Triton Paints Get Lead-Free Certification

Saturday, March 02, 2024

Are you into building? DIY? Or just fixing things? Chances are, you're probably going to use paint in one or more of these projects and in the Philippines. The direction is to make sure that lead would not be used in manufacturing paint. Recently, a Philippine company just earned their certification for being Lead Safe Paint particularly the ones under Roosevelt Chemical Incorporated.

The dangers of lead in paint has been already studied, proven and should be eliminated. Human health is prime, which is why we should act now. Even with laws passed, the Philippines is just one of a couple of countries that still sell them, but it should be stopped.

Hon. Gilbert Gonzales says "This is my second time attending this kind of forum with paint manufacturers. I'd like to congratulate Triton Philippines for achieving this. This has a great effect for human health, lead safe paints and the quality of it must coincide with environmental safety. They are aware of the ill effects of lead paints, the civil society organizations and our partners are slowly moving towards safe products. In everything we do, we hope we gain more businesses that look at the environment friendly products and why it should be the norm in the country."

Richard Cruz from DILG says "Paints are now lead free, it will help not just the folks who live in homes but the community they belong to."

Charity Agbayani from OPDS-DILG says "Traditionally, it contains harmful chemicals and with the improvements,  toxins that are in paint should not be a problem anymore. Our homes and workplace should be lead free, so generations to come would not experience the harmful effects of it anymore."

Aileen Lucero of ECO Waste Coalition "Triton paints have passed standards and now proves how they are the right kind of paints. This is one concrete way of protecting our children from the harmful effects of lead in paints. The DENR, DILG, and you are all moving in establishing standards that would phase out lead containing paints in the coming years. The advisory which called government units to not purchase paint that contain lead is a step forward and we congratulate them all for doing what is right."

Solon Sy the VP for Sales and Marketing of Roosevelt Chemical Corporation says "We have always felt this is a step forward to the lead safe certification. This is our commitment to our partners, customers, for a sustainable future. This has been the result of expansive research, and we know that families will benefit from it. We are stewards of environment and health, and these lead safe paints will be at safe spaces. Thank you for your trust and making Triton Paints the right kind of paint "

Reginald Yu the President of Philippine Paints and Coatings Association says "We celebrate the remarkable achievement. In behalf of our organization, our heartfelt congratulations for being certified lead free. I've had the pleasure of witnessing their hard work first hand. They have been a pillar of excellence in the community and have earned our trust and respect. This highlights their commitment to excellence. They are now a benchmark for paint manufacturing. As industry leaders, family friends, their support have always been commendable. Our member companies want to push for industry goals, for the benefit of generations to come. We are assured there will be more, congratulations once again to the Sy Family, may your success inspire others."

Teodoro Cayetano the Municipal Engineer from Roxas Palawan adds "The efforts of the Triton Family and Roosevelt Chemicals did not just comply, but have provided a reiteration to executive orders and ordinances to become lead free in our town. It was just recently approved, ad we will be a partner to follow provisions of the law. I'll make sure to follow requirements and support Triton in using them in our projects, as we find their efforts phenomenal for our country and Roxas."

Here's part of the press conference on video earlier. Please, enjoy!

Triton, Rosco, Primecoat, Acri-Lux, Lotus paints and their other products are now lead safe certified. You get premium quality finish, sustainable and eco friendly products from Roosevelt Chemical Inc. Because of innovation, they were able to make this safe, economical, and quality. Their commitment to your safety is their priority.

Congratulations Triton Paints!

Buckle Up Baby Event at Mall of Asia

Friday, May 10, 2019

Republic Act 11229 is the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles act and it has been signed by the President last February 22 and Fathers, Mothers, just about anyone is in panic to make sure they are complying with the law and that means getting a really good and dependable child safety seat for their family car. This afternoon, I was invited to the Baby Company event called “Buckle Up Baby!” at SM Mall of Asia who wanted to showcase the best of their wares and educate more Filipinos about child car seats.

Tons of brands like Chicco, Aprica, MaxiCosi, Joie, Picolo and Gracon took to the stage and Ms Teresa Ponce of Baby Company says “The law is for infants and children, to lessen death and injuries. We aim to promote the use of child seats in motor vehicles. We want to educate consumers, the parents and the community. The Baby Company Buckle Up Baby will be at the Mall of Asia Atrium until Sunday and we will be here to explain child safety, for us this is a pledge to save the lives of children in the Philippines. Make sure you buckle them up before you drive!”

Cheryl Justiniano of Nursery Care Corporation says “Studies say that child car seats can save kids in sudden stops, opening of doors while moving. This is such an important change in child safety, this event also showcases the value of a child car seat. We brought experts here with us, and each car seat is accorded to the age, weight and size of babies. We are proud to also feature Hyundai who partnered with us to see how these car seats fit in real life. We will visit other malls in the country, we move forward with the thought of having travels all safe with a baby.”

Ann Espinosa of MMDA says “We are blessed to have seen an adapted law about child safety in motor vehicles. It is now mandatory for us to have a child restrain seat when transporting kids in a motor vehicle. It will diminish accidents, will be up to par with international standards, and people will learn to know how to choose the right kind of car seat for their children. Thank you Baby Company and Nursery Car Care Corporation.”

Again, the Buckle Up Baby event will be at the Mall of Asia Atrium until Sunday. Make sure you drop by and check out, learn from them if you are looking for car seats for your precious kid.

Keep them safe!

Philippine Airlines Launches New Inflight Safety Video

Sunday, February 19, 2017

A couple of days ago, I spent a fine evening with proud executives, their flight crew and a couple of press people to witness the launch of PAL's new inflight safety video. If you've already flown the country's flag carrier, you've probably seen the one they previously had and the company felt it was time to make a new one. The first one was adorable, but this time, they thought of going the mile to show off the country's finest destinations while they actually give you the needed information so you know what to do in case of emergency.

This time however, they're not going to use models at all. They've got regular joes like you and me to tell you the inflight video details and they've done it through a search. It took countless hours and tons of manpower to choose who would best fit each scene, but they did it.

Now if you're a foreigner, you'll love to check out the sights and sounds of the Philippines. In this 4 minute video, you'll see a couple of landmarks which are iconic ones around the country. Remember though that we have 7,100 more. This is just the tip of the iceberg, and local people also love it. In my Facebook timeline alone, I've seen about 15-20 people pronouncing how proud they are to see this. For me, I actually dig what they've done with this one.

Here it is, enjoy!

Goodyear Unleashes Wrangler Triple Max

Thursday, July 28, 2016

Spent the evening at Goodyear Wrangler Triple Max Launch over at Green Sun in Makati. I saw Goodyear APAC, Asia and Philippine executives discussing how important the Philippine market is for their brand. A roadtrip has that unique ability to make the family, the community close and Goodyear has been a good part of Filipino motorists. They are gearing towards making it more affordable, but not discount quality which they have done through the years. Now, they're making that roadtrip even more special by launching the Goodyear Wrangler Triple Max!

Goodyear executives have announced how they carefully made this tire withstand the elements in a tropical country like ours. They know we have special needs. For superior breaking performance, improved wet weather driving control, road hazard resistant, they made the Wrangle Triple Max with innovations that also came from their technologists and consumers like us. They asked, and they know thay the mid sized SUV is a special segment and it is what families need in places like these. It is dependable, sage and has that Hydro Grip Technology so you get superior brake performance, so you eventually would worry less and just enjoy driving.

That peace of mind is insurmountable and can only be given to you through quality products. The ASEAN and the Philippines is growing and purchase of cars will happen even more in the next few years. They have seen growth already and it might not stop in the next few years. The cavity design, tread compound and architecture of materials, you can depend on Wrangler Triple Max just like its predecessors because they know why safety is your number one concern when you drive with your family.

Bridgestone Teaches More Filipinos About Tire Safety

Wednesday, July 13, 2016

You've probably heard of the brand a couple of times since they're very involved in the sports cars industry or have probably seen it in the streets of Manila once or twice in your lifetime being used as radial tires of cars or jeepneys whatever the case may be. It looks like they're upping the anté this time and figured to address one of the most important part of the Filipino motorist's life, and that's safety. Bridgestone Philippines' Ms. Ruby Gan says "Hindi na pwede ang pwede na!" (which literally means "It's not okay to be just okay!") a standard that is mostly uttered or brushed off by Filipinos. Bridgestone feels we deserve the best and if it's just mediocre, we definitely do not have to just accept it as is. They tell us how it is important to have quality tires because as per statistics, there are tons of accidents that have been caused by poor quality tires and this has got to stop. You've probably seen it increase quite rapidly in the rainy season where buses even cars go off route or fall into ravines and cause death. It's not a lauging matter, so they've also launched a Free Tire Check Service Program at Bridgestone Philippines which you can now access through http://www.bridgestonetires.com.ph/tire-center so you and I could get educated about tire safety, a thing that they hope would address lack of tire knowledge. They are doing this for free!

Now you've got a place to ask for motoring concerns, driver safety, and know how your tires can get you better mileage, make your car fuel efficient, and lessen your carbon footprint. They also have videos and tons of material that can make you a tad more educated when it comes to tire safety, accesible on the internet anytime of the day.

Here are some videos which you can check out while you're at it!

You may visit their website http://www.bridgestonetires.com.ph or follow their social media channels @BridgestonePH on IG and Twitter. Take that leap and be better on the road and show those Bridgestone tires out there!

TOTAL Philippines Corporation and TotalGaz Supports Chef's On Parade 2013!

Thursday, March 07, 2013

One of the most awaited event in the industry and probably the most attended one too is Chef's on Parade 2013. The event also houses several competitions to pick the best of the best of what the Philippine restaurant and hotel industry has to offer. I've been lucky enough to have been able to attend this quite a lot because my brother's an Executive chef. He also competed in these meets but since he's in Ireland now, he's getting good representation from someone good looking. ME haha.

It was nice to see people again like Chef Bruce Lim (my favorite Chef!) and on this bit he also had Chef Emmanuel Stroobant (who's AFC programs I adore! ie Chef in Blank etc) whom he also worked with in Asian Food Channel. Chef Bruce and Monkey was actually doing an all Filipino pasta and sandwich menu via a workshop they were doing during this event. Yes, it was time Monkey talks! All their stoves both in and out of this particular kitchen (re: the whole venue) was powered and supplied by the good people of TotalGaz.

Auction Safety

Saturday, September 24, 2011

Getting your gadgets and things these days actually would mean you have to spend a lot. It takes time to save and when you save enough a new model comes in and literally made your savings useless. There are times I actually even join auction sites in the premise of getting a great deal with a few pennies. I won a couple of times but decided to just claim them on a later date. Some of my friends frequent that site but complained they never got the items they won but I never listened. True enough, that auction site wasn't accessible after a few weeks and closed down. They've got our items and credits and went bankrupt. I should have listened and made my research first. With that experience I thought I would never even believe anymore with penny auctions until I heard of a great company. I've never even heard of dealfun.com complaints and I'm really inching to be a member of reputable sites like these. The choices of products are so many. I love how they even have high ticket items on their auctions. This is just exciting!

We all have on line transactions and we try to learn one day at a time but it doesn't mean we lose trust in it. We just have to be safe in doing it. Make sure we also research first before we get into something like this. It is imperative that we heed to the experiences of other people. It's one way of learning how to get you out of harms way if there are some unscrupulous individuals out there. Make sure you get the best and the one you can trust. After all, its money we are talking about here.

Be Safe!

Friday, November 19, 2010

Sometimes there are things that you never want to happen. This evening while I was lounging around my home I stood up and suddenly slipped into a complete split. I got my skin cut by a nail sticking out the hardwood floor and there was blood everywhere. I was so afraid it was going to be something serious that I needed Michael Pines to sue the contractors but I was relieved when the bleeding stopped. I had to check in the hospital just to make sure I didn't get any infection and they got the whole thing bandaged; sent me home after a couple of minutes. I was so glad it didn't turn out that bad.

My Grandpa fell in a mall escalator and got 3 of his ribs broken but that time it was serious. He had to be brought to the hospital and operated on. He stayed there for weeks and needed a lot of things to recuperate because of his weak constitution. I was glad he was sent home after a month and a half. Clearly something had to be done so he got his lawyers to sue the mall because it was clearly their fault. He got compensated for the suffering brought about by this experience. I hope it doesn't happen to anyone. I'm glad he's trying to live a normal life even with the stitches and scars of the incident. I hope we all try to learn how to live safely. Accidents like these could happen to anyone, anytime. Be safe!

This happened to me so it can happen to you too! I'm not joking! So try your best to be safe guys!

The Good Looking, Safe Ride

Monday, October 11, 2010

When I was in college there was only one guy I always with. He's my best friend Louie. We go way back; and if you ask him about who I am he'll probably tell you a lot than I normally would. He knows what I do behind the camera; and so do I with him. We met through a common friend almost hitting each other but we ended up getting along really well. We finish each others' sentences now and even stay late till the wee hours of the morning. He even taught me how to ride a motorcycle and I enjoyed it I was planning to buy a big one since I adore the ones I saw in MI2, have you watched that movie which Tom Cruise starred in?! Did you see the great bikes and motorcycle helmets shown there? How I wish I could have one of those!

My friend had to work because he just started a family. On his way to work a white plate motor bike cut him off the road and got him flying through the air. Unfortunately he didn't wear any protective gear and it almost got him bed ridden less you know what. He could have been better dressed in real deal motorcycle clothing and got tougher gear; and that was a big lesson he learned a little too late. I stayed with him in the hospital for a few months until he was able to attend physical therapy sessions. It was hard on him, his family and me. Today he spends doubly hard getting a job and keeping it. All that because he wasn't suited up for biking!

It pays to be prepared and safe. Life is indeed very fragile. I never thought it would happen to someone very close to me let alone my best friend. We need all the things that can protect us from harm's way. If it's going to cost me more than black leather pants then I'm all for it. It's that plus the fact that I look good in leather jackets too. I heard the on line store called leather up has jackets, helmets and boots on their catalog. We might as well take a look at the armored jackets, SHOEI helmets (which I personally prefer) and great flame designed boots that they have because we can get it at half the price! Isn't that sweet! We get to protect ourselves and get the best deal too. I better tell some of my friends about it. We need to be better equipped these days so we won't be sorry when accidents happen.

Do you have your own motorcycle story to tell?! Let me know!

You Can Never Be Too Safe!

Saturday, March 06, 2010

Things have been pretty rampant after the economic crisis that has stricken the country. Crime rate is at an all time high and I did not think I get to live in one community that has this problem too. I can imagine since the shopping district already had put up security they probably all the hooligans from that area transferring to the more residential part of the town such as ours. I never thought it would be a problem but I just heard someone got raped and killed here two weeks ago. I was shocked because we are a pretty quiet neighborhood and hearing stories like that made everyone's jaw drop. I think in this day and age, not everywhere is safe. But we all should take precautionary measures. Local officials should work hand in hand with people from the national government and fund registries of people who have committed these crimes. I know we all have to give second chances but not in the expense of ordinary citizens. When the suspect was actually caught yesterday evening, investigators said that he had been in and out of the prison. What's worse is it's also their relative. I just thank the heavens for sparing everyone else since this has been solved. I hope the government puts up listings like the one I saw for some texas sex offender when I was in the US. At least before you do live in a neighborhood you already know what to do when it does happen. You can never be too safe!

Ride and Stay Alive

Wednesday, May 06, 2009

I just left the chat box a few seconds ago. I was talking to my best friend from a nearby province in the North because we have not seen each other in a while. Yes guys and gals, he was the same guy who had a motorcycle accident more than a year ago. I think he's okay now considering he lost his eyesight on the left and had major constructive surgery done on his face. He's got a daughter and family to take care of and even if it did cost a lot he needed to survive for them. I was at his side the whole yard and tried my best to at least ease some of his burden. With the boom and popularity of this mode of transport in the Philippines, we learned the hard way about the importance of road safety.

I love motorcycles do not get me wrong. I dream of having these particular bikes in my garage the next few years.

I know it is a long shot, but hey! You and I know anything is possible once you set your mind to it. In that same extent, I know I would be more careful about riding super bikes like these. In storms and gloomy weather, we should always check everything in our vehicle. The same goes with this DUCATI bike that Tom Cruise used in MI3. Riding in the night would also require us to get the best Motorcycle Light Bulbs. No matter how safe you think you are in the road we are powerless against other vehicles that do not obey traffic rules and regulations. I mean how in the world you could see in a foggy night for example if you do not have Harley Light Bulbs that can pierce through anything in the dark. Not only would you get lost, but you can easily get into trouble with the things in front of you. You could fall off a cliff God forbid if you do not take care of your bikes. Kawasaki Bulbs are also excellent in this particular dilemma. Since they are intended more for the Asian riders, they know how it is in this side of the world. Getting the best things for our motorcycles would not just make our rides pretty, it would help us stay alive the least.

I hope you learn something from this experience. Wear a helmet while on the road, it would not make you look silly but make other people think there is something inside your head right?! Take care!

Your Need Car Insurance

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Are you sure you got your family covered? I fear most of the time when I try driving our van because the streets of Manila are just not that safe anymore. Just this Monday, Philip Salvador a well known local actor almost got hit by a bus while driving through EDSA. He was already in the midst of passing through but then this large headed driver reeled his bus to the right hitting the side of his SUV and almost hitting his wife that morning. He went down and confronted the driver but he was not even apologetic of what he had done. People like these in the first place should not be given any licenses. They are just plainly uneducated and we normal people could not control what goes on in the Land Transportation Office.

Accidents like that are seen everyday and some of them are even worst. Good thing we had our van insured so if ever something happens to us and our vehicle, we are assured we are going to be taken cared of. The streets are not that safe anymore and we know that we are good drivers; but we have no control over their driving. Everybody needs car insurance. That's really going to be a big problem in this country and I would not like to be on the receiving end of those accidents. I have a lot of dreams and I don't want my life expectancy to shorten because of someone else. Go figure!
