It's November and I can feel the cold wind blowing. Oh that's just the air conditioning unit... nothing to be afraid about like its snowing in Manila... people could die from that.

I wanted to go to the CREAM Halloween Ball but decided not to go last minute. I go out too much these days. I need a massage more than anything else. I always go to bars and end up drunk then swear never to drink again because of the hangover. It's a vicious cycle!

I'm going some place where most tourists have been before. I'm going with my folks and sister so this is going to be a little troublesome for me. I pay the bills... well most of it.

I haven't paid my phone bills yet. I will have to eventually but I'm doing a lot of things these days. Don't worry I might be able to do that after this post. Bancnet is probably online now.

Did you know that the Starbucks Planner for 2010 is out?! Yeap! So start collecting those stickers and cards again so you can get the planner for free. Well not really, you need to drink a ton of frapuccinos and get nervous before you get one. Did I say you'll pay close to a few thousand pesos too? It's a marketing trap and we are all falling for it!

Some Jolina Fans are bugging me over Facebook claiming I said something bad about their idol on an article. If you really read the fine print, it was all about just turning up the volume (hence I was talking about the audio) and not about the artist. Did you really read the post I made?! Spare me the drama... puhleaaase!

Off to Singapore! See you there! =)

Privacy Options!

It's been really hectic in the office because I had to redo some reports before the weekend and this is on top of our task to move to the other building as instructed by administration. I haven't even seen the room yet but they say it is quite open. I'm planning to get blinds so we would still have privacy while working there. Some of our documents and meetings are very confidential and if we are seen by everyone passing by that would just be too great of a risk! Getting some needed cover would solve the problem in a jiffy. I'm sure it will cost much less than putting up another wall or tearing down whole glass panels just for that purpose.

I'd like to make myself believe that everything would be a 100% okay when transferring but the logistics would be a nightmare. Easy solutions like that would make life a little better. It would cost a lot cheaper too because it would serve as commercial grade blinds that fit right in to the office feel. Some establishments like HILLARYS even have experts you can arrange appointments with so you can fix this faster than the usual handyman would do. I love what they could do in hotels, restaurants, and most public or private buildings. It instantly makes everything look better and I don't have to shell out too much funds for it!

Do you have them on your home? Is it easy to maintain? Care to share your experiences?

Party Pilipinas: Fans versus Zombies

Monday, November 01, 2010

Party Pilipinas... Oh where do I start...

It was one of those things that you wake up for. I went to GMA Channel 7 yesterday to watch Party Pilipinas. Mind you this was just a breeze to walk from my place (I live a few blocks away from the station). This particular show was for Halloween and as you know in the Philippines it's a pretty big deal to celebrate this American tradition. Riding on the popularity of the game Plants versus Zombies, Party Pilipinas wanted to put a twist on it. This episode is FANS versus Zombies!

Kris Lawrence, Mark Bautista and Aljur Abrenica
I was eager to see some of the best singers in the country. On that part I wasn't disappointed. Since we went there early we saw the rehearsals and to tell you honestly I couldn't believe I was in front of Regine Velazquez, Ogie Alcasid, Jaya, Jay-R and Kyla. They had that presence. I've heard these guys sing through radio and their CD's but not live. It was a treat and not a trick if I may say so. Their belting prowess was but awe inspiring. The crooners were all good too. If only Oprah saw these guys too she wouldn't agree more that we are a nation of singers.

I won't tell you things that I don't know of and please forgive me if I don't say so much stuff about the other singers. I don't watch Party Pilipinas regularly or know much of the singers in GMA so this visit to the show definitely was an eye opener. I had a very positive outlook that day and I believe in second chances. This logic was tested and torn apart when I heard them sing one by one.

The opening performance was great. One number to take note of was the "Bring me to Life" performance from Elmo Magalona and a certain Julie Anne... it was really good. If I wasn't too tired that day I would have stood up for a standing ovation just for that. This girl can really sing and I hope she gets more exposure. She never held back on showing how good she was... IT WAS VERY POWERFUL! I didn't know her before the show and after that jaw dropping performance I'm a converted fan. Elmo was good too, he picked up bigtime from his father's footsteps. Mom Pia should be darn proud! After a few more years I wouldn't be surprised if he gets record deals and be a star on his own.

Kyla , Rachelle Ann Go , Frencheska Farr, Jolina Magdangal and La Diva did a medley of Sweet Dreams which to me is pardon the word "mediocre". I had some doubts that it would work with that musical score since they ended up eating each others lines. They are a class on their own. Maybe if it were a separate portion for these guys and La Diva it would have been better; but that is my opinion you may have felt otherwise. La Diva can definitely stand on their own.

(*this photo is for Zai because he likes naked guys LOL*)

I love the number with my new crush Rhian Ramos (and I wish that we'd get married! *yeah right you wish!* LOL). They were definitely hot in their dance number with Aljur Abrenica. I didn't even know Heart Evangelista had assets like that, she should definitely try a more sexier image because she can definitely carry it. If she didn't run across me to go to the backstage I wouldn't have known that.

As for April Boy Regino, these guys above and his son JC, it was his son who was a BIG hit among the girls... but everyone kept asking who he was (literally! as in "SINO KA KUYA!?" via the people at my back) and April Boy gladly introduced him. Surely he's going to be a feather on the hat of his Dad. Yeap, I think he got a lot of screams than his father but if you close your eyes and listen to them they almost sound alike. Kinda slightly creepy but its Halloween so we'd have to leave it at that! They have an album out and the carrier single is a duet so you better get a copy to get to know them! Bino of Damuhan.com even got the famous cap April Boy throws away hehe!

Jaya, hands down you are really awesome... I didn't know you can get that high on live television! Regine you are the only one that can do that... everyone dreams to sing like you! I also have more appreciation now with Mr. Ogie Alcasid, his presence seemed very regal at that time (maybe because he had a suit on) but he sang with passion and you can feel every word. It takes a songwriter to do justice with songs like that. I really felt that aura of being in the midst of superstars when they went out. The jokes on the side though about Regine and Ogie was another treat! They were really sweet and I understand why they fell in love with each other! You should see them off cam! Hehe!

Jolina Magdangal, I have no doubt you can sing but please ask your people to do something about your audio. I couldn't quite hear you from where I am and most probably that's what people watching also felt. Your soft voice is good but please ask them to pump up the volume so at least we could feel your presence.

Kyla I love you and your voice and I hope you feel the same way hehe. JayR you know what you are doing. Man you are crazy in Twitter but you are one helluva singer!

Randy Bieber aka KC Montero we didn't get to talk but I was there. I was the one who taught you how to do battery pulls on your blackberry remember?! Heheh...

One of the surprises they had on the program was this Pinoy KPOP group POINTEN. They had their share of limelight there. It was refreshing to see these korean-filipinos perform korean songs and mind you I was impressed. They were definitely cute. I specifically like the part when they said tagalog phrases to the amusement of the crowd. I laughed because they said it like kittens with conviction. Hihih!

All in all, you should give Party Pilipinas a second look. I wasn't fond of afternoon shows until I saw the hard work they put into these programs. I hope when your mind is closed on just watching the other station just give this one a try and see the talent they have to offer. At this time I felt the Philippines had so much talent. Party Pilipinas rocks! You should definitely go give them a visit if you can. It's totally different if you watch them live but you can always choose GMA and watch them on TV if you prefer not to go through the brouhaha. I'd recommend you do that this coming Sunday when they'll be showing their SENTI side. For details, please like their Facebook Fan Page here CLICK THIS.

Thanks to the people who made this possible! Thanks also to the people at Party Pilipinas! Watch them at 12:10 PM every Sundays on GMA!

P.S. Now for some serious stuff. I was excited because this was an invitation from another blogger and the folks from Party Pilipinas. I'm a professional and I expect be treated like one. If they went out of their way to invite us and write about the program the last thing we should worry about is logistics. I couldn't tell you more details about the horror we went through just to get my DSLR camera in (and I didn't hence you see Anton of Pusangkalye.net's photos on my site). Anyway back to regular programming.

P.S #2 from an unpublished comment on this article (couldn't publish because of email address) Party Pilipinas apparently didn't have knowledge about us going there. Still, I wish there was some process to get our cameras in and not brush us off like we weren't important. Thanks though for helping Anton get his camera in! No issues, but I'd really have to beg off next time. Thanks peeps!

The Amazing Race Asia Experience

I've been a fan of this show since it's inception. I don't know what particular part of it made me interested but I guess seeing how different personalities deal with situations brought about the adventures they have while traveling and doing tasks is an integral part of it. Do you remember Rovilson Fernandez and Marc Nelson? They almost won it and I was one of the few people who got disappointed when they didn't get to win the grand prize. Imagine they almost won all of the rounds and it was just the last one which they didn't get to finish first. Back to get an impressive revenge are more Filipino Teams and it looks very promising. I went to a viewing event a couple of nights ago at Greenbelt 3 in Makati. I was excited to say the least but because I'd get to see the guys and gals who appeared in the show I went on my way. It was high time I get to know them even for just one night... it was one of the few things I wanted to do being a fan of the show. It was awesome!

Richard Hardin and Richard Herrera aka "The Richards" were there and I think I've seen them in a couple of runway shows and TV stints in the past. I was quite impressed because they all made an effort to take time and get to know people, we seldom see people do that nowadays. It's so refreshing to see them hobnobbing elbows with us eating, drinking booze in National Sports Grill. This consequently is a bloggers night so there are other people from the industry there too. We watched episode 5 and 6. Why you ask? It's the time that they arrive and leave the Philippine shores. This leg of the race had then running from Sri Lanka to Mt. Mayon and Bisibis bay in Legazpi City. The other being their trip from Legazpi City to New Zealand. The women apparently have been dreaming of seeing beaches here. I hope they weren't disappointed they had to clean the shores to see and get there. Some of them were cleaning freaks so it took them a few minutes what other teams had to do with quite a little more time. I didn't get to be in the group photo op though later in the evening because I had to leave for work that day. I'll still watch this show by hook or by crook and you should do the same. How? That's easy. Make sure you press those remote controls and stop on AXN Asia. The show will be aired there every Thursday at 9:00 PM. (Two of the photos courtesy of AXN Asia's website)

Before I forget... of course we have another team in the race!

Oh no not that! LOL!
Meet these gorgeous ladies!

Jacinta James and Lani Pillinger, a tattooist and model from the Philippines. Lani was there at the party and oh boy was she HOT! Apologies for the testosterone driven word there but I'm sure we can't help it! LOL!

We would like to thank the glorious City of Legazpi and Misibis Bay Resort who served as our sponsor for the event. This place has served as the pit stop for Episode 5 and the starting point for Episode 6. Thanks to the guys and gals who made it to the end of the race. Thanks to the organizers and people behind this event. I had so much fun!

Easy Breezy Web Hosting

Friday, October 29, 2010

I've been looking for a way to promote my photography business and one of the best solutions I know is to get a web site for it. I've been putting up structures like this in the past and one of the important choices I have to make is how to find easy breezy web hosting. Setting up a domain is strategy among all other things in business. If I'm going to make this right I have to start with the clear basics. Choosing the right name, domain name and planning the site architecture so if someone gets my services it wouldn't be too hard to contact me. I have to also allot time to put content on it so I would be able to present professional looking output as what I've been doing in the past. My portfolio will speak for itself and I have to get some of the site details to enhance what I already have. With this in the works I'm surely going to open more opportunities for my peers as well. I need to get the hiring process for an assistant done ASAP!

To get a lucrative business going I have to get the best services even if it is just for hosting my web site. It actually spells how it would make or break me in the long run. I have to choose wisely if I plan to use it for transacting business too. The connection also needs to be secure and accommodate the traffic which this site calls for. Maybe institutions like web hosting hub should be taken in consideration since they match the perfect one I require. Are you running a commercial site now? Is your provider doing a good job? Let me know!

Teaser: Philippine Fashion Week 2010: AXE Event

Sorry for the late post guys! I know I've been busy this week and that includes the short visits I made in cemeteries because I'll be out of the country for a few days in November. I wish I could take you all with me and my folks for a little rest and recreation but if I bought you tickets that will be a LOT expensive! Ha-ha!

It's high time I show you some of the photos I took while in Fashion Week. At least I need to update you of what I've been doing this past few days. There are also several events in between so just stay put and enjoy the view. I'll start with the guys first!

AXE the favorite deo cologne for men in the Philippines has put together a couple of designers and shown how a simple spray can be infectious and drag all the women in. To get the girl you gotta be smelling good like these guys here!

See what it does if you spray them on generously?! That's the point! You have to have AXE to get the AXE EFFECT. Are you wondering where the girls are? They went in force!

Here's the army!

They run after guys who wear and have the AXE Effect. Go get those deodorant sticks and deo cologne sprays and get chased by these same women too!

I just got it this afternoon... and I'm going out this evening with it too. Spritz!

Showing more of this set soon! Off to Fashion Week again tomorrow! See yah!

Keeping it up with the Writing Process

Thursday, October 28, 2010

When I attended an event this evening, something made an impact on me. It was such an eye opener to say the least. A gorgeous lady who was one of the organizers of the event approached me and asked if I experienced having a writer's block. She obviously knows that I blog. I thought about it for a few minutes and answered a resounding yes. I do run out of ideas to write about and sometimes I do plainly get tired of putting my thoughts into this medium. It was a chore to do when I was in graduate school. Aside from the numerous reports that I had to draw in Engineering class my professor had to tell me and whip up a story for a couple of books we had to analyze. I was not the greatest guy to do time management because I had a lot of things in mind like the organization I run with my peers. Even if this was something easy for me I still couldn't do my assignments in time because of extracurricular activities. If only I had known of PhDWorks.org at that time, things would have been a lot easier for me.

Their people can easily finish an essay or term paper in as short as 3-12 hours. Quality would not be questionable since experienced UK based writers are going to do it. If I had a choice back then I would gladly have them do my custom writing paper. I can probably have that submitted to my most demanding professors and I don't have to worry about it anymore. Being at par with American or British educational systems this would be a cinch for them. Things like these should be easy to handle on a normal day but if you need help, make sure you go where custom paper writing service is available on line that's made by professionals. So if you want to make your life easier and do other things aside from slaving on your assignments you know where to go to!

Daily Moo's 10272010

I just got back from Philippine Fashion Week Day #2 and it was sweet! I got to talk to a lot of people and what a night it was to get me front row seats in the AXE sponsored fashion show. Their creations were really great. I'm going to let you in on it once my photos are processed. Telling it with just words would bore you. It was nice meeting other prominent bloggers there too! I'd like to say hi to Jayson and Amity! See you on tomorrow's event and thanks for the ride! That's just sweet!

I'm so addicted these days with Chico and Delamar Podcasts. It's because I couldn't get to listen to live ones in the morning since I travel from work to home when it starts. That sucks but I have to do what's second best! I didn't weep with the latest batch of shows where they interviewed RX scholars. Stories were heart wrenching don't get me wrong but it looked like a rerun of Wowowee and I hate that!

I almost saw the bloggers that made Tunaynalalake.com last week. They were right there but I didn't really notice them. It was okay though because I kinda saw them being all rowdy at the Nuffnang event. But I really didn't think it was them... that was such a waste of time to think about now. Hahaha!

I've been trying so hard to win on Jessica Zafra's Litwit challenges but it looks like I'm not going to be close to anything interesting in their books. I have no structure unlike Glenn and Jepoy... teach me perhaps?! Hehehe

Tomorrow will be another fun day as I go to another event, I'm really excited to see more people. Well not that much but can you just feel I'm excited?! Hehehe! I wish I could be with the other bloggers that I already know so it wouldn't be that awkward!

I'm going to post my Fashion Week set on Facebook and probably put some of them here too. I just hope I do justice on some of them. I haven't done that much male models in the past so this one is going to be a lot different! Watch out for that! =)

Oh did I say there were gorgeous women on it too?! Hahah!

Frames for Me

I've been having headaches these days and I got some minor bad news from my doctor. I might need to wear glasses. I'm not really a fan of wearing them since I see how hard it is to maintain. Some of my friends have worn them since they were kids and it looked like it was a little troublesome; let alone not fashion inclined... and to tell you honestly I'm afraid to be in the same situation. I did despise wearing them until I found an on line store that gave me choices beyond my imagination. They have designer grade prescription glasses that are very affordable so who could argue with that?! I must admit I was afraid they would all be very pricey because most malls carry them around hundreds of dollars. The on line store initially had their frames around 8 but these guys are so generous they even have more on the $6.50 range. Who can resist that?! They also have virtual try-on frames so you can take a look at what looks good on you. You can just get a portrait of yourself literally uploaded and fit with your favorite frames. That's just not available elsewhere! Amazing!

So if you guys have that notion or think that it's not cool wearing glasses these days; just remember that you may not have found the perfect pair yet. It takes time... or maybe it just takes a simple place on the net like ZENNI to get you one that you would love. You won't regret these things if you start right in choosing what would look good on you. Am I right?!

Daily Moo's 10262010

I just did something wrong today but I'm not going to tell you guys about it. You might think I'm not as smart as I look heheh.

It's around 20 hours left before I lose a deal on CASHCASH for the Cream Halloween Ball. It's one of the best rave parties in Asia and I really want to shoot there too. They've got the best DJ's from Europe who'll probably be great at Electronica and House which I'm really fond of.

This week will surely be a very busy one for me because as a fashion photographer you can never go without fashion week every year. I never skipped one so I'm surely going to be in the sidelines again. I got one for the Penshoppe and AXE sponsored shows. Hopefully I get to see some people from the industry and get my rollerdecks running. I have 2 major projects in line and I need them for logistics. Thanks for the bloggers that hooked me up *hint hint* heheh!

I'm currently busy right now backing up my photos on DVD. I have around 50 on my archive. I don't want to fill up hard drive space and I'm saving the raw ones now. I specifically also want to backup my workshop with Xander Angeles so I won't be sorry if I have problems with my laptop. It acted up the other day but its okay now. That was just a hint of an upcoming nightmare I guess.

More events will happen soon so if you have read my previous entries, there will be more of that soon!

See yah wouldn't wanna be yah! =)
