Top Holiday Destinations: Tagaytay Highlands

Christmas in the Philippines start at "BER" months, which means months that end with BER (September to December). It is dubbed as the longest Christmas celebration in the world and we do often take this time to be with friends, family, and loved ones. Destinations such as Tagaytay Highlands are often on top of the list because of the cool climate, serene and beautiful landscape where guests, residents would enjoy the countryside without going too far from the metropolis via a short ride away down south.

It has changed a lot over the years as new exclusive residential homes and units have been put up as vantage points to Taal Volcano and lake area, and Laguna-Mount Makiling side, you'll end up crazy trying to look at the nice views from one side and the other. They also have recently put up Christmas decors, lights, ornaments as the holidays come closer, making this a very inviting place to be in especially this December. Tagaytay Highlands will also be holding a Christmas Party for the young ones come December 17. It will be held at the Sports Center Hall so make sure you get them all dressed for the occasion.

Aside from that, there will be a Christmas Bazaar on the Highlands Golf Parking area from December 27 to 31 to make sure those aguinaldos and shopping money be spent without leaving the sweet enclave. The Sports Center Hall will also get converted for the New Years Eve countdown on the 31st, so schedule appropriately during the holidays.

For those who prefer a more holy retreat, Chapel events will happen from November 27th til the end of the year, so make sure you check schedules appropriately on site or their social channels. You can also take the trip there for the annual "Simbang Gabi" which starts from December 15th to the 23rd. The holiday mass will also be celebrated on Christmas eve and the day itself, plus on New Year's day. It's certainly a dreamy place to be in during Christmas time so if you're in the mood for a move, consider Tagaytay Highlands to be on your list if you would like a change of pace and destination during the holidays. DAYAW Starts Their 11th Season: "Kakaibang Sigla"

Just got off the DAYAW event hosted by ANC and NCCA. This is their 11th season and talks about culture and people. Since we're just finished watching the Olympics, the documentaries will delve on movement and indigenous sports, energy, competitiveness, dance, music. Present during the occasion was NCCA Vice Head on Cultural Community Pablito Gonzales, Nadia Trinidad and Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda who's been championing the cause on environment and culture for years now.


Pablito Gonzales says "Fellow cultural workers, good afternoon. We believe Filipinos are all indigenous in some respect. Though we come from different backgrounds, our diversity are our unifying forces. We all come from different sectors, but we are united in culture and heritage which is Dayaw. With the excellent production of ANC, we look forward to this brand new season of the show. NCCA supports discussion, programs like these are information vessels for local and international audiences. As an IP advocate for almost two decades now, I'm impressed because even in the time of pandemic, our IP's are struggling selling products. Many have stopped, but they need a way to continue."

Nick Lizaso of NCCA says "We showcased sustainable practices of our indeginous people. We will learn enchanting movement and dances, to inspire our viewers for culture and heritage preservation. Let's invite more Filipinos to watch more seasons of Dayaw."

Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda says "This is "Kakaibang Sigla", a vital energy. Thank you to our partners in NCCA and ANC, despite all odds, we were able to record a lot up to 18 months inside the pandemic. You are all staunch partners in documenting of our schools of living tradition, of going to places that are not usually covered by media outlets. You are competent, professional, dedicated and passionate. I've been in television for 30 years, without our small team, we could have not done it alone. When Dayaw started, it was a passion project. Our manlilikha ng bayan awardees are national living treasures, some of them have passed, but we were able to document their lives and archived it on ANC. Rituals, traditions, knowledge, don't belong in schools in far flung areas and we were able to document that including dying crafts and indigenous skills. We are working on making them sustainable, connecting with DOLE, DTI, NCCA and building weaving centers, dyeing centers, Dayaw is and was a passion project. It has not remained one, it's a legacy project now. I wanted to ensure that all of these are correctly archived in ANC and NCCA. To each and every member of my team in ANC, I'm glad they have remained engaged and what passion have in legislation, and not stop documenting, economic livelihood for indigenous people. Shooting season 11 wasn't easy but we're glad we were able to do it before the pandemic started. We were shooting action sequences, a little different from the usual but we were able to do it. I have so many episodes to go back to, like Wang-od our oldest Mambabatok, and make sure our Kalinga community specifically Budbud tribe be treated fairly. Hopefully, for them not to be poor. We are showcasing them as traditional artists. Ordinary people, people who use social media, you may share information we do there for education. We will be uploading our Dayaw episodes and seasons on YouTube and perhaps do captions, Europeans, Americans, Southeast Asian nations. Thank you for being with us. I will file in October as a Senator, I will continue to help my province Panay and I will share my knowledge, God willing, next year."

TV5 Quiz Show "Barangay Utakan" Now on it's Second Season

It was fun and super funny to have witnessed the first season of "Barangay Utakan", a game show designed to outwit, outsmart and outplay communities via a quiz show featuring current events and news seen on the happiest network in the country TV5. It is designed to promote community spirit, and camaraderie while they pit townships from different cities and have them battle it out on either smartness or ingenuity. 

It has been copied by other TV stations but they say, nothing really beats the original. This is also hosted by internet action superstar Ramon Bautista, the one and only machismo inlaw Jun "bayaw" Sabayton and smart guy cum Palanca Awardee Lourd De Veyra. They'll get you in on the most pressing issues this country has been going through and will also educate the general public about it. They'll also have bombshell co-hosts Bea Benedicto and Nikki Veron to give an even better impression that even the female form can do it. 

The man behind this show is RA Rivera and he says "This is designed to make communities about their innate quality of nationalism and teamwork. It is something unique and informative, and we want sports or activities to be the driving force in transforming communities."

McJim Classic Leather Launches Dreams Get Real: The Search for the Next OPM Star Season2

After the very successful first season of McJim Classic Leather's Dreams Get Real: The Search for the next OPM Star, here they go again and launched it's second season to discover new Filipino talents and promising acts all for the love of OPM. They've already made headlines with last years champs Fifth Dynamics, JBK and Neo Domingo and this time, they're going to amp up the ante with fresh voices, bigger, better and brighter stars in Dreams Get Real history.

Chris Cahilig the Dreams Get Real Project Head says "The level of competition is just mind blowing because during the eliminations, we were just pain stricken in choosing the top 10. It was around a hundred entries then we had to choose 20 for the mall eliminations. After that, we had the top 8 then add 2 more wildcard entries so we could complete the final 10. At this point, I've noticed that they are all talented but we're looking for that perfect one who has star quality. In this group, with proper guidance, we're going to have a star! We've been waiting to introduce to you the 10 finalists of this competition. The company has sternly supported OPM all these years and we've even had OPM artists as endorsers so it is inherent for the brand. These contestants are comprised of students, amateur and professional singers, people from all walks of life and some of them noted that this is a lot different from competitions they've joined in the past. The top 10 contestants are Zsarina Concepcion, Eiffel Manansala, Carmela Ravanilla, Micah Llona, CJ Raneses, Tricia May Casauay, Erickson Malabanan, Kym Penoso, Abigail Mendoza and Apple Delleva. Some of them have frequented competitions but some of them are totally new. 

The competition will make thesr guys and gals win a full album, their own music video, Php 100,000 cash prize from McJim Classic Leather, artist marketing support (which they'll find very important!) and a talent management contract. American Idol XIII on Star World!

Last season, I would have loved to see Jessica Sanchez win American Idol. Even though it didn't happen, she still is tops. I was able to see her a couple of times during her stint with Bench and some other Philippine endorsements. She's rightfully famous... and I'd like to see this happen again. Filipinos are GREAT singers and I've seen Filipino Americans shine in this competition.

Today, they're going all out as the new judge Harry Conick Jr. joins the gorgeous Jennifer Lopez and hunky Aussie Keith Urban completes this season's lineup. They will choose together with the American people who's going to be the new American Idol. Auditions are now done in even more cities and states such as Salt Lake City, Utah; Detroit, Michigan; Atlanta, Georgia, Boston, Massachusetts; Austin, Texas; and Omaha, Nebraska. Hundreds and thousands of hopefuls will line up the streets and fill up stadiums, concert halls and try to get this title. Plus, my favorite portion of the show... the crazy ones will still be there and try their luck too. Who knows? They might get to perform and seen by the whole world too! :)

Don't fret if you don't know where to watch the show because American Idol XIII will be shown on January 16 (6PM via Satellite, then 8PM and 11PM) , that's this Thursday on Star World! It's going to be a regular thing like last year so sit back, relax and let's all join the bandwagon to see who's going to win the 13th season of American Idol!

Twinkling Treats From Gonuts Donuts Plus!

I got so excited a few days ago because Christmas officially started in our home. Clad in my jammies and rags I woke up to quite a spectacular package from Gonuts Donuts!

Wooohpie! I was spinning around, jumping up and down and running around the house because I was so happy to receive gifts this early! Oh the joy, I just couldn't contain it! So I did the next best thing, I opened up the box and my eyes... just went teary eyed!

Now tell me, who in the right mind won't be happy seeing these awesome Gonuts Donuts treats on the table? Oh and may I just tell you, it was a dozen of these gorgeous donuts sent my way showing how much they really love me! You just instantly feel that happiness just resides in this side of the world! ^_^

Of course, I had to take a bite at these wonderful doughnuts!

Think about thick frosting with cutouts of sugar based candies that makes you close your eyes and wonder, how in the world did this happen? Then when you are caught unaware, a sudden burst of your favorite filling, the sweet mellow Bavarian, the oozing sweet Caramel and the tangy Lemon Cream.
