Viral Rap Artist EZ MIL's Starts "PANALO" Homecoming Tour on April 29th - Manila

Thursday, April 28, 2022

I've had the opportunity to ask questions a couple of times on Zoom to interview EZ MIL. After his hit song PANALO blew up in the charts, the clamor to have him here in the Philippines grew. Sure enough, as restrictions in the country relaxed a bit, he hopped on a plane and arrived to his homeland the Philippines to start what we now call "EZ MIL: PANALO Homecoming Tour 2022".

The press conference was held in an upscale bar in Tomas Morato, Quezon City a couple days ago and I was so happy I got to see him in the flesh. The good looking guy was flanked by his equally talented sister Raining Sorrow, Froilan Canlas, Kiefer Sanchez, Kelly Canoza, HBOM. Ren and his entourage. They were excited to talk about the show and what was going to happen in different parts of the country. This April 29th, they're starting the tour in New Frontier Theater in Araneta Center.

EZ says "I'm excited, I'm ecstatic that I will get to perform with the people I look up to. I used to explore music of what genre I should do, I learned a lot from that, it was my outlet back then. Right now we have 2 singles out but we'll have an album out soon. I want to attempt to always do better than what I use to just do covers with. Being in the states, I just want to give back to all the people that helped me to get here including co-artists and some of my family. Super excited to do this, we will go crazy on stage!"

We got a little piece of what he'll be doing in the concert, so here, enjoy!

EZ MIL Set to do "HOMECOMING" Philippine Tour

Monday, March 28, 2022

A
fter his viral video PANALO became a phenomenal hit in the Philippines and elsewhere in the world, EZ MIL will be coming home to the Philippines. This is a welcome treat for those who would love to see him in the flesh, perform live on stage for the first time.

Tickets will be sold now at EZMILHOMECOMINGTOUR.COM, TicketNet, SM Tickets and the artists lineup is crazy. For starters, there's Darren Espanto, GLOC-9, Kiefer Sanchez, HBOM, PLAN B, DJ Nix, Raining Sorrow and TNT finalist Froilan Canlas.

Raining Sorrow is EZ Mil's sister, she will also be performing with them during the tour and she says "As his sister, it's cool that he's doing what he loves." HBOM says "I'm super excited to see these people, it's been a while since I've been back in the country. I'm in awe everytime EZ MIL works, coming home after 20 years of not going back is really exciting. My new single is also out, it's called "Lahi" and hope you get to watch the music video."

Darren Espanto says "It's so nice to be here today, I'm very excited to perform on stage after 2 years. It's something that is inevitable, find ways to improve your craft, something that I'm still doing now, I want to continue to showcase a new Darren, a more mature side of me."

GLOC-9 says "Thanks for having me, EZ this is so exciting. I'm very excited thinking of being here in an event with him, he knows his craft, I'm excited for him and happy seeing him do what he loves. I'm excited because just to see artists evolve how we create music, I'm thankful for that!"

EZ says "I'm just super excited, this is something incredibly huge for everyone, for OG's, for those who are just going on stage, by what Gloc and the greats said, maraming salamat for making this possible for all of us. I just hope we get to have a lot of fun. I can't wait to be there. The feeling of doing it on the Wish Bus, I didn't know how people would receive it, there were just people that I met and I did my thing. It was just a moment that captured me in time, it's a little thing with mic in front, a spectacle that I'm wondering why it is still gaining views today."

He adds "I'm not nervous, the effect of PANALO is something that is probably already been loved by the crowd, it's just going to be a different vibe. It's just going to feel like home. There will be some songs that will collaborated, it will be a surprise so you just have to see it on the day itself. As a performer, I am just myself, I'm gonna try to do my shiz and at the end of the day, live is live. I'll perform my songs, I have respect for songs, whether I perform it or not it'll be good. Stay as strong as you can, we're going through a crisis, but whether it affects you or not, pakatatag lang. My Dad's music was different, it surrounded me a lot, my regular life, it wasn't something that stick out for me and rap is something that caught my attention, in highschool I got to listen to more, in college I started looking for deep lyrics, the reality of metal which I did had words that was extreme. I just be myself, I can't do anything than just be me. I just deal with people the same way they do to me. Music or what you see on screen is work, Imma keep working. Let's just have fun doing what we love to do. Gloc has been an inspiration, in highschool, those were just the times. He's always got a special place in my heart. He makes music that you understand, it's good times!"

About other artists "SB19, BGYO, BINI, they'd be killin it now. I know they will be doing great on the world stage for sure! We should keep the momentum going, strike while the iron is hot, it's easy to get to the top, but keep the foot on the mold as we're going to be seen by an even larger audience including media."

Gloc says "I think when he gets here we can probably do something, as advice, just love what you do... treat your dream like an actual person. When I don't do well, I talk with it, like a relationship, to love your craft and it will love you back. If you do that, and see what you carry is different, you will see things happen."

Tour locations include his hometown of Olongapo City (APRIL 22, 2022 4PM - 10PM OLONGAPO CITY REMY FIELD R7CM+MCX), Manila on APRIL 29, 2022 5PM - 10PM at the Araneta Coliseum, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Zambales), SMX Davao in Davao City (MAY 01, 2022 4PM - 10PM), Albay Astrodome in Legazpi City (MAY 06, 2022 4PM - 10PM), Camp John Hay in Baguio City. They are being supported by WISH 107.5, directed by Paolo Valenciano and produced by MAK Entertainment Services.

NOBRVND Releases "SEXBOMB GIRL" Under Warner Music

Thursday, July 01, 2021

Seen the video, and I'm utterly impressed. Rap artist and producer NOBRVND has just released a new single called "Sexbomb Girl" this week, a very light, uplifting and melodic rap song under Warner Music Philippines.

The Sexbomb Girls were an iconic local girl group in the late 90's and was considered the "Best Selling Female Group" of all time. While making this particular single, he was inspired by songs that had their own muse like international artists depicting their perfect woman from girl groups abroad. NOBRVND thought about it and figured, why do that when we have our own iconic ones. He grew up listening to them too, hence the inspiration to make the track with the successful girl group's name on the single as well. He's got lots of influences and judging from the this particular songs vibe, he renders it into something that's catchy, dance-able, made from piano, violin, brass and electronic music. He's already got a multitude of songs released in the past  like “Bakit”, “Langit” and my personal favorite “Sinayang” (which was catchy, vengeful and gives a little feeling of regret).

Nobrvnd sees this all as a touch of what's to come with his made EP called "Get This Bread". He says “It feels so good to finally finish making this EP. I have worked on this album for so long and I almost thought it wouldn't see the light of day. I really had doubts, and discussed this on the album. I hope people enjoy listening to it, and my music. We're planning to have "Get This Bread" be released around the last week of July."

For more of Nobrvnd's music, you may follow @WarnerMusicPH on social media. Stream his album and this single on all digital platforms and if you dig it, go watch the official music video of "Sexbomb Girl" on YouTube. I'll embed it here.

Filipino Rapper EZ MIL Breaks Internet with hit song PANALO

Thursday, February 04, 2021

Got the chance to be in the press conference of EZ MIL, a phenomenal Filipino rapper who broke the internet with his strong rap skills and very nationalistic lyrics to the delight of Filipinos around the world. The good looking guy is only 22 years old, very talented, and is currently based in Las Vegas.

Ezequiel Miller now known as EZ MIL says "I would like to thank God, for the opportunity to do this and FFPP management. My Dad is Ilokano. Today, let's get it started. 19 Million views in 6 days is just crazy. You know, I'm very happy that the work I put in bore fruit, I am thankful for those who tuned in and I'm excited to go forward. I would just like to continue putting out content and more music projects. It won't be all the time that I'll explore, but I will find the way to get patriotism involved in my songs.I want to explore a lot of things, this is my way, my personality, music and rap is my way of going up. It differentiated because each way I tackled, it had my passion. It's also me trying out different things, it has my love of music in general and I'm willing to take a risk entering the game with as much genres I can pull off. I'm based in Vegas, I am here for family reasons. I hope to take it elsewhere as much as I can. I think it's an honor to be compared with Francis M and Gloc 9, heavy names who impacted the industry but I want to be put in my lane and I will continue to forge my way in music. I don't want to have a corrected version of the song, it blew up because it made people talk, I would like to have it stay that way. Yes I would like to penetrate the Hollywood scene, but it will be out when I come out with songs. I'm trying out different things and I want to push forward with different types of songs I put out. There could be something that happens out there, but I draw inspiration from Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, my personalities are different in songs, in terms of mixing that up into something, I might do it, it has crossed my mind, so let's see. Yes definitely I will have plans to go to the Philippines too but we don't know yet about the pandemic, we're going to see soon, that is in the plan of the team. I used Carinosa, it was dear to my heart since highschool. It's not in my plan, but an all Tagalog song is on my mind but we don't know when, maybe we can reshape what Filipino rap is around the world and hope people listen. Anyone who wants to be an artist, don't be afraid to be different. You begin like that, but if you start mixing, just keep going and don't give up on it, get angry! That would be an interesting idea to re-do my father's song, it is something you can expect, we don't know yet, but let's do it."

He adds "The Ilokano lines was just the most savage lines, it was angst, all or nothing, the abrasiveness of my voice that time, that was what it was. I was watching anime with my sister and I was trying to calm down, I didn't want to freak out really. So many factors came into that song, the recipe I think is I'm a proud Filipino and it shows on that song, it is because of that reason. There is this actual joke in my camp, if I fall down, I already have 2 songs written. I'm just a regular guy, who just writes music, I do recordings on my phone and sometimes I wake up an idea, sometimes I don't. The direction I wanna go was already there, this song Panalo didn't take that long because I just had to adjust. I don't see myself in the battle arena. Kultura was a music video which I did with HBOMB, it will come out on February 21. That video was just so hard to do, it was like a movie. Wether they do come out, just keep an eye for it, I hope everyone takes a listen. On my first concert, I would want my favorites to be there. I want to work alongside them, I want to still be me, breathe the same air as them. I would say it's the form of respect each other receive in the platform. The scene of the OG's deserved to be respected, but competition is us against the world, not us against us. I'm interested in acting on TV or movies, I don't have any leading ladies in mind. I am thankful to God for the success and being able to provide for my family, that's my priority. It's more than I can imagine or dream of, I will explore what I love doing the most and that's music."

His song "Panalo" is still on the Wish 107.5 YouTube Channel exclusive, so if you haven't seen it yet, make sure you do.

This guy has awesome talent, and he's definitely going places.

The End of EX BATTALION

Wednesday, May 15, 2019

We saw a very furious and angry Aiai Delas Alas over lunch in Pamana Quezon City. This apparently stemmed from her boiling anger towards her rap crew Ex Battalion. For those who don’t know, Aiai served as their Manager around early 2018. Hearing their hit song “Hayaan Mo Sila” she was adamant to get them as talent and guide them to the crazy life of showbusiness because she has been in the industry for years.

Knowing they are from the underground scene Aiai felt then that she had to help them fix their lives. She’s like their second mother, trying to fix bouts of personal and professional problems since late last year, but she never had given up because she felt she had to help them make a career out of this, and hopefully become successful artists themselves later on. She says “I don’t know how it all came off because last week, one of them quit and told me via chat... then almost all of them followed suit. There are also some instances where I didn’t scold them even if they were a but unprofessional not going on performances and events they had a commitment with. I fell flat, on deaf ears sometimes because I am their manager. Now they might be facing charges with Viva I dunno, and without Mark, I don’t think I should even get them gigs. This is a traumatic experience for me, especially if they didn’t show up on gigs and I get contacted by producers. The last time, I told them they will face the producers lawyers and I wouldn’t be able to help them. After this, I don’t think I’d even want to manage people anymore. All I wanted to do was help these people, because I thought I’d be blessed more by God if I do that. It has happened so many times and tons of people told be about it, one year and two months isn’t a joke.”

She might be trying to make this a little funny while she delivered this but she’s seriously disappointed. I don’t think they would be able to fix this, will it spell the last time we’ll hear of EX BATTALION?

You be the judge.

EX Battalion Signs With RRJ

Thursday, March 15, 2018

You’ve heard their songs being played in every nook and cranny in the Philippines especially with the young ones who feel and relate to their lyrics, who am I talking about? It’s EX BATTALION. The rap group just signed with popular shirt and jeans brand RRJ and they have a lot of plans for the group now that they are now endorsing the brand.

Patrick of RRJ says “We are excited with EX BATALLION and you know how popular they are right now. We believe in their talent, we believe in them. Music Videos, billboards, possibly meet and greets. We will have ad campaigns for them.”

Ms Aiai says “Thank you RRJ for making them your endorsers, we are extremely happy for you to trust us. Hopefully in God’s grace this is just a start, seeing them on a billboard I feel like a stage Mom. They will have a tour in the US so they also have to have physical cd’s as the Filipinos in the US will have that. So expect that later this year.”

Ex Batallion says “Now that we have people who believe in us, we are very happy that they choose to sponsor us, they came at the right time. We feel we made it, we felt we have the potential and very thankful that my brothers in EX BATALLION will be suited up by RRJ.”

“Our swag, color coordination, that’s all going to be seen in our fashion collaboration with RRJ. We will have limited edition items which we will be working with them soon. We want to make our name right, we talk about it, we don’t want to fight. We started in an amateur rap contest, knew each other, we were in different groups but happen to know each other so we formed as Ex members of previous groups. I was skeptic that when Aiai found us on social media, she called us and it was legit. We sang and got 1 Million views, then we got booked left and right after seeking help with Ms Aiai. That’s when it all started. Way back then we didn’t know who will appreciate our songs, we previously had explicit lyrics and it was a challenge for us to make more wholesome songs.

Their members uttered “We have haters, we know, but they are the reason why we are doing our best. Now that we are here, we even have more, but it’s okay we’re getting the fruits of our labor. We also didn’t have help with our videos back then, but now with everyone’s help we have people who watch our videos. They now see us as artists and it’s a good thing with the situation of the Philippine rap scene. It’s hard to make music without a video because it makes everything interesting. Now we are thankful that people are offering their help, especially Ms Aiai. We just asked for help and everything fell into place. It was nothing about money for her, we wanted to stay independently produced. But she did it out of her heart to help us and we just felt she was the right fit to be our manager. We think we will prioritize digital first.”

Stay tuned with what they will be doing in the next few months as Ms Aiai Delas Alas and RRJ has a lot in store for them. They will be very visible in shows, locally and internationally.

You can really dream no?

Young JV: Doin' It Big!

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

We sat down this afternoon with good looking pop rap star YoungJV and got a little personal as it was free for all when he accommodated questions over coffee at Baang Coffee in Tomas Morato. Born Eduardo JV Arancillo Kapunan III, his ilonggo roots was quite evident in the way he talks (malambing), we also felt he was softspoken but quite confident. He exudes a sensible urban young guy with rap and hiphop influences but none of those bad traits at all.

He's a good guy, but a damn good looking one. Aside from his music, he's also venturing into acting. You can sometimes say that it's already a norm in the entertainment industry. He's admittedly learning the ropes and also continually studying in the hopes to be better in this craft too.

His new album is released by Star Records, he's happy he gets to work now with one company. He made a remarkable improvement in his career and he attributes that to the first people who helped him specifically ASAP; this was when he guested for the show. He's happy with his career and his music now because he got to plan a more pop RnB approach this time which was both his decision and star records. Now he's got fans of all ages wherein before it was almost more underground. He says he feels "the need to be artistically free but in hindisight, if it doesn't put food on the table then you won't go further with your career". He wants a balance between the two and he's now also concentrating on singing wherein before it was much more of just rap.
Pop, house, acoustic, he sees music so free now that you can't contain it into one genre. His influences are life experiences, a heartbreak (which he's gone through a lot he says), relationship would actually delce him to write. He did all of the lyrics in this new album and he's proud about that.
Doin' It Big has got 11 tracks. I suggest you go and watch the video he had with Myrtle which has been getting a lot of views on Youtube.
Your Name (featuring Myrtle Sarrosa)
Intro - Doin' It Big
Get Up & Dance
Rock This Town (featuring Laze & Yumi)
Kailan Kaya
Tanong
Boy Meets Girl (featuring Yeng Constantino)
Alay (featuring Akiko)
Got To Have You
Hurts So Bad (featuring Karylle)
Pinas
He's under Cornerstone now and he's excited to plan out the next few years with them. He decided to be with this talent agency when they got the chance to bond on their US tour.

You can touch everything but not his hair, he's Young JV and he's still got a lot to prove. He's doing a damn fine job already and I can't wait for the projects that he'll probably do with his new album, his management and the new recording company he's working with. He deserves all the good things that he's getting now and with the fine young man he's become, I won't be surprised he'll be a superstar on his own right pretty soon.

Congratulations Young JV! I'm rooting for you!
