CATRIONA GRAY, Gilas Pilipinas Players, Announced As FIBA Local Ambassadors

Hearing that the FIBA Basketball World Cup is happening in the Philippines is already a huge deal for me. Filipinos are the biggest fans of it in the world, you can tell why as much of the streets are lined with basketball courts, big or small, just so we could have somewhere to play they game we absolutely love.

Yesterday was also extra special as SBP (Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas), FIBA and various affiliates introduced the local FIBA Ambassadors consisting of former Gilas Pilipinas players and the one and only Miss Universe Catriona Gray.

Here's what happened that morning

 

 During the event, they also announced the simultaneous start of the Tissot Time in the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan.  This means there's only "one year to go" before FIBA matches starts. They also have hinted that there will be a FIBA Global Ambassador later this year. This is also the first time in FIBA's history to see three countries hosting the games, with the Philippines heading the pack. They also mentioned that the local ambassadors wouldn't be the only ones to help disseminate information about the games, because YOU can be part of that too. What's also touching is that they plan to identify several basketball courts around the country that they will adopt so they could fix, restore and make them a project for the ambassadors together with the FIBA players, making sure they also get to see the culture and what Filipinos are known for, the heart filled hospitality.

GoDaddy and AXN Launch New Reality Show PROJECT GO

GoDaddy and AXN just launched a new reality show designed for entrepreneurs called PROJECT GO. They are doing this in partnership with Common Ground, #CanB, Esquire, Female Network, Manila Bulletin and Rappler. This is a chance to make their ideas a reality and earlier, they announced the 4 finalists who will vie for the title. Businesswoman Maggie Wilson is also the host of the show. The Tung Brothers (of popular sardine brand Ligo), Rappler Lifestyle and Entertainment Editor Bea Cupin and Tina Shieh, the Marketing Director for of GoDaddy for Asia will be mentoring these guys and gals. It airs every week on AXN Asia, this is part of their commitment so help people succeed online.

Among hundreds, the lucky groups are: MINDOCEO, STAFFZ, LOOP STORE PH and AO Innovations Tech.

MINDOCEO

An on demand tutoring service, where students help other students to support education. Noelle Mison says "We have the help of GoDaddy Tools and we got to really enjoy camaraderie with the other contestants. We all had to shift to digital, the website builder was pretty useful in the show. It also taught us how to survive online. In the next episodes, you will see how we all grow. You will see how we learned from our mentors. Initially, we did the tutorial sessions on location, but it became nearly impossible when the pandemic happened. We had to do it online now and we had to utilize the platforms to make your our idea a reality. Project GO is about empowerment. It gets us equipped for our own communities. It's not like Sharktank, not a cut throat competition. They fostered growth. Our standard is quality education, we don't do this for money, and we really want to help children because we know how it feels to be alone. To succeed globally, we need to support each other. To identify what needs to be given support, to look at education from a different view and find out how we can improve it.  We are a social business, we need to give back to achieve greatness, to contribute to our own communities."

LOOP Store PH

Is a collection of ecologically responsible products. They provide solutions that would make packaging and other items be sustainable and biodegradable.

Pocholo Espina says "We learned that product packaging really mattered, when people started posting more about it, there was brand engagement even in the pandemic. This pushed more innovations for what we have. You've got to keep going. Initially, our mindsets during the pandemic was to wait it out til its over, but we are motivated now to do it rather than wait. There might be a little drama which will keep us on our toes, you have to see that in the show. LOOP Store had to close down last June because of the pandemic. In the past months, we had to re-learn how to open our store online. Now everything is easily accessible.We also got to use an actual domain and use resource that was already there. It can be accessed and be just a search away. All you need to do is get started. Since a lot are online now, you have to invest learning the platforms. Project Go is not a competition, it's all about empowerment, we didn't get to be pit with each other. A lot of our own standards come from our own environmental stand. We are not about just selling alternatives, not just an item, but to educate you and teach that your actions will have long term effects. We need to consider fixing basic infrastructure, we are cutting off even now with the internet connection that we are using; and that won't work with global markets. There needs to be more support with government and private entities, cut bureaucracy, feed ideas so they won't get discouraged. We need to be inclined in getting more of that in the country.

AO Innovations Tech 

 AO Innovations makes full face masks for frontliners at subsidized rates. They utilize thier business to further push advocacy, and implement it with innovation. They quipped "It was exciting for us because we get to funnel our interests on our very own website. It is very important for us because our business is very dynamic. To pursue our dreams, to follow through, to make better with our families and our community. The GoDaddy team was so nice to give us tools that we could use to improve our products and services. I think Project Go as a contest is totally different, it is tech based, but it recognizes us beyond the product. STAFFZ

This team offer back end solutions to SMB's so they could get career opportunities for those who need it most. Pearl De Guzman says "Ultimately, we really enjoyed the consultations we had with our mentors. There are a lot of opportunities online and with GoDaddy. With their tools, you can put up a website even from scratch. It made it easier to market the product. We have different stories, different branding, and you will see how we have all grown when the final pitch is up. Off cam, we are really close, despite having them as competitors, you'll get unbiased opinions from other contestants if what you are doing is not good and you will hear feedback right away. Your Moment Now Has Online Hosts

Your Moment just launched last week, but they're already amping it up with good online hosts as Dawn Chang, Matty Juniosa, Sharlene San Pedro, AC Bonifacio will join the show. It's very evident that they were chosen because of their online presence, although very difficult to complete, they are officially doing it.

Dawn says "My moment was when I was in PBB but when I was supposed to do this I had things to fix in Australia. I thought I wasn't going to do this anymore but Direk insisted I go. I am thankful for that. It's challenging and I think people now appreciate me when I explained things. I am now careful about what I say, I get carried away sometimes and I think that is a challenge."

Matty sayd "After Idol I only did guestings and these people that I am with now is more than I wanted. They are all great artists and suoer good at their craft. We are very happy to do this! I think we will bring something to the table, by being honest I can discuss technical things in singing."

AC says "I was pretty nervous about the hosting part but after being with them several times, it was just all fun! I could bring my take on dance because that's where I excel."

Sharlene says "I was really scared to do this but we have to make sure we didn't have dead air. During the shoot it was actually easy because it was so nice to be wjth them. The show actually allows us to comment on the performances. That is a nice opportunity. I think I can also bring fun and laughter, so we won't be that serious during the show. We don't have much scripts during the show because we will be saying what we think about the performers."

Bela Padilla Joins DAYOFF on their 9th Year!

We're live blogging from Movie Stars Cafe at the MOA grounds to celebrate what seems to be a great way to welcome someone special to join the long running show DAYOFF. It's been running for 9 years now and today we're hearing from the grapevine that it's Bela Padilla who's joining the show.

Pekto started off by thanking everyone for being with them all these years and he reminisced on how many co hosts he's been with... and left him already. Still, he's thankful for the years they've been together and it was really hard on some occasion. Mae was a segment producer back when Carmina and Pekto were the hosts. She's still part of the show but now is in front of the camera and thanks DAYOFF for the opportunity. It has changed her life in a way and she's excited for the future episodes now that Bela is here. 

Bela thanked the staff, production and crew and told us about her adventures taping episodes of Dayoff. She also gave us a sneek peek of the show where she's already a regular host. 

Pekto also told us that he doesn't know why his co hosts left him. It's probably because the challenges are already getting hard and they probably also felt that it was time to move on. Mae said it would be fun because you'll se her more in the upcoming episodes. Bela says she's ready for the challenges and she sees this as an opportunity to go out there. They chose Bela because of her keen sense of picking up jokes, humor and the way she can play with the team of DAYOFF. They are doing this show for the people who are working hard everyday, that's what Bela thinks and she's going to be seen regularly now.

They've got fears but there would be more time to face them and experience it first hand by being in the show. Best of all, you would be able to see them do it on TV every week!

Hosting Solutions for Us!

I just formed a new forum for my friends from college and we need this for our activities this coming UAAP season. It has been a while since our former one dissipated because of the hosting problems we had. I know it would be hard to start over but we don't really have a choice. We have plans to get the domain as well so if the time comes I know where to host it. I would probably go for the dot ORG so it would be appropriately named. I'll ask them who's going to pay for it annually too when the time comes. For now, I'm going to concentrate on how to make the site and portal a little cleaner so when Alumni, Students and Fans of the University of the East Red Warriors would come they'd never hesitate joining this community! I have a hunch that this will be big but for now I'm contented that some of my closest friends are here. Once the games start we will be there to support our Alma Mater weather we win or lose! I'll be a warrior until the end!
