SportsP|us, Smart, POC Sign Pact for PH Athletes

This afternoon was certainly a time for celebration between the folks from the Philippine Olympic Committee, SportsP|us and Smart Communications Inc. as they sign a historic Memorandum of Agreement to support national athletes and teams with unparalleled connectivity, more online engagement and visibility in different sports events that they will be in this year and in the future.

 

 

 

The event was graced by James da Costa the head of SportsPlus partnerships, Bambol Tolentino the President of Philippine Olympic Committee, Jude Turcati the First Vice President for PLDT- Smart's Sports. There were also several athletes in the event including Carlos Baylon Jr. Gold Medalist in Wushu in the recent World Games (in China).

POC President Bambol Tolentino says "This is not for me, for POC, but all for our athletes. We put importance in preparations for the SEA Games, Asian Games, and the Olympics. This starts a multi year support for funding the athletes training and preparation for the SEA Games, Asian Games and the Olympics. This will certainly benefit them in their goals to bring honor to the country. The endless pursuit to make sure they do their best in their respective sports and the support of the private sector will surely be a welcome development with various sports organizations that this will benefit. They will also help in the grassroots programs, plus a few local ones which the POC encourages they do in the next few years.

The folks at Smart Communications Inc. just inked a partnership with ESports Event Management and Production giant Dark League Studios in its aim to further grow ESports in the country. This is certainly the time to hone them from grassroots, to pros and eventually have them represent the country in international tourneys. 

This means they'll be working together through the Smart GIGA Arena platform and have folks needed tournament experience in games like Mobile Legends, PubG, CODM, League of Legends Wild Rift and many more. This will grow Smart's capability to host more tournaments especially for the 2 million users it already amassed in previous years.

ANNE CURTIS, JANE DE LEON Headline Powerful Campaign with Smart

This afternoon was a powerful one as Smart took us on us on a ride on what it feels like if you've got The Power of Smart.

Smart Hallyu Hangouts Presents HYUN BIN

As part of Smart's efforts to bring extraordinary experiences for their subscribers, they just concluded their recent Hallyu Hangouts with Hyun Bin after the recent one with Son Ye Jin. This time, the Captain took a breather, chatting with the host and two lucky fans who were picked to talk to him online.

During the event, I discovered a lot of things about him including how popular he was when he wasn't even an actor yet. He had his own personal fans club in high school. Aside from that, he does actually search his name on Hallyu or Google just so he could read articles about himself and see if it is TRUE or not. Because let's face it, some do publish weird stuff and celebrities not often get informed about it. He's like his own Sherlock Holmes!

He's pretty happy about how he's been loved by Filipinos, and he feels it. He would have been also happy to meet us in the country as soon as restrictions have been eased and this pandemic gets resolved. Aside from that, he's very happy about how he's part of Smart. He also did a few lines in Filipino including "Simple, Smart Ako!" which is Smart's tagline.

Fun at SMART Hallyu Hangouts with Son Ye Jin

After the hit Korean television series Crash Landing On You, Son Ye Jin has definitely caught the attention of her Filipino fans. In the series, she falls in love with Hyun Bin's character Lee Jeonghyeok even if they were in other sides of the fence (North and South Korea). While that ended a couple years ago, Filipinos still adore them as the KDrama fever went on despite the pandemic. Smart knows how important connections are so they brought Son Ye Jin through Smart Hallyu Hangouts so some fans would be able to interact and talk to the artists online, ask them a few questions and feel the love all over again. 

It's like a fan meet of sorts, but when asked how she feels about the love she's getting from Filipinos, she says "Honestly, I didn't know how popular I am in the Philippines. People have been sending heartfelt messages, photos, tagging me in screen shots from the show. I'm so happy just knowing that. The Smart shoot took quite a long time because I had to not only work with a Korean crew, but a Philippine team as well which I found quite fascinating. I had to communicate with them over the internet and I'm so glad I got to do it with Smart Communications. I'm very happy that I got to work with them despite the odds. The pandemic had us all confined in our homes after shooting CLOY and we didn't really think much of it til it had really good viewership not only in Korea but elsewhere in the world. But these days, I've been doing my share of isolation at home just like everyone else. When I get good feedback from fans, I don't really get tired of it, I actually want to hear more! (she kids). These days, I spend a lot of time working out and walking my dog when I get the chance to go outside. Exercise makes me happy, it's actually good for my mental health. I would like to go to Boracay soon but I've been to the Philippines before with my family, I find pinoys so welcoming, innocent looking, everyone looked so happy when I was there."

Just got off the press conference of Chris Evans. Valentines Day became even more special for fans of K Drama Kings and Queens Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin. The two stars of Crash Landing On You topbills Smart Communications advertisement for their promotion of Smart's 5G connection where you can indeed get more with the fastest connection. 

 This was something that Smart executives hinted when they came out with the Hyun Bin ad a couple months back as they really didn't want him to be lonely. Today was a nice day to fulfill that.

As of this writing, the video has garnered half a million views in almost 24 hours, pretty strong showing. The power of 5G marks Smart's latest offering of the fastest upload and download speeds on mobile and as they roll out the technology to different parts of the country. Pretty soon, more 5G phones will come out and the connection will be ready for it.

Scenes from their show also were shown on the ad, and that might tie in on data packages they will offer with Netflix wherein that show is shown in the Philippines. She was grateful and thankful, she knew Smart because of Hyun Bin and she’s very picky in endorsement deals, she would have loved to meet her fans. She was here 10 years ago in Palawan and can’t wait to come back. Her contract is a year, including a visit to the Philippines with three events.
