainable ways of living as you become a part of the rising projects and progress in Novaliches and The Junction Place township.

This is just the start of developments in the communities up north, and with the places they've formed in other Amaia projects, this will surely be amazing!

Andrea Torres Says No Official Talk Yet on John Lloyd Cruz Project

Sunday, July 18, 2021

It's so refreshing to see Andrea Torres in GMA shows these days. She's definitely made a mark in The Better Woman, Victor Magtanggol, Contessa, Alyas Robin Hood, The Millionaire's Wife, My Faithful Husband, Pari 'Koy, Ang Lihim ni Annasandra and more but this new one with Dennis Trillo, Bianca Umali and Alice Dixson is going to be highly controversial as it delves on polygamy and religion, some of the most taboo things to talk and see on TV these days. We got to see her a few days ago via an interview online as she signed with GMA Artist Center again (renewal of contract) and during the blogcon, she told us a few more things about the upcoming show called Legal Wives wherein she'll be playing one of the wives. She's also the only one that's coming from a Christian upbringing which would not be easy to understand that she'll be living with two other wives under the same roof. Here's a video of that blogcon, please enjoy!

Andrea adds "It's very important for me that you are aware when you get on set, you condition yourself as a ray of sunshine, to make sure you lighten up peoples burdens. I also make it a point to make my projects better so the next one is even bigger. One of my favorite things is making back stories for the characers I play in series, I make sure I ask production, learn the script so I make sure to deliver and have the chance to make her come to life. The actions of Muslims to me now have a deeper meaning, they're very selfless, and when you watch this, you will see why they made sacrifices for Allah. It has changed how I view them, how they are family oriented, how they are as people. Diane and Ysmael are conflicted, but they love each other."

She also was aware to observe Muslim traditions while portraying the role and tells us "On set, we have Imams, we were taught how to pray, they also bring food, it was a different world. I really am amazed how they are with families, if it's too hard for them, they just follow what is on the Quoran, even if they don't want to do it, they do it right because it's there."

You'll probably be wondering how this would all feel as it gets shown on TV. Will you love her? Or hate her? That remains to be seen. She also has chosen to remain with GMA because she has grown to the actress that she is because of her experiences here. With the onset of actors going to GMA recently, she doesn't treat them as threats, but rather an opportunity to work with other actors that she wasn't able to in the past. She's raring to do that in the next few months, hopefully that John Lloyd Cruz project pans out if it is true, but so far there hasn't been an initiative for talk about it yet, so she would be happy to find out details about that soon.

Congratulations Andrea on your continued success with GMA Artist Center!

GoDaddy and AXN Launch New Reality Show PROJECT GO

Friday, November 27, 2020

GoDaddy and AXN just launched a new reality show designed for entrepreneurs called PROJECT GO. They are doing this in partnership with Common Ground, #CanB, Esquire, Female Network, Manila Bulletin and Rappler. This is a chance to make their ideas a reality and earlier, they announced the 4 finalists who will vie for the title. Businesswoman Maggie Wilson is also the host of the show. The Tung Brothers (of popular sardine brand Ligo), Rappler Lifestyle and Entertainment Editor Bea Cupin and Tina Shieh, the Marketing Director for of GoDaddy for Asia will be mentoring these guys and gals. It airs every week on AXN Asia, this is part of their commitment so help people succeed online.

Among hundreds, the lucky groups are: MINDOCEO, STAFFZ, LOOP STORE PH and AO Innovations Tech.

MINDOCEO

An on demand tutoring service, where students help other students to support education. Noelle Mison says "We have the help of GoDaddy Tools and we got to really enjoy camaraderie with the other contestants. We all had to shift to digital, the website builder was pretty useful in the show. It also taught us how to survive online. In the next episodes, you will see how we all grow. You will see how we learned from our mentors. Initially, we did the tutorial sessions on location, but it became nearly impossible when the pandemic happened. We had to do it online now and we had to utilize the platforms to make your our idea a reality. Project GO is about empowerment. It gets us equipped for our own communities. It's not like Sharktank, not a cut throat competition. They fostered growth. Our standard is quality education, we don't do this for money, and we really want to help children because we know how it feels to be alone. To succeed globally, we need to support each other. To identify what needs to be given support, to look at education from a different view and find out how we can improve it.  We are a social business, we need to give back to achieve greatness, to contribute to our own communities."

LOOP Store PH

Is a collection of ecologically responsible products. They provide solutions that would make packaging and other items be sustainable and biodegradable.

Pocholo Espina says "We learned that product packaging really mattered, when people started posting more about it, there was brand engagement even in the pandemic. This pushed more innovations for what we have. You've got to keep going. Initially, our mindsets during the pandemic was to wait it out til its over, but we are motivated now to do it rather than wait. There might be a little drama which will keep us on our toes, you have to see that in the show. LOOP Store had to close down last June because of the pandemic. In the past months, we had to re-learn how to open our store online. Now everything is easily accessible.We also got to use an actual domain and use resource that was already there. It can be accessed and be just a search away. All you need to do is get started. Since a lot are online now, you have to invest learning the platforms. Project Go is not a competition, it's all about empowerment, we didn't get to be pit with each other. A lot of our own standards come from our own environmental stand. We are not about just selling alternatives, not just an item, but to educate you and teach that your actions will have long term effects. We need to consider fixing basic infrastructure, we are cutting off even now with the internet connection that we are using; and that won't work with global markets. There needs to be more support with government and private entities, cut bureaucracy, feed ideas so they won't get discouraged. We need to be inclined in getting more of that in the country.

AO Innovations Tech

 AO Innovations makes full face masks for frontliners at subsidized rates. They utilize thier business to further push advocacy, and implement it with innovation. They quipped "It was exciting for us because we get to funnel our interests on our very own website. It is very important for us because our business is very dynamic. To pursue our dreams, to follow through, to make better with our families and our community. The GoDaddy team was so nice to give us tools that we could use to improve our products and services. In the next episodes you will see drama, you will see it all and will learn from what you will get to watch. I think Project Go as a contest is totally different, it is tech based, but it recognizes us beyond the product. We are for innovation and inventions, we want efficiency, to give our best every time and made it our standard. We believe we have come with a product that is current and answers a lot of things that are needed during the pandemic."

STAFFZ

This team offer back end solutions to SMB's so they could get career opportunities for those who need it most. Pearl De Guzman says "Ultimately, we really enjoyed the consultations we had with our mentors. There are a lot of opportunities online and with GoDaddy. With their tools, you can put up a website even from scratch. It made it easier to market the product. We have different stories, different branding, and you will see how we have all grown when the final pitch is up. All our clients are based online now too, the audience is also using social media groups, Facebook marketing, industry trends, to explore business opportunities outside your brick and mortar ways. You can also work on making your website on top of Google search results. Off cam, we are really close, despite having them as competitors, you'll get unbiased opinions from other contestants if what you are doing is not good and you will hear feedback right away. We need to have more opportunities for people that need it. For us, to succeed means to understand our customers first. To foster that relationship, so we could reach an even larger market."

Again, Project GO can be seen every Thursday at 8:25 PM on AXN. It can also be seen via AXN Asia and GoDaddy Asia’s YouTube channels, so you really won't miss it. Learn from industry experts and see who among these Filipinos will win Php 1 Million to make their dreams come true!

TRINOMA Celebrates the Holidays with I GOT STUNG!

Sunday, November 27, 2016

It's a fun afternoon at Trinoma and what a great way to start the holiday cheers but by a concert with the music of STING. An icon in the 80's he's proven how good music can take you anywhere, making him one of the most awarded songwriters and singer of all time. It's entitled "I GOT STUNG" and is composed of two acts, one of which is headed by STEPS DANCE PROJECT the events division of Steps Dance Studio. The company also benefits talented Filipino dancers, make them scholars no matter what economic background they come from.  Aside from patrons, we also saw street children in the audience, perhaps the production's way of getting them involved in the arts.

The musical director Mon Faustino and his band provided really good renditions of Sting's awesome music. We were hooked from the first song. With world class ballet and jazz dance performers, it was easy, smooth to note that Filipinos can do this in any stage. They also had guest performers from New York Jamal and Aubrey, teaching us a thing or two how it's done in other parts of the world, it was stunning!

Towards the end of the show, Sam Milby sang a couple of songs, the one with the dancer from New York was Roxanne, super touching. SOS Children's Village and Pushcart Foundation I think will also be getting proceeds from the show. Truly noble deed starting the season of giving no?! Ahh I could see the ladies already swooning to Sam Milby's songs, he even went out and got personally romantic with them!

This is just the start, there are more things to look forward to at Ayala Malls, especially in TriNoMa. You're gonna #LovEmThisChristmas!

Project Rebuild: Coca-Cola, Habitat For Humanity and Philippine Red Cross

Friday, January 10, 2014

Our brothers and sisters in the Visayas region definitely had better days. With the onslaught of Typhoon Yolanda, thousands of Pinoys from that region suffered a lot. We are still helping, and they are still mourning. They pick up the pieces and we still pray for them. Now more than ever we need to help them to get back on their feet. Coca-Cola, Habitat For Humanity and the Philippine Red Cross are joining forces to rebuild homes in the region and it didn't come at a better time.

Awww.. isn't that touching? For what its worth, the video just implied something significant. Each little help counts. If you are up to it, please do whatever you can to help out less fortunate kababayans in the Visayas but donating even a bit with Habitat for Humanity, The Philippine Red Cross. Each centavo, each peso you give them goes to rebuilding homes and lives in Leyte and other provinces affected by Typhoon Yolanda.

Remember, you can help!

Project Runway Philippines Season 3: The Finale!

Sunday, July 01, 2012

image003

If there were talented designers in the country, these four would probably be ahead of the pack. I got a lot of feedback, stories of nostalgia, shock and awe from the people who got to attend the last runway show of "Project Runway Philippines Season 3". The Finale will be shown on July 1, Sunday  at 8PM on ETC. Judges have finally chosen who among Milka Quin Redoble, Cheetah Rivera, Nel Claveria, Jr., and Amor Albano the next Fashion Design superstar and it wasn't an easy task. They were treated also to see the contestant's final collection; seeing how they reacted to each designer, it would surely be a hard battle.

1

The collections were superbly done I must say, the tailoring and silhouettes were unquestionably thought of. They have their own inspirations. They made each piece carefully to coincide with what they have as a theme in their own collections. It must be cohesive yet individually gorgeous. We've got some shots of the dresses they made for that evening!

One of Nel's designs for The Final Runway

Nel did this particular dress. He's the 30-year old overseas based fashion designer from Camarines Sur. He bagged the 4th spot in the runway show (which doesn't happen in the show's history). I haven't seen the rest of it though but judging from the top part I think he might have cleaned that up a bit. Errors in the final runway is inexcusable and that might actually cost him this final walk. Or maybe not...

============================================================
Just saw his collection earlier, turns out this particular piece is a fluke. The others were great. I bet he was running third among the designers.
 ============================================================

One of Amor's designs for The Final Runway

Amor did this one. She's a 28-year old fashion designer from Laoag City. Trendy in neutral-earthy tones and fabrics. The details look impressive. She's fighting for the spot and she's doing it.

============================================================
Amor's collection this evening was soso. It was a great attempt but seeing some of the pieces were cut uneven, some were not that great I was a little disappointed about her collection. She should have made better ones. She was the last on my list.
============================================================

 One of Cheetah's designs for The Final Runway

She's actually my favorite. Cheetah has undoubtedly made her mark in this competition. She's a 24-year old fashion designer from Manila. She's got drama on her clothes. I was told her set was Michael Cincoish if there's a word like that.She get's my vote.
============================================================
Cheetah was second I guess. I loved all her clothes specially the gold one with antelope antlers. It was not wearable but so proper for haute couture. She was my bet but didn't win.
============================================================

One of Milka's designs for The Final Runway

Milka runs a close second for me. With her more modern approach, she's probably one of the strong contenders. Now I wonder, will she be the one?
============================================================
Actually, her collection turned out to be in the classy, sexy, sleek department. She was the cleanest of them all. Her execution was feminine yet strong.She won. That's much for updates after seeing the show this evening.
============================================================
I don't know who's going to win. But I guess we're all gonna find out this Sunday. On July 1 at 8PM only one of these hopefuls will become the next Runway Royalty. I don't have to convince you to watch because I know you will!

Project Ruway Philippines Season 3 Premiers March 25, 8PM on ETC!

Friday, March 23, 2012

1

Fashion lovers and enthusiasts will have a grand time watching Project Ruway Philippines Season 3 come this Sunday March 25 on ETC. Yes you heard that right, it's the famed couture show that has engulfed the Philippine fashion industry by storm. Who wouldn't want to see this anyway? Hosts/judges Ms. Tweetie De Leon, Rajo Laurel and Apples Aberin share their expertise on this competition as each of the 15 contestants vie for that elusive title as the next great fashion designer! Mentor/Tormentor Jojie Lloren won't be too easy on these guys either! Ooh I can't wait to see them now!

ETC gave us a glimpse of what to see in the first season and I must say THIS IS THE BEST SEASON EVER! The personalities were awesome, you kinda laugh and cry in between. It was nice to see these people show their true colors as pressure, drama and that whole brouhaha of making a fashion statement becomes a tad greater in reality TV!

The designers on this season had the chance to show their creations last weekend and boy was I in the mood to shoot! I hope we won't have a hard time choosing between our bets!

Who will win this season? You have to option to choose between Ionica Abraham of Manila; Almor Albano from Laoag City; MJ Alminanza from Zambales; Yves Camingue from Cebu City; Nel Claveria, Jr. from Camarines Sur; Karla Galang from Quezon City; Jenno Gacasan from Cebu City; Glenn Gonzales from Pangasinan; Fatima Guerrero from Nueva Ecija; Enzo Libo-on from Bacolod; Joseph Montelibano from Iloilo; Lhenvil Paneda from La Union; Milka Redoble from Pasig; Cheetah Rivera from Manila; and Normannie Santos from Bulacan! Different personalities, different styles, different tastes. Who will pass the judges discriminating taste?

Imagine working with only two colors of fabric chosen randomly. Add to that the pressure of time and creativity... this is the first challenge. You are seeing this ahead of the Sunday premier.
Check out the things I got to shoot that evening!

A little busy on the front but quite an amazing job despite the time!

Chic representation of a bumble bee, structured and different patterns. I loved this!

The mid section was unflattering but I give the designer (who had more attitude and sashayed on the runway!) a lot of credit when he had to work with a 41 inch waistline.

Very chich, modern and feminine. But I might have seen this in shop racks somewhere. Maybe the design was too simple I dunno. The designer was beautiful though.

I don't like the top part. The neck feature is disturbing. Maybe if it weren't that busy it would have been better. He had to work with ugly fabric though and I credit him for that.

I loved this one from afar. But seeing the details on the garment was pretty nasty up close. Finishing would have been done better. But this really looked so hard to make.

His creation was nice. I would want to see the tailoring done a tad nicer. I love the hand painted details on it. Maybe if the waist area had more definition then this would be the winner.

This for me was the best done suit that evening. Details and structure was impeccably finished well. I hated the designer on screen though, maybe its just the show. He was nice off cam though LOL.

This was okay. Though I have seen this cut somewhere before. If it was made differently it would have made a difference. The color didn't complement anything. She just got Malas in getting that fabric. But the finishing and sewing is good.

I'd say this comes a close second. Great work on the dress and top. Nice tailoring. The overall thing was not boring. Congratulations on this!

It was too boring for me. It didn't show the designer's work. If this was done differently I'd scrap the whole idea. It's just too safe.

This was the crowd favorite. I like this one too but it might just come third. It was a surprise definitely. A little jerseyish.

This was just okay. It would have been a little more nice and cleaner. Overall its okay. He hated the model though LOL.

I wish the top part was cleaner and not so busy. I can see what he wanted to do but might have just fall short on execution. It's like 75% done I guess.

He's done a remarkable job despite the fabric colors he had to work with. This is a good attempt. Maybe this would place fourth. I like it.

Good job guys we're definitely world class! Congratulations to their French TV Director and staff who definitely has done a great job presenting this season! It was truly exciting! I can't wait to see the rest of the show on Sunday, March 25! Wouldn't you just love that?!

Congratulations on a successful launch! I'm sure this will be a hit to Fashion Photographers like me!

Oh I'm not done yet, I've seen a lot of beautiful people that day!

See? Those are the exact reasons why you should watch it on March 25 8PM on ETC! Congratulations also to Resort's World Manila for hosting the venue! The Genting Club is so posh! Project Runway Philippines is presented by L’Oreal Paris, Pond’s Age Miracle, and in partnership with Mega Magazine and iAcademy. Capisce?
