A Dose of Love and Laughter in New Web Series "Ming ♥ Tomas"

Thursday, May 19, 2022

People are still looking for that one emotional fix, to get a dose of love and laughter into their homes especially when times are hard. Romcoms have certainly been a hit in the movies, it makes you smile automatically when you think of that one special romantic moment in your life... and this is where Mang Tomas is banking on. They call it Ming ♥ Tomas.

They sought one of the most notable artists to create posters in hopes to combine all the feels that Mang Tomas All Around Sarsa brings, and Justin Besana delivered. They also took actors that give authenticity, and put to life characters that men and women would relate to no matter what age group they belong to.

Ming ♥ Tomas is a story of two people, one's sweet and lovely, the other is macho and hardworking. Though they have different lives, the stars have aligned and brought them hope, a connection that complemented the meal they had in the course of taking their relationship, love into another level they never thought would come true. Picking the right person wasn't really easy, at the end of the day, it wasn't just about putting your best foot forward... and showing a deeper reason to every quirky moment you've experienced and dream of forever.

You can watch the episodes on the Mang Tomas Facebook page, and the official NutriAsia YouTube channel. You can now enjoy episodes "AngMANGhuhula" and "Ang GANAduo" and feel all the kilig it brings. This series is created by award winning directors Chris Cahilig and Joel Ferrer, shot entirely on mobile phones with help from mobile videographer Tristan Cua. You can also win #MachoGanado gift packs if you answer the simple question at the end of the episodes. Go enjoy it at home just like I did.

You may follow their social channels to know more about it.

A Song Of Praise Music Festival Year 3

Monday, September 22, 2014

A Song Or Praise Music Festival marks it's third year now in the Philippines. Standing strong with 12 finalists that made 12 inspiring songs to give thanks and glory to God, they are eager to showcase their songwriting prowess on UNTV 37 and streamed live internationally at UNTVWEB.COM and heard on UNTV Radio La Verdad 1350KHz on the dial. It's a great opportunity for undiscovered but talented composers  who aspire to be victorious in the music industry. ASOP has already produced three albums in the past and has proven well in sales as they have featured equally great artists from the local music scene.
This has been running for quite some time now and they've given away thousands of cash prizes weekly, monthly and now the finals. They also conducted a few workshops and songwriting tips for well regarded people in the industry so they really make them better at this craft.

Bobby Delos Santos

The Grand Finals will happen this September 23, 2014 7PM at the SMART Araneta Coliseum and no more than music greats will be on stage. Bobby Delos Santos of ASOP says "We're excited to see you in the finals as we aim to make more music for praise since we don't usually hear them anymore on the airwaves. Hopefully with this contest, we would get more material and have it heard with a larger audience too."

The finalists include "Hangga't May Tinig Ako"(As Long As I Can Sing) which is composed by Jinnie Adilan and interpreted by Daryl Ong, "Awit ng Puso Ko" (Song of my Heart) composed by Empol Balbin and interpreted by Bo Cerrudo, "Pagpupuring Walang Hanggan" (Unending Praise) composed by Cesar Montano interpreted by Mcoy Fundales, "Sa Bawat Araw" (In Every Day) composed by Marlon Nabia interpreted by Shanne Velasco, "Ikaw ang Tangi Kong Minamahal" (You Are My Only Love) composed by Ralph Lauren Refil and interpreted by Gail Blanco, "Biyaya" (Blessings) composed by Meldin Nabia and interpreted by Bayang Barrios, "Tanging Gabay" (Only Guide) composed by Amiel Mendoza and interpreted by Rachel Alejandro, "Kislap" (Shine) composed by Oliver Narag interpreted by Jessa Mae Gabon, "God Will Win Our Fight" composed by Ricardo Sanchez interpreted by Jek Manuel and Jason Fernandez, "May Awa ang Dios" (God is Merciful) composed by Louise Lyle Robles and interpreted by Beverly Caimen, "You Are Lord Of All" composed by LILET and interpreted by Ava Olivia Santos, and "Panginoon Kay Buti Mo" (God You Are So Good) composed by Jesse Bayodoc and interpreted by Walton Zerrudo. If thes lineup of composers and singers don't impress you on stage, we don't know what will.

80's Iconic Singer Superstar Lilet

My favorite so far? Of course it's childhood crush LILET. I told Lilet that I used to go to her class room when I was 10... we went to the same school in Elementary, I always wanted to see her. I asked if how she feels joining this contest and she said "I'm both nervous and excited but more than the competition, the most important thing is the reason why we are doing this. We are doing this for the Lord!". The contest actually accepted entries from different religious groups and not just ones from UNTV's lineage. They welcome everyone says Mon Del Rosario, one of ASOP's judges. Mon Del Rosario also added that the other judges will remain a secret but their style will all be specific on the way the song is interpreted and written. They are going to be very detailed on how you'll see it. It's okay to be non conforming so people would be able to appreciate it, much like commercial songs. He's got favorites now and he can't wait to see them do it in Araneta this Tuesday.

We also asked Ricardo Sanchez about his song because he's the only one who had two interpreters and he said that he made this specifically for two people and with the Euro type of vibe it's the perfect way to hear it. The event is free but I think tickets have already been given to audiences. Aside from that, the album is also free, please do visit their social network channels so you can get a copy of it. You can also download it off their website, all free as well. If you want to hear and feel praise music like in our country, please don't forget to watch the show in UNTV live. We're looking good in this part of the world, we do sound definitely good as well.

Future TV Experience Made Better: Pinoy Real TV; Atin Ito!

Sunday, April 14, 2013

A few years ago I've heard a lot about public TV being a defunct medium. Although that would still be something that remains to be seen, the trend seems to be that way. But really, there could be a few things that would limit this to happen like hardware, platform, Internet connection rates... the obvious reasons. They were pretty optimistic though when I got the chance to attend their press conference a few days ago.

What is Pinoy Real TV? It's an Over The Top (OTT) TV channel that lets you watch shows anytime, anywhere on a variety of mediums that include PC's, laptops, tablets and other mobile devices that is set to conquer the nation by storm in the next few years. In the era where digital is dictating how Filipino viewers are expected to behave in having entertainment at the edge of their fingertips, Pinoy Real TV brings in new, fast and variety in real time on the Internet. Does this mean it's going to change the whole landscape of our watching habits? Who knows!

Video Game Nostalgia!

Saturday, November 24, 2012

When I was in high school I often hang out in arcade shops where most great computer games were only played in huge machines. The best were the fighting games where I started a little bit rough but with lots of practice and coins invested, I got a little better. Then after that, I learned to fight other friends. Then some other great competitors from other places tried to fight with me too. I got even better as days, weeks, months and years passed. I eventually joined local competitions and got more people crossed off the contestant's list because I was the better player. Pretty soon, I had the confidence and energy to join bigger ones and won too. In that mall, I was legendary; and got more people from other places try me out too. They failed miserably. That game of swords and Samurais later on just got outdated, but I don't think I'll lose in that game with anyone I know. I miss those times but still got a thing for those kinds of games. I enjoy watching reruns of it on videos these days.

Today the games are even tougher, more complicated that what it used to. Although it was extra tough to press 6 - 8 buttons on a single player game to execute one move, the ones I watched in video game reviews seem to be very difficult even in 4 positioned buttons. Consoles these days can even do bigger things. Graphics are astounding, game play is phenomenal! Even now, some can accommodate 8 players at a time. Some things that were impossible before are all happening now to the enjoyment of the whole game world!

I saw some web episodes of The Gauntlet over at Blip and they made the whole video gaming experience much like reality TV! It was awesome how they got these guys together. Getting them off one by one or on a group was tough though. But overall, it was pretty cool! You should watch some too! That's where I'm going to these next few weeks and I'll watch all of the episodes for sure!

Social Network Makes Us Anti Social?!

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

It's one of those days. I guess its about time that I talk about social networks and how it made the world a smaller place. Just like you I once insisted not to join Facebook because I was using Friendster in the beginning(like many Asians as a matter of fact). But look at us now, we didn't even know Friendster still existed right?

Now, we all can't live without it. If you ain't playing farmville or restaurant city or Mafia Wars you'll be considered the loser when everyone else is talking about it. Relationships are now rekindled when you see a long lost friend or relative. Some would even be mad at you at times just because you choose to ignore friend requests and applications that spell ingredients to some dish ha-ha! I guess gone are the days of posting testimonials as we welcome small comments and like statuses huh?!

We even demand to have Internet on our phones 24/7. We subscribe to whole day web services and post statuses by the minute or photos directly. We share links, watch videos, read blogs, comment on s2pid photos for the amusement of another. We receive alerts on email so we don't get left behind. We all know its ohhhh so lame but we still all do it. We connect, find girls, connect again, find prospects, connect again and find people to marry then delete our accounts heheh. Well... almost...

It's so nice to see how we've all gone to social networking but have gone ANTI SOCIAL. We seldom talk anymore, we don't call that much, we get text messages from girlfriends, we get girls the same way, we chat, send PM's, tweet or plurk or whatever social platform just to get the message across. We invented some other form of languag and pretty soon we'll see each other on video with the same site. I wonder why we're doing social networks yet we're being anti social now. We probably will spend more time at home doing nothing than going to the malls and get bigger by the day. Oh I wonder... don't you think this is going to be bad pretty soon? I hope not. I'm a little puzzled... do you feel the same way?! =)

WEB HOSTING

The World Wide Web has its flood gates open to thousands and thousands of web hosting companies. These are the guys you go to in order for your name to exist in the Internet. I recommend service providers to my cyberspace friends and family since I am the local version of geek squad. Routers, Wired and Wireless Devices, Internet Service Providers, Domain Name Servers are all but second language to me so where else should they turn to? One good thing lead to another in my site so I'm spreading the news and let them have the convenience I got from purchasing my own domain.

Today's online services can get you limitless ways to customize your website and add in widgets that would grab the attention of your chosen audience. Since I have a more personal site, my experience and day to day struggles are all out in the public. My musings of self expression has never stopped since day one. This is much of an outlet where other people can tell their own version of the story. It makes you understand how powerful the Internet is. If you plan to get acquainted with what's happening with the rest of the world, you need to be online.

When I was looking for a web host a year ago, I was asking local Internet Service Providers about it. They dealt with me with standard bills that reached a couple of thousand pesos just for maintenance. They did not even have single software to use so I could easily customize my site. I knew right from that start what I want so I went ahead and applied for go daddy. There are similar packages available at http://www.hosting-review.com/ and the site recommends other excellent web hosting providers that can match your need.

With their services at around a couple of hundred pesos (a few dollars), you can have your own domain and have them host it too. No other Domain Name Service configurations needed to start your own site. This was the best package I could get at that time when I started this all and I never looked back. My site and its success relied on the web host for its logistics. I plan to put up another one because there's still is a lot of work to do. I need to improve it, but I’m quite sure they won't be going down anytime soon. That's what I learned from their site, you can't tell anything just by looking at their prices. You need something more that that so they let you understand unbiased, valuable content in their site and reviews. If you want plain English, with no sugarcoating of anything under the sun, you should take a look at Web Hosting Reviews. You won’t regret it young web master!
