90 Thousand Jobs in BPO

call

It never seems to be affecting the Philippines at all because there are at least 90,000 jobs that are up for grabs in Business Process Outsourcing. This is also the industry that I’m in and I’m proud of it!

Upto 90 thousand jobs are possibly going to be created in the call center industry just this year. This has been pronounced by Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) Chairman Rey Anthony Roxas Chua in the cabinet meeting that was held in Clark Field Pampanga.

Chua said that the Philippines is second to India in the market share for voice and non-voice services since 2007, but the Philippines has the distinction to be the Best IT destination in the world.

The continuing work offered and being delivered in the call center industry in the face of the global financial crisis is proof of this and it is North America that still gets the services of our market in the Manila and Cebu Area which are called cyber corridors. Laguna, Cavite, Iloilo, Davao, Bacolod, Pampanga including Clark, Bulacan, Cagayan de Oro and Lipa, Batangas are now emerging cities too for this industry.

Searching for Valuable Information

I've been looking for information on the World Wide Web this morning for my Dad. He was asking me about the rules FIVB released lately about beach volleyball. He's into sports and he is probably going to be one of the referees this coming UAAP season for the beach volleyball event in my university. I looked up premier search engines and only got a few results that dated last year. That was just not enough in my books because I need something more recent.

I'm not bragging about anything but since the famous ones failed me, I used AAfter Web Search Engine instead and I was in for a surprise. Aside from the original document that I needed, there were even a couple things I found out from other web sites it recommended. I saw some local establishments where they could get materials for the court they plan to use so if my Dad enlists my services then I probably know how to set that up. Another good deal for me and my Engineering firm if that materializes. That would be just nice right?!

An Afternoon Delight

Before I slept yesterday, I watched a couple of episodes of the reality show "The real housewives of NYC". They were in their posh surroundings and people as usual. This may not be only for media mileage because there are some conflicts here and there with the main characters. How they resolve their problems in life and their families would be another program I'm sure.

On a lighter note, I watched the premier Dancing with the Stars episode yesterday and it was great. I am rooting for Denise Richards like any of you guys out there that watched her reality show too. Yeah, I know.. even after all that talk and negotiations with Charlie Sheen, the tattoo she got removed from her foot... she's till one beautiful woman any man would want. Her kids are cute too... I hope none of those depressing episodes affect you though. That would just make you frown and cause wrinkles soon.

I hope she wins this season. My bet last season did win too. I kinda got a niche with predicting winners, I wonder where I got that.

I Deserve More!

I've been handling my finances very well these days and my trusty Gold VISA Card was sufficient for what I need regardless of the pricey annual fee it entails. I get lots of perks considering its quite plain these days to have one in this side of the world. With the good credit standing and spending habit that I acquired (by being a great shopaholic), I've accumulated just this past year a larger than life value which I won't mention here for security reasons. I guess I dropped in with large purchases this Christmas season that made me qualify for bigger opportunities. Somebody from their company called me because they plan to actually give me a greater credit limit and waive the annual fee so they can let me in on the platinum one. This just goes to show they rather want to see me spend higher this year than plainly see me spend a couple of thousand pesos annually for the old one. I almost said yes and succumbed to their wishes for me to pay higher rates by next year, but I opted to stay within my means instead. I had no regrets doing that since I'm not planning to get big purchases like I had in the past. I've got lots of bills to pay too so when this would make me tempted to spend for utilities at home I probably would get in trouble. I just hope not!

Although, its these days that I sometimes think about the bigger perks I could have had when I get that higher plan. I remember the legend and existence of a black American Express Card where you could literally get into the most posh clubs anywhere if you flash it. The exclusivity dwindled after a few years though because as much as they wanted to keep it that limited, everybody else was having it already. Today, the market leader just introduced the visa black card. This would probably bury the hatchet and put the nail on the coffin to the genre the black American Express card tried so hard to establish. They even have better perks than the latter in my opinion so most probably; I'll have the Visa Card since that is more accepted in this part of the world. I could probably afford the purchasing power of this card by then and they would waive the annual fee permanently since I'm on a class of my own. It seems I have a lot of things to do. These are the things that inspire me to work harder. I mean hey! The perks should be better for people like me right?!

Nickelodeon Nominates Chris Brown Still

Well known Kids network Nickelodeon still stands by its decision to push through with the nomination of Chris Brown despite the overwhelming calls and petitions not to do so in the annual Kids Choice Awards. Police say Rihanna was allegedly punched, bitten and choked by Brown last month.

Almost 3,000 kids around the country had signature campaigns to stop this from happening for obvious reasons but the network sticks to this nomination since it does not mean he'll win the category that also he's competing with Rihanna with his single Kiss Kiss.

I don't know what else would be kicking them in the long withstanding trial he's going through but if it was my decision, I'd probably pull him out since clamor for it has been given by kids who in all means should be the one deciding in this race. Remember, its a Kids Choice Award after all.

I Forgot the Shirt!

Monday, March 09, 2009

I forgot one huge thing when I attended the ERASER HEADS Concert, I didn't buy a souvenir shirt! My most revered band immortalized in black or white colored cotton fabric was the last thing I could have done that night to end it all, but we all forgot to do that! OMG! Not only that, I am still in line to buy those shirts from FRANCIS MAGALONA the master rapper who paved the way for rap artists and the whole rap music industry here in the Philippines! Are we really that old to forget these things? I hope not.

We probably should turn to web site stores now and purchase those shirts right away and see if their T-shirts printing capabilities are at par with the world standards. It just won't do justice if it is low quality. We need a good one!

ERASERHEADS "The Final Set" CONCERT March 7, 2009

Sunday, March 08, 2009

It was NOSTALGIA... that is one word I could describe what happened that day. It was perfect for me, a crazed Eraserheads fan that already put them on a pedestal because I adored them so much. They were god like for me...(pardon sounding blasphemous) but OMG it was all I ever asked for in one sitting.

We started the day meeting at Starbucks MOA...it was a hot Saturday afternoon and as people would always see...its lotsa traffic. I met Arpee and Bheng (mah officemates) then Gian and Leo came too. I was dragging my foot along because I got my ankle sprained a few days ago. I was even limping yesterday for entertainment purposes (magaling ako umarte) wahahhaha. But MY GAD HIGAD it was painful and that was not even half of it. I ordered Mango Passionfruit as always then cooled off a little, then we headed to the MOA Concert Grounds. We walked there so it was a daunting task for my foot hehe... At 4PM, throngs of fans already lined up and guards, bouncers and epals were there to greet them. Security was tight since they did not allow water bottles, food, professional cameras, unattended kids, hookers, GRO's (weh sayang!). I was told there was food inside the venue, little did I know I was in for a surprise. I didn't know how inconvenient it was to eat there. Since we were there for hours, we needed to do that. I bought double cheeseburger from McDonalds but they returned my money because they didn't have it yet. I opted for 2 cheeseburgers instead. I was looking for something to drink and there was a Coca Cola booth beside that, when I paid up they immediately put my Orange Juice in a plastic cup, it didn't even have a cover! Now imagine how am I going to keep that drink alive until the concert when people could literally nudge my arms and spill that all over others? What's more appalling is the thought of them not giving away the bottles... have you seen anyone die of a plastic bottle? unless they know how to swallow and put rocks on em there probably would be...Go figure!

Aside from that, we say along the rails and boundary of the Silver A area together with Gian's friends from philmusic.com and talked about what to expect in the concert. As funny as it sounds, we needed to do that for a couple of hours since we were there early to get the best seats. I was annoyed at a few kids beside me who went there with their Mom I think. I mean, if you can't handle your 3 kids why the hell should she bring em there right? They were the first ones I saw that smelled like ARAW even if it was already 6PM... I despise the place for being filthy. Why in the world don't we have a place that could seat a lot of people... we need one for big concerts like that. Good thing we were by the bay... at least there was a breeze coming in every few minutes, otherwise we all would have suffocated from human scent. You know what I mean? c^^,)

So the day became night and it became darker by the minute. We watched the lights go up, while some literally blinded us on purpose. At about 6 or 7 PM a girl suddenly wanted to make her way to the front and make SINGIT... she didn't even asked permission from the people who already were there. I was making nasty jokes about her already but she stood ground as if she never heard anything. She even looked at me evily as if she thinks I'd never tell her about it. Hahah.. I dared her to look at me again that way but she didn't.... I could have been the next Chris Brown because aside from my hurting ankle..she was freakin annoying me too. Good thing she fell short of what she planned to do and went away from our position... people even clapped and laughed about it hahaha. Weird...but I still hate that girl heheh... How I wished I could smash somebody's face on the rails! After those annoying incidents, at about 7PM a fireworks display erupted at our back...people thought it was for the event but I know MOA does that every Saturday before the mall closes. Aside from that, people were already waiting for the big event!

8PM struck and there was no countdown no nothing that happened, they were late obviously.... so after a few more minutes of waiting, 4 VJ's from MTV arrived. People were waiting too long to listen to them.... almost everybody boooed them....hahaha there were hecklers everywhere... I on the other hand was cracking jokes because I was bored and tired waiting of course! I was also anticipating some kind of countdown before they start... but that did not happen at 8PM... we waited a while until the video started. OMG this is it...the event that I was waiting for... wait... it was not counting down minutes or seconds.... it was the alphabet backwards!

Everybody chanted Z Y X W V U T S R Q P O N M L K J I H G F then an inverted E *lightbolts sound* then the music started....and the first song? It was "MAGASIN"... I thought they were gonna sing OVERDRIVE but that came in on the second set I guess... Here is the rest of the set list:

1st Set:
Magasin
Walang Nagbago
Maling Akala
Maskara
Poorman's Grave
Waiting for the Bus
Huwag Mo nang Itanong
(Marcus on vocals which literally made everybody crack up on his own funny version.... I want that album published now! I was laughing so hard with Marcus... he ought to have a novelty song album of some sort. That would be a great idea to produce!)
Slo Mo
Alkohol
Insomya
Torpedo

It was nice! I felt everything fell into place and I was in heaven! All the tiredness and my hurting feet was gone (of course not! hehe) I was just starstruck by them. The band that I waited for a long time was just a few steps from where I am. Oh! What a night! The 2nd Set came in and lo and behold they came in with a whole SALA SET... they were all there while Ely introduced us to their new BAHAY... heheh... then they played everything in acoustic....MTV unplugged style!

2nd set:

Julie Tearjerky (acoustic/unplugged )
Tikman ang Langit (acoustic/unplugged )
Wishing Wells (acoustic/unplugged )
Fine Time (acoustic/unplugged )
Pare Ko (acoustic/unplugged )
Kailan (acoustic/unplugged )
Back2Me
Trip to Jerusalem
Spoliarium
Overdrive

Not a single person left the concert grounds after Ely thanked the crowed. We were all so bitin we were waiting for what comes next after that spectacular idea of having everything performed in an unplugged version. I'm sure with Marcus and Raimund singing a few songs on their own, Ely has indeed rested to rap this particular concert up! I was not disappointed!

The encore was about Filipino king of Rap Francis M. so Ely even asked everyone to raise their hands... and clap... and jump for this great man who opened an era of Rap music for a country who hungered for it.

Encore

Superproxy (tribute to FrancisM)
Minsan
Alapaap
Kaleidoscope World (tribute to FrancisM) (reprise)
Ang Huling El Bimbo

Sparks flew at our back and a lot more fireworks were lit at the stage. There was enormous amount of confetti on front for everyone to see that this setup was not just for local consumption. By golly the whole place was filled with confetti that parts of the stage was covered literally we can't even see em anymore. It was a very nice cheesy way of ending everything. After everything ended... Ely went to the stage's center and poured a healthy amount of lighter fluid on the PIANO from the STICKERHAPPY album. I was so sad to see that musical instrument burning at the stake and Ely even kicking it literally breaking each piece as it collapses to the ground. The end of a beautiful foursome years just flashed right in front of me. I was struck by the fact that everything will end here.... yes I was so sad to have to end it that way... but like any story... theirs had to end too.

Ely Raimund Marcus and Buddy then succumbed to everyone's request for a group hug.... and a group BOW too... It ended with Ely stating "Ladies and gentlemen, we are THE ERASERHEADS!". Then he threw his shoes when they went out... and almost his socks too.... I would have scrambled for that too hahaah!

Everyody went on their way out.... of course it took a few minutes before they could do that.... until somebody spoke on the mic stating "Hoy.... ano? Nabititin ba kayo?" and I said WHOA! HINDI PA TAPOS! Everybody was surprised and went back to the venue... some of them were literally outside already... they had to go back because as Ely said it.... THIS IS 3 FOR THE ROAD!

Then they played for the last time:

Encore 2:

Ligaya
Sembreak
Toyang

It ended again with Ely stating "Ladies and gentlemen, we are THE ERASERHEADS!". That was just a good ending... but no matter how many times this band try to end it... I as a true fan would never end my dream... that someday, somehow, someway.... I'll still get the chance to watch THE ERASERHEADS once more.

Francis "Kiko" Magalona (October 4, 1964 - March 6, 2009)

Francis "Kiko" Magalona (October 4, 1964 - March 6, 2009)

I
am one of the few millions of people who idolize the King of Philippine Rap Francis Magalona. The only one who paved the way for the rap industry to exist in the country. A lot of people have been touched by this good man, he left behind yesterday afternoon 8 kids and his wife in the long withstanding battle against leukemia. He was a great man for Filipinos and international artists he worked with. I'm sure a lot of us will miss him.

He presented rap from this republic differently. I'll never look at the 3 stars and the sun the same way again because he changed part of the music industry. He instilled patriotism in his lyrics and never looked so ingenious in every aspect. I have lost an idol. It's so sad that I'm watching one of the greatest bands later (The Eraserheads) that worked with him and even idolized his work too. I don't want to ask why good people always part too early. Master Rapper Francis Magalona, I have nothing to say anymore... but THANK YOU.

Other articles of him here and here. Check out his latest entries in multiply too here.

NO DOUBT Giving Away More Than Tickets!

Thursday, March 05, 2009

One of my favorite bands No Doubt has just announced they are giving away more than just a ticket on their up coming tour. They are giving away a whole catalog! Which means all their albums then and now together with the latest single "Stand and Deliver". I'm sure to enjoy these perks!

I think I did miss one of their albums because of obvious reasons and this particular package is just the best deal. It only applies to those who got the $85 to $105 ticket holders and not the lower ones. They are going to give these packages 30 days after the tour ends. The start will be on May 2 in Atlantic City and will run until August of this year. Coincidentally that will be the anniversary of my site also! ^_^

I love No Doubt! Weeee!

Britney Spears is BACK!

Britney

After 5 years of being a hermit in her own little shell, with the hundreds of circus days behind her... Britney Spears is back with a vengeance!

A new tour has been kicked off in her own little hometown of Louisiana with a sold out crowd singing her greatest hits from way back in 2004 and her new album Circus that topped the US, UK, Asian charts and went platinum in a span of a few weeks. This is an unprecedented comeback for the pop princess. She is also back in shape with her tight lookin abs and slender body while she swayed to her hits the same day. I never really liked her that much but most of my friends do, and I kinda pitied her when all the fiascoes and things that happened to her marriage with KFED and the custody battle for her son. It just goes to show how appropriate her latest album title is... as CIRCUS... and she is now armed with a whip to tame everything and get her life back on track. I just hope she doesn't get suspended again for driving anytime soon. The paparazzi would surely be on their toes when this happens.I applaud you though for coming back! ^_^
