BUM Black Army Releases New OUTLAND EXPLORER Line

Thursday, April 03, 2025

BUM Black Army is taking you to the great outdoors and mixing their urban street wear vibe with it as they release their OUTLAND EXPLORER line this month.

It's got that utilitarian style that BUM Black Army is known for but done in earth tones, something city dwellers could carry all throughout the day. It still gives you freedom to move, ample pockets, innovative as it can convert to a different item of clothing or accessory which is a great idea. The shorts have detachable pockets, the jackets and cargo pants provide lots of storage without sacrificing the base style. This is inspired by nature and the city, pretty modern and designed for the more adventurous ones too.

You can get these looks at the BUMBlackArmy.com website, on shopping apps like Shopee or Lazada. They also have a TikTok Shop and several BUM Black Army boutiques nationwide. It's time you try this Outland Explorer line for yourself and take that look to the next level with BUM Black Army.

Have You Seen Those New AXE Scents?

Thursday, January 16, 2025

Looks like there are new fragrances in the counter, and yes, it's our dependable brand AXE.

These days, folks don't just have one scent on and have them layered. It's that personalization that makes it appealing.

From brand to artists, they have their own way of producing these. Though most of the time, it'll cost an arm and a leg because of royalties.

A great scent certainly can take you places, it also makes you exude confidence, to also feel good in different times of the day. The new scents are Blue Lavender, Emerald Sage, Aqua Bergamot. Bergamot is fruity and spice, Lavender is quite relaxing, grassy and floral, while Sage is warm and earthy.

Those designer scents may cost a lot, but AXE presents these new scents so you have options especially if you are using them for everyday fare. Make sure to check them out in Watsons and leading beauty and grooming counters nationwide. I bet it'll be hoarded by guys and gals because from the looks of it (and smell), it feels quite promising!

RADYO5 Launches New Look with 92.3 TRUE FM

Monday, March 13, 2023

Spent the afternoon at Quezon City Circle for the launch of 92.3 RADYO5 TRUE FM as they roll out programs for the only news station on FM frequency. Their tagline is "Dito tayo sa totoo!", and we all got to see hosts of the several show which will comprise the programming schedule of the rebranded station.

Present during the occasion was Mon Gualvez, Ted Failon, DJ Chacha, Lourd de Veyra, Danton Remoto, Dr. Love Bro. Jun Banaag, Dr. Edinell of Healing Galing. Broadcaster Cheryl Cosym, Balita Pilipinas hosts, and several more personalities involved in the station. TRUE FM wants to provide entertainment, music, true news and public service to all corners of the Philippines. This is the first two in one station in the country, and they are putting that into good news.

Ms. Cherry Bayle says "As you all know we had a Radyo5 liner saying you have to leave the usual, that's why we did public service on FM and news too. We changed the lineup of programs and did a lot of things people can experience on the station. We came up with TRUE FM, truth in journalism, relatable stories, unwavering public service and entertainment."

We also talked to Dra. Edinell of Healing Galing which will be back after a 2 year hiatus

In the morning Mon Gualves will do Bangon Bayan, Ted Failon and DJ Chacha will do a self named show for commentaries. Ted adds "I hope there will be more mobile journalists, we need to have citizen journalists that can do it right. Pam and Julie will be doing it on our show, like feature stories, political ones, and true news."

As for showbiz talk, there was a part where the title Queen of FM was being pitted with DJ Chacha and Laila Chikadora, and they cleared things during the press conference

Also, Senator Raffy Tulfo was phone patched as he was still traveling from a different province when the press conference happened. He told us why he wouldn't be stopping radio anytime soon.

There are still a LOT of things to look forward to now that they've changed their radio station's name and direction. They continue to become different, and will be making change in bringing what the TRUE people need to hear on radio, TV and online. Congratulations on the launch of 92.3 RADYO5 TRUE FM!

MARIANE OSABEL (The CLASH Season 4 Champ) Releases New Single "Pira Piraso"

Friday, July 22, 2022

Grand Champion of The Clash Season 4 Marian Osabel just released her new single "Pira Piraso" under GMA Music.

Mariane says "This is worth the wait, I am glad that my supporters are happy about the single, and now, it's on number 3 on iTunes. Hopefully I'd be able to release another one this year. This song is about when a person gets a bad day, I reflect on the lyrics of my song "Pira Piraso" at the part where it says "Kaunti pang pasensys, kaunti pang panahon". I really enjoy music, I go to different places in the country now because of it, this is what I enjoy, music and travel. I am open to the thought of doing acting gigs, I did a workshop last March, hopefully I'd be able to do it soon because it is exciting and challenging. This song is also about loving someone fully, not in pieces. A thing I would advise newcomers, aspiring singers, is to TRY, don't second guess, because even if you lose, you learn something from it. I did that until I did succeed. As an artist, I put out my feelings in my music. It's a place to vent out, I write and sing that way. I am really happy now, I'm with someone that I could give my 100%, my capacity to love."

Mariane admits, this is about a failed love which she personally has experienced. I'm glad she got over it and is having the time of her life with someone special.

This single is now out on iTunes, Spotify and other streaming platforms so if you love hear dearly, show your support by downloading or streaming copies of it legally. Congratulations Mariane! You deserve all the success!

See Her Shine: SOPHIA STAVE

Monday, July 19, 2021

I've been covering photo shoots of celebrities for quite a number of years. This was kind of special as it's been a while since I've gone out because of the pandemic. I've seen a few photos of her online and getting to know a new artist might seem to be a chore for some, but I felt a little excited because Tyronne Escalante Artist Management had a gem in their hands. She's Sophia Stave, a Filipino American beauty from the province of Bukidnon which is an extensive plateau and mountainous area in Mindanao.

After living in San Francisco for a couple years, she and her parents went back to Malaybalay, Bukidnon 4 years ago for business and pleasure. She didn't know she'd end up representing the city through a pageant that didn't push through because of the pandemic. She was discovered through social media by TEAM (Tyronne Escalante Artist Management) and she's been riding the wave since then.

Sophia has a soft heart for horses and she's been riding competitively since 2018 after tagging along with friends in the province. That's good news so if there would be stunts in projects that would require riding one, she'd wouldn't have to train for it. She also plans to take up Animal Science in college soon as it is clearly has become a passion. She also wants to make it far in showbiz, use this platform to good use and do well in every project she's involved in. Sophia also adores Liza Soberano which she feels she could connect to since they almost have the same background since she too came from the US. She also loves Daniel Padilla, which to me means she has good taste! Here's more of our interview with her at the studio on our video editorial.

We couldn't help but marvel on how she looks. She's very pretty even up close. These photos don't do justice (which I captured on mobile during the shoot).

Currently, Sophia is currently making herself busy at their farm in Bukidnon during the pandemic. She's taking lessons and watching more Filipino movies/series to learn more about the language and her craft. She's a bit flexible in roles she wants to do, she's both a princess and a toughie. Now if she lands in a network soon, you know you've seen her here first. Follow TEAM's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TeamTyronnePH) for more updates about her and other artists from their camp.

You'll see Sophia Stave shine even brighter, soon!

Globe’s Got New Prepaid Promos: Go+

Wednesday, April 28, 2021

Times are hard but Globe understands the situation so they're coming out with new promos to fit your needs during the pandemic. They call it Go+ which means it'll be more than what they offered in the past and since we're all locked in our homes, I'm sure most of you are either working, playing games or streaming with your favorite apps.

They know how important it is to be able to communicate with work related matters and to take your mind off things, entertainment through games or movies would make your mental health a bit better. True, sometimes it's a bit boring at home and taking breaks like that would do tons of good. You would need enough data for both things and these huge allocations would come in handy with what you're doing whether you're at work or play. Registering to the new promo only costs Php 99 via Go+99 which gives you 7 days of 16GB data plus unlimited texts to all networks.

You can use the first 8GB to access kumagcow.com or any website you love, then the other 8GB can be used to access YouTube, Netflix, Viu, iWant, iflix, HBOGo, ONE FC or the NBA. If you're into games, you can also opt for Mobile Legends, Clash of Clans, League of Legends, Wild Rift, PUBG, Call of Duty, MU Origin 2, Legends of Runeterra or Twitch. It just depends on what fits your lifestyle really. If the Go+99 promo doesn't satisfy you, you can opt for bigger allocation via Go+129, Go+149, Go+250. You can access these things via the Globe One app or *143# on your Globe Prepaid phone. These are also available on the GCash app. You have the options, now go work and entertain yourself because Globe is giving you more.

You choose how to use your data, and that's good!

Unboxing the new Vivo Y20s G

Thursday, April 01, 2021

News of this particular model surfaced a few days ago, but hey, we've got first dibs on what is the new Vivo Y20s G, probably an entry to mid range level phone from vivo Philippines.

This is a review unit so we're going to find how it fares and its performance a couple days from now, but so far, aesthetic wise, this is actually a very remarkable one. The build is pretty sleek, you can feel how premium it is. They'll probably have this in different colors, but the Obsidian Black is super nice as it is shiny, and looks expensive.

This can carry a lot of games as its got a Mediatek Helio G80 chipset. This also has a 6GB + 128GB RAM and ROM which means it can do several jobs at a time and store tons of photos and videos in this thin phone. The main camera is at 13MP, with 2 2MP lenses for depth and and macro shots. The front cam is an 8MP teardrop design embedded on top. It's also dual sim, so you can fit two lines if you have different networks you need to be in whether data or calls. You can use this all day, even more as it carries a 5000mAh battery which means it can do hours and hours of games, calls, streams and entertainment.

I will be trying it out for a couple of days so stay tuned on how we check and fare its camera, how it churns out photos and also videos. If this proves to be affordable, this would be something Filipinos would love especially if you're on a budget.

Stay tuned!

Newest RISE Artist GIGI DE LANA

Wednesday, December 02, 2020

Looks like their lineup is getting bigger by the day and yes, today's never different as they now introduce their newest RISE Artists GIGI DE LANA.

Yes, she's the same person you saw in Tawag ng Tanghalan and soon, on the new movie FOUR SISTERS BEFORE THE WEDDING which is the prequel to hit movie Four Sisters and a Wedding. I loved how she did the songs during the  finals, but now she's doing a whole lot more than singing because she's going to be managed by RISE ARTISTS STUDIO.

Gigi says "I am so thankful to everyone who made this possible. I was discovered through Miss Charo Santos after she saw some covers on YouTube. We decided to change my name, yes, from both sides. I think my journey was really tough, but I think it was all worth it. I did undergo workshops from RISE and I think that improved my confidence. I think they want me to do both and we'll do our best to do singing and acting so we can grow."

About Four Sisters, she says "It was very amazing. It  was so nice to be with them because they guided me as a first timer. They were so warm in RISE Artists Studio, I learned a lot from that. I did audition for the role and honestly, it was very new for me. I was nervous, but I think it was all worth it. We did stuff that got me teary eyed, Inang, Sir EJ and Direk Olive was there. I am just so grateful I got to learn from that experience because it was a big process for me."

About her singing, she added "I listened to Celine, Regine, I was really a belter when I was a kid. I first sang the national anthem even if I didn't know the words, it was a funny time but my Mom saw my potential and took care of me since then. I dind't get to drink cold water, we had a notion that it affects my voice but later on, I needed to relax. I really wanted to share the stage with Ms. Regine, Mariah, Sarah G., Kyla, and everyone at Tawag ng Tanghalan especially the first season because they are family to me. We really bonded and dind't think of the competition back then, I hope I could do more."

She wants to be an artist that can do a lot of things, to work with veteran actors. She loves them, hopefully they will have a chance to do so. Right now, she says she's not expecting, but she predicts she will be pushed by RISE and hopes she could acheive a lot after signing up with them.

She currently needs funds to help her Mom who is suffering with breast cancer (latter stage). She is currently doing fundraising on Facebook and on KUMU so make sure you also help her, she needs our help. "I did break down, but this is my job. I have to do it for my Mom, not just my dreams. I have to set aside my feelings because there will be a lot of people affected if I did the same. I am hopeful, I have trust that everything will work out fine."

Her KUMU broadcast will start at 1AM (later) so if you are in the mood for giving, please do. She needs our help too!

TOFARM Announces Festival Director, New Category

Wednesday, March 14, 2018

TOFARM Film Festival 2018 has just announced their new festival director that will not replace former Maryo J Delos Reyes but rather continue his legacy in this one of a kind film festival that aims to uplift the plight of farmers. They have already proven the caliber of their work as it has won festivals left and right, both local and international just this past year. They have harvested a lot as TOFARM and people behind their films create Filipino film masterpieces and showcase these to stakeholders, everyone who would take interest in their plight and how they would tell the stories in these medium. Their theme this year is Tribute to Life: Parating Na which connotes a better life and expecting a great return for the hardships they’ve been through specifically for the agriculture and farming industry. They will also introduce a new category for short films so they can get up and coming, non professional film makers to take up the challenge and create stories with the theme “Slice of Life”.

Philanthropist and EVP of Universal Harvester Inc. Dr. Milagros How says “It’s so nice to see you and share with you what TOFARM Film Festival has this 2018. In the untimely passing of Maryo J, many of you were asking what would happen to this festival, well we will continue with our new advisers and consultants. We have Bibeth Orteza, our consultant Laurice Guillen who unfortunately couldn’t be here right now and Direk Joey Romero, so TOFARM is definitely alive. We can only expect the best. The TOFARM Film Festival Director, Direk Bibeth Orteza, our Managing Director Joey Romero. Cheers to farmers all over the Philippines and cheers to the Filipino Film industry!”

Bibeth says “I am here because I am a grand daughter of a farmer, the films of my childhood, titles that have been familiar for me. I saw Direk Maryo last Christmas and he told me I should be here. This opportunity and privilege to serve the farmers is just a good thing. The roi will be 50/50 between TOFARM and the filmmaker. The shortfilm competition will be for entries 1-10minutes long.”
Sir Joey Romero says “Our achievement dinner was a few weeks before Maryo J passed away. We talked about how Ms How was so passionate about this film festival - and now I am part of it.”

Ms Bibeth also adds “The deadline will be April 20, 2018 and will be sent to the TOFARM Secretariat. 7 finalists will be announced on May 23, 2018. Each will be given Php 1,500,000 which will be given in three tranches (Php 500,000) then the director can solicit funds to augment costs for the film. It must be about a Farmer, livestock raiser, fisher folk, or anything related to agriculture. We are also going to have a TOFARM Short Film Competition.”

Joey Romero also explained the short film category and says “The short film competition, will have 7 finalists. It will be shot entirely on a cellphone, the period of submission will be the same, professionals cannot join. It will be announced on September 12-18. They can have a maximum of 2 entries but only one will be a finalist. You can win Php 50,000 and a high end mobile phone as grant if you get chosen.”

For all interested parties, please visit their website www.tofarm.org and download the competition forms, fill it up and follow the instructions. My friends and I are going to try our luck in the short film category, because WHY NOT? We could get the chance to win too. They also plan to distribute and showcase their films to schools and special screenings nationwide, so stay tuned!

In the pool with Martin Del Rosario

Saturday, December 09, 2017

Had to run from BGC to Quezon City a few days ago to be with Martin Del Rosario. It's his birthday and I was so ecstatic to see him because it's been a while since I last interviewed him. What I'm so glad about is that whenever you see him, it's like you're old friends and it's like you're just starting where you left off.

It's his birthday too and in the last few years he's done a couple of things for special education kids, charities, he also had us in his bar The Armory in Congressional Avenue in Quezon City (which by the way is the number one bar in this district) but he felt he needed to experience something new this year with no less but his closest fans. Where else to do that but the Swimming Pool of Ace Water Spa in Quezon City.

This place is pretty nice, it's got several places to relax and get water massages, a jacuzzi like pool, then a lap pool where Martin is going to be with his fans this afternoon.

He immediately waved at me when he saw me taking photos. See what I mean about him being a long lost friend? That's exactly how it felt. He definitely is very down to earth, I really like him because of that.

They were taught by a professional swimming instructor, honestly I was envious because I still don't know how to swim. They on the other hand were enjoying the time with Martin and practically now learning a new skill.

Here's good looking Joshua Jacobe too who hosted the event. As mentioned in earlier events, this guy is just getting so good at this, I could tell because he's cracking jokes now while making a spiel LOL. He's probably going to host shows soon too.

So now is the time to get serious, so we got Martin in one shallow part of the pool and asked him about his current projects. Of course we didn't forget to take photos of the puppy eyed guy so you can also marvel how cute he is. So aside from updates about his business, he's keeping himself busy with a new show on GMA called "HINDI KO KAYANG IWAN KA!" (I can't leave you!) which will be replacing the hit series with Kris Bernal called Impostora. The show was extended so theirs will start as soon as that show ends. We also have it on video, but we have a separate one which we will release soon (if we get permission). In the meantime enjoy Martin while beside the pool.

GMA Artist Center would loke to thank Goldilocks and ACE Water Spa for supporting this event. Male sure you stay tuned with Martin's new show and upcoming movies, you'll surely love him even more as soon as some of them come out. Congratulations Martin! I couldn't be more proud of the things you are doing now and the plans you have for yourself in the future! Continue to be humble, as hou'll be successful every time you need to because you're a good man. That takes a lot!

New Food Destination: Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Restaurant

Monday, October 17, 2016

There are real gems in Quezon City, and you don't really have to go out to get some of it. We visited the Banawe district and found Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Restaurant along NS Amoranto in the same city. Now we do like Vietnamese cuisine, but have seen how bastardized it has become (pardon the word) with some restaurants trying to mimic legitimate dishes - and come out just half short of what it's supposed to be like. For me, any attempt to half heartedly prepare something that you would call authentic should be taboo because that word is exact.

Tra Vinh presents itself quite simple. The restaurant that Mr. Van Chien Ho put up in Western Australia was made to remind him of his home country Vietnam. They've been able to do authentic Vietnamese cuisine and it has been loved down under for over 20 years. Now what's great news is that they're here in the Philippines and have been loved by the local community as well. We knew we were in for a great meal. So if you're planning to go here, you better be ready for food coma because that's what I got after this. First off, we're going to have Vietnamese Coffee!

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
I love coffee in general, but their Vietnamese Coffee was a whole other story. They have this in three different intensities. I chose something in the middle, and it had a caramel like consistency.

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
I had the iced version too and they serve it in a cup, and get a glass full of ice. They also have the condensed milk on the cup so you don't get that lumpy coffee later on.
Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
It was really good, I wanted another one but it'll probably make me stay awake til the next day. For caffeine lovers, I would highly suggest the stronger brew.

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
Their version of the Fresh Spring Roll was lovely. It was plump, wrapped in rice paper, had fresh ingredients and a gnarly peanut sauce on the side. They also have a Vegetarian version for those who would want it more healthy, or perhaps like me who wants to shy away from shrimp.

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
Speaking of shrimp love, this is their Prawn Pomelo Salad. They use the freshest ingredients and attest they probably go to market every day to make sure they only get it, otherwise they won't serve it at all. This dish is like a party in the mouth. The crunchy, the savory, the peanuts and tangy notes from the dressing just meld together. I would love to have this a little spicy too.

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
This one's called Prawn Sugarcane. As the name suggests, it's like ground prawn meat spun around a sugarcane stick. It's both savory and sweet. It's a great appetizer, but who doesn't want piping hot white rice right?

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese NoodlesTra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles

For those who would love something festive, this one's called the Vietnamese Pancake. I've seen this in the streets of Hanoi and it's like a representation of harvest, of spring, the freshest ingredients. The way to eat this "legit" is to wrap the actual pancake with the greens. I think they've got shrimp, ground pork, scallions and eggs on that pan cake. The savory pancake slices, wrapped in the sprigs of mint, mustard and iceberg lettuce. Then you have to dip it in a mixed sweet vinegar. Don't fret for those who are new to this, because the service of making the wraps is included. They're going to prepare it for you so you don't have to worry.

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
Now this one is not on the menu, so ask nicely if they could serve it to you. It's called Crab and Seafood Soup, and they use mud crabs or soft shell crabs for the broth. We smelled intense sea flavors, and the broth was a little thick. It was comforting and it would fit nicely during those rainy afternoons if you want something that would make you warm and fuzzy inside.

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
This one is called Beef Combination Noodle Soup. You basically have a broth made from 16 herbs and spices (we saw it but I don't know half of the spices used as it's a secret), plus beef shoulder slices, New Zealand rib eye, beef balls and tripe. It's also got a serving of vegetables on the side and high grade Hoisin and hot sauce. The broth was clear, a notch away from the usual murky broth that most restaurants do here because they only do it fresh and keep the flavor profile simple and clean. Those over boiled counterparts probably have residue in them, they prefer a light, not so intense, just so you could taste the herbs and spices they put in them. I like this because it's not oily or too over powering. It's done right.

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
My mom would love this. It's called Stuffed Chicken Wings. It contains seasoned ground pork, some veggies and a crispy coating that I love. It's a little eggy and I love that kind. This is one of their entrees and you've got lots of choices.
Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
For those who might think the bowls of Pho might be too big, you can always have the Dry Noodles. This one is the Barbecue Pork Noodle. It's got that tasty barbecued pork, fresh and pickled veggies and your choice of noodle. I would probably have had the flat ones but any rice based noodle is fine with me. This is served with their very own Tra Vinh special dressing and a vegetarian fried spring roll. You MUST mix this thoroughly so you get every bit accounted for. Again, this is like a party in your mouth and I love it.

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
I liked this too. This is their Fried Salt and Pepper Fish. It's fried crispy on the outside, still soft and meaty on the inside. As mentioned earlier they go to the market every day in search for fish this good. The onions and veggies on top can be used together with the fish. I could have this on it's own when I'm on a diet. It's a good thing to have though with your whole family.

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
For those who still crave for more shrimp dishes, this one was consumed fast. It's called Vietnamese Salt and Pepper Prawns. If my hunch is right, they've probably got the same kind of breading as with the fish earlier. This however made it crispy that you can eat it all. I would probably do that and just leave the tail on the plate. This would be good for kids who want fried stuff too.

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
They really did save the best for last. This is the Special Vietnamese Fish Soup. I've never had anything like this at all. I thought it was going to be a little close to Tom Yum soup but it really wasn't. It tasted like a fish in a very tangy and fruity broth. We couldn't even feel any fishiness at all. I tried it with and without chili, and boy it was so good with it! Again, it is PERFECT with CHILI. They also use Chinese Kangkong so you're getting your money's worth. I like how the fruity notes end with hot stings, you MUST experience that. I would suggest you bring someone with you to have this with rice. This is a LOT but I'd have this for a family meal anytime!

Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Noodles
For dessert, we had this one which is not on the menu. It's called Vietnamese Coffee Jelly. It's topped with a scoop of ice cream and if you love coffee, this is the perfect way to end your meal.

Now I love this one they call Special Mixed Beans. It's basically much like our local halo halo or iced cacang of Malaysia, but it's got it's own charm. They use coconut milk for this so it's totally different. They also have garbanzo beans in the mix (which I love) and some black beans, brown ones and white ones. It's earthy and has got just the right amount of sweetness. I love this a lot! Plus, it's not that expensive either.
For those who want something new to eat or if you're really adventurous about what you want to eat, come and experience Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Restaurant in Quezon City. You can view the map here so you won't get lost.

In a nutshell, they're one of the most affordable restaurants in the district and according to the owner "We're not really known yet and we're here in this location for a trial basis and see if the Chinese community in Quezon City would accept the food we serve, and we feel it is. It's in our plans to open more branches in the next few years, probably from here going south." so if you're a little too far from the current location, be ready as they are planing to expand. For those who want real authentic Vietnamese food now, just head on to NS Amoranto street and find Tra Vinh Authentic Vietnamese Restaurant. It's very near Mc Donalds, right by the PARES joint. You can also just search the name of the restaurant on Google Maps and it'll take you there. Trust me on the Special Vietnamese Fish Soup.
