COMBO ON THE RUN Review and How To Get ERASERHEADS Tickets Early via PalawanPay

I was there during their last concert, their last appearance with Smart...  and now they have COMBO ON THE RUN in cinemas so I had to watch this too.

The ERASERHEADS was more than icon, they were a phenomenon that only occurs once in a lifetime. They defined the band life during the 90's, Raymund, Marcus, Ely and Buddy became gods for us, and this was a fitting pickup from where we left off.

The movie was a hodge podge of dark grungy clips of Nokia phone videos sewn together from them being amateurs to tapping club gigs later on. They weren't an overnight success, it was a slow burn, of people who came into their lives that made them who they are today.

Recording those demos and sounding like it was coming from a can, they needed to re-record everything and got it played first on equally iconic radio station for rock NU107.

The songs that got us hooked, the punks, the emos, and how crazy it became, it was the best of times. They toured not just in the Philippines but around Asia, MTV Awards, fame was getting to them fast and it was pandemonium wherever they are.

Their personal life got affected, their privacy, but they still had to dish out songs continuously, without breaks, no vacations, and nobody was saying they were tired. Then still got to movies, commercials, more tours, then did a lot to turn people off. They went weird, lost, but the companies didn't want them to do that. Then finished an album without meeting in studios, they went downhill, had their own set of friends, butt heads, started to really get on each other's nerves. Nobody fixed it. They also didn't know how to manage money,

I loved how they included Ms. Sharon Cuneta, VP Leni, politics and their issues were discussed. Now I have a good understanding about what happened during that time. 

 

 

 

Then now, meeting again after years... they are now setting aside their differences for the fans, a part that made me really emotional. Then they went ahead and surprised us at the end of the film about doing a concert on May 31st. That's almost a month from now, and you can get tickets ahead of everyone else through PalawanPay.

Smart and PLDT Unveils New Logo + Eraserheads Reunion Concert

A surprise wasn't a surprise if some of us knew about it, they kept this in the wraps for a few weeks. I've been hearing different humors about what was going to happen on this day but all along, I thought it was just going to be another technological wonder that they have come up with because after all, they're Smart and PLDT. When they came up on stage I couldn't believe they would be starting to change something that's already iconic, the logo that they've been carrying for years. Yes ladies and gentlemen, you are looking at Smart Communications Incorporated and PLDT's new logos. Tons of media, influencers and celebrities were at the Makati Shangri-la to witness it and for me it was already a great night, but they had A LOT up their sleeves. They did a live announcement of it first on their Facebook Page and did it on the PLDT Building along Makati Avenue. Here's how it went down!

It was awesome! We were all in a festive mood after that. Change has come for the BIGGEST mobile network in the country. But they didn't really stop there. The lights were turned off, the stage became a little busier than usual, then I suddenly saw someone come up on stage. My JAW dropped. It was freaking Buddy Zabala.... then after a few seconds, Marcus, then after that, Raymund Marasigan, then my rock god Ely Buendia. I couldn't believe it, my super favorite band is right in front of me, after YEARS of not playing together... it was THE ERASERHEADS! I was about to pass out, while freaking out, and shouting my lungs out because they were there, in the flesh and they did this reunion just for us and SMART!

Now I promised my friends, I promised a lot of people that I wasn't going to be selfish so here's the concert on video. I uploaded this for two days so PLEASE don't complain why I'm singing in the background, because they are like Justin Bieber to the millenials LOL! Some tech bloggers were already looking at me like I'm crazy, I'm very sorry but you don't understand how BIG OF A DEAL this is for me so if you were a little bothered by how I was reacting while they were playing, again I'M SO SORRY!

Thank you so much to SMART for checking A TON on my bucket list. I am still in shock while I'm writing this article. Thank you to Smart and PLDT for making this happen! Congratulations on the new logo and I'm sure this is the start of so much more for the Filipino people!

Ely Buendia XL

Pardon my French but let me say this... I am one lucky bastard. Just after the dental surgery that crippled and forced me to take a vow of silence til now, I got an invite to my one and only ROCK GOD Ely Buendia's concert. Ely Buendia XL is a celebration of his 40 years of existence in this world, his life, friends, people in the business and relatives who made this stay a whole lot better. He is a survivor; his heart condition hounded him through the years and yet here he is strong and ever better.

If I didn't have 4 stitches on my mouth my jaw would drop literally. Imagine I was right there in front of my rock god. He's so awesome in person and he passed by me a couple of times. I nearly fainted (if only there was someone that could catch a 200+ pound guy there I would!) and oh boy it was nostalgia! That's the perfect word for it, nostalgia!

He wanted to do a show with his songs that have not been heard by the public and those that influenced him. His father was the one who gave him the title of the show from a phone conversation they had... he asked him what he's going to do for his XL, he said "whaat?! (O_o).. it was the roman numeral counterpart of 40. He also said in some video clips that he's glad to be alive to do this for the people he love, people he care about and his fans.

The lineup consists of Bus Stop, Sembreak, Dreamdate, Buzz Kill, Magasin, Bum Ticker, Wasak Waltz and a lot more. You should definitely watch this. Thanks idol for giving me an invite to this event. If I was a die hard fan before, I'm definitely more than that now... a worshiper perhaps?! LOL Happy Birthday Ely!

Daily Moo's 09202010

Arrived from the office and have a horrible stomach ache. It must be the Mogu Mogu or Orange Juice that's makin me acidic. It's a terrible way to start the day.

I had a blast this weekend. I went out with the D60Krew and rode the Pasig River Ferry. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It was nice and measuring from the 200 shots I got from it spelled a lot of subjects. It's a breather from those long walks we had but I'm currently burnt right now. Or shall I say Crispy?! LOL

I went out with friends to Malate. Its been a long time since I went there. The place has indeed changed. Lots of other establishments popping up offering the same old service. I miss the old days... but that doesn't mean I'm old okay?! Clear?!

I got my Eheads collectible now. Paid a hefty sum for it but its darn well worth it! I am the envy of my friends now hahaha!

I see some Christmas decors being put up as early as now. Weird but this is the Philippines after all. If there was somewhere that earlier celebrated Christmas it would probably be Bethlehem hahaha.

There are several dead in a bus again in India. They were shot point blank. Now where are those commentators who thought it was just an isolated incident, aren't they going to see this as an international situation?! See what I mean?!

Today, I'm happy but a little bit wee sad. I don't know why but I think it is related to my past rants. I bet it'll be over once I get some sleep. No headache yet and I think I'm good.

I didn't go to gym today, I need lots of sleep and probably go there tomorrow. I'm trying to run at constant pace for at least 5 kilometers because I plan to run a marathon haha! I know I'm laughing with you. =P

ERASERHEADS The Heads Set

If you followed what I have been writing since time in memorial, you probably know how dead serious I am being fanatic with my idols the ERASERHEADS. I don't understand myself sometimes too but you know that feeling of nostalgia when you see someone you idolize?! Mine's like a hundred times magnified than that. What I like about this experience is that I get to reminisce all the music I love in my genre. It represented who I am culturally. Deep huh?! Haha! I know... its kinda weird but it is what it is.

I did go out with a bang in the 90's. I was with a band, it was called Infinite Pulcer. Pulcer is latin for things that are beautiful, beauteous, fair or handsome. So now you know where we fall LOL. We did a few gigs. That's the cool way to say it. I composed some songs, my friends did too. I sang backup on some of em heheh. Our sound was more of a pop rock thingy. You can differentiate our sound from other noisy ones at that time. We were mostly goodlooking guys LOL this is my site after all so live with it! Hahahaha!

So here you go, I need to do this so my friends would envy me haha! It did cost a lot but its well worth it. I'm going to get is signed too once they go back to Eastwood for a gig. Enjoy!

Something Cosmic

I admit I haven't been listening that much to radio programs or mp3's in the last few months. You know how busy we all are! But I have been pretty much disturbed on Bruno Mars being number one on RX93.1 since a couple of weeks ago. I don't know who he is or what he looks like I thought it was someone that bares the second coming of lady gaga since his name sounds so cosmic.... (Get it? Mars?! LOL) well I was wrong... I played his video and got hooked to it. I said to myself ahhhhh.... sooo.... this is the think they were playing on clubs. I didn't know they mixed it up hehehe. Anyway, I get him... I got the message of his song. This one in particular is awesome.. lighting, positioning and timing of the shot was great. I hope those flare thingys are true and not computer generated heheh.

I think now is the time to download the latest songs. I'm right now in the process of bribing someone in the local pizza place to get me one of these.


Yeah I know. I would kill to get me one of these and they ran out of it so I'm kinda reserving one for myself via that guy in the pizza place. I would pay more than what it costs just so I get one. I am unfortunately dead serious. I'll take every process or magical whisks of a wand just to get one! Don't even stand in my way because by hook or by crook this will be mine! Buwahahah!

Online Petition: ERASERHEADS DVD!

I want to share to you guys an online petition and the reason why the DVD for the ERASERHEADS FINAL SET has not been released. Apparently it has something to do with SMART Communications inability to let go of the finances they want so eagerly from this. They want a share of the loot as so they may say and chances are they would not release it at all. Do they know how rampant the sales of the pirated version is? If you walk the streets of Quiapo you will definitely find on or more of these things and it is a best seller apart from the usual blockbuster movies that are recently released. They are continuing to lose money because the longer that they keep these to themselves, the more people are gonna buy the pirated copy. If it were up to me I would immediately issue the DVD together with other behind the scene shots and interviews so these pirates would all drag their feet and not sell those anymore.

It would be also nice if they get some shots of the first concert on it too and the whole news story about how the second one came about. I think I'm thinking aloud but it is right to do this. I would like you my readers to know that there is an online petition that you should share with your co eraserheads fans. It is available here. Click this.

ERASERHEADS "The Final Set" CONCERT March 7, 2009

It was NOSTALGIA... that is one word I could describe what happened that day. It was perfect for me, a crazed Eraserheads fan that already put them on a pedestal because I adored them so much. They were god like for me...(pardon sounding blasphemous) but OMG it was all I ever asked for in one sitting.

We started the day meeting at Starbucks MOA...it was a hot Saturday afternoon and as people would always see...its lotsa traffic. I met Arpee and Bheng (mah officemates) then Gian and Leo came too. I was dragging my foot along because I got my ankle sprained a few days ago. I was even limping yesterday for entertainment purposes (magaling ako umarte) wahahhaha. But MY GAD HIGAD it was painful and that was not even half of it. I ordered Mango Passionfruit as always then cooled off a little, then we headed to the MOA Concert Grounds. We walked there so it was a daunting task for my foot hehe... At 4PM, throngs of fans already lined up and guards, bouncers and epals were there to greet them. Security was tight since they did not allow water bottles, food, professional cameras, unattended kids, hookers, GRO's (weh sayang!). I was told there was food inside the venue, little did I know I was in for a surprise. I didn't know how inconvenient it was to eat there. Since we were there for hours, we needed to do that. I bought double cheeseburger from McDonalds but they returned my money because they didn't have it yet. I opted for 2 cheeseburgers instead. I was looking for something to drink and there was a Coca Cola booth beside that, when I paid up they immediately put my Orange Juice in a plastic cup, it didn't even have a cover! Now imagine how am I going to keep that drink alive until the concert when people could literally nudge my arms and spill that all over others? What's more appalling is the thought of them not giving away the bottles... have you seen anyone die of a plastic bottle? unless they know how to swallow and put rocks on em there probably would be...Go figure!

Aside from that, we say along the rails and boundary of the Silver A area together with Gian's friends from philmusic.com and talked about what to expect in the concert. As funny as it sounds, we needed to do that for a couple of hours since we were there early to get the best seats. I was annoyed at a few kids beside me who went there with their Mom I think. I mean, if you can't handle your 3 kids why the hell should she bring em there right? They were the first ones I saw that smelled like ARAW even if it was already 6PM... I despise the place for being filthy. Why in the world don't we have a place that could seat a lot of people... we need one for big concerts like that. Good thing we were by the bay... at least there was a breeze coming in every few minutes, otherwise we all would have suffocated from human scent. You know what I mean? c^^,)

So the day became night and it became darker by the minute. We watched the lights go up, while some literally blinded us on purpose. At about 6 or 7 PM a girl suddenly wanted to make her way to the front and make SINGIT... she didn't even asked permission from the people who already were there. I was making nasty jokes about her already but she stood ground as if she never heard anything. She even looked at me evily as if she thinks I'd never tell her about it. Hahah.. I dared her to look at me again that way but she didn't.... I could have been the next Chris Brown because aside from my hurting ankle..she was freakin annoying me too. Good thing she fell short of what she planned to do and went away from our position... people even clapped and laughed about it hahaha. Weird...but I still hate that girl heheh... How I wished I could smash somebody's face on the rails! After those annoying incidents, at about 7PM a fireworks display erupted at our back...people thought it was for the event but I know MOA does that every Saturday before the mall closes. Aside from that, people were already waiting for the big event!

8PM struck and there was no countdown no nothing that happened, they were late obviously.... so after a few more minutes of waiting, 4 VJ's from MTV arrived. People were waiting too long to listen to them.... almost everybody boooed them....hahaha there were hecklers everywhere... I on the other hand was cracking jokes because I was bored and tired waiting of course! I was also anticipating some kind of countdown before they start... but that did not happen at 8PM... we waited a while until the video started. OMG this is it...the event that I was waiting for... wait... it was not counting down minutes or seconds.... it was the alphabet backwards!

Everybody chanted Z Y X W V U T S R Q P O N M L K J I H G F then an inverted E *lightbolts sound* then the music started....and the first song? It was "MAGASIN"... I thought they were gonna sing OVERDRIVE but that came in on the second set I guess... Here is the rest of the set list:

It was nice! I felt everything fell into place and I was in heaven! All the tiredness and my hurting feet was gone (of course not! hehe) I was just starstruck by them. The band that I waited for a long time was just a few steps from where I am. Oh! What a night! The 2nd Set came in and lo and behold they came in with a whole SALA SET... they were all there while Ely introduced us to their new BAHAY... heheh... then they played everything in acoustic....MTV unplugged style!

Not a single person left the concert grounds after Ely thanked the crowed. We were all so bitin we were waiting for what comes next after that spectacular idea of having everything performed in an unplugged version. I'm sure with Marcus and Raimund singing a few songs on their own, Ely has indeed rested to rap this particular concert up! I was not disappointed!

The encore was about Filipino king of Rap Francis M. so Ely even asked everyone to raise their hands... and clap... and jump for this great man who opened an era of Rap music for a country who hungered for it.

Sparks flew at our back and a lot more fireworks were lit at the stage. There was enormous amount of confetti on front for everyone to see that this setup was not just for local consumption. By golly the whole place was filled with confetti that parts of the stage was covered literally we can't even see em anymore. It was a very nice cheesy way of ending everything. After everything ended... Ely went to the stage's center and poured a healthy amount of lighter fluid on the PIANO from the STICKERHAPPY album. I was so sad to see that musical instrument burning at the stake and Ely even kicking it literally breaking each piece as it collapses to the ground. The end of a beautiful foursome years just flashed right in front of me. I was struck by the fact that everything will end here.... yes I was so sad to have to end it that way... but like any story... theirs had to end too.

Ely Raimund Marcus and Buddy then succumbed to everyone's request for a group hug.... and a group BOW too... It ended with Ely stating "Ladies and gentlemen, we are THE ERASERHEADS!". Then he threw his shoes when they went out... and almost his socks too.... I would have scrambled for that too hahaah!

Everyody went on their way out.... of course it took a few minutes before they could do that.... until somebody spoke on the mic stating "Hoy.... ano? Nabititin ba kayo?" and I said WHOA! HINDI PA TAPOS! Everybody was surprised and went back to the venue... some of them were literally outside already... they had to go back because as Ely said it.... THIS IS 3 FOR THE ROAD!

I as a true fan would never end my dream... that someday, somehow, someway.... I'll still get the chance to watch THE ERASERHEADS once more.

ERASERHEADS : THE LAST SET!

I've never been so excited in my entire life! Raymund, Buddy, Marcus and Ely is back for the Last Set of their shortened show in the Fort last December. On March 7, 2009, will they be ending all my hopes and dreams of seeing the ERASERHEADS making music once again.

A lot of things were not played last time because the concert was cut short with Ely's health condition. This time I'd like to see em prepared and without a doubt to finish what they started.

People like you shouldn't go to concerts like this just because your in the IN crowd for crying out loud! I'll bring a better camera phone to get em videos published in youtube or here in my website. My IDOLS back in business! Francis M back after being diagnosed with Leukemia and Ely back after a heart attack... now that gave me a heart attack too! ^_^


If you missed watching Eat Bulaga last October 25, 2008... you missed half of your life! After a few months rest and the arduous spells brought by the ERASERHEADS concert that stopped half way. This rated so high according to AGB Nielsen among Metro Manila households... a whopping 25.5% and rated the highest for that day. I mean who would ever wouldn't watch his comeback together with Francis M blurting out Superproxy. This one thing made my day. It even made me smile a couple of times while I was in the office. My idol is now out of the hospital! Weeeee!

I am ecstatic! Yesterday when I watched a couple of local showbiz shows in you know where they reported that Ely is out and fine! ^_^ Weeeeeeeee!!!! Now the heavy process of not working and resting for 2 whole months is needed to recuperate from the angioplasty (that was a lil hard to pronounce!) surgery he got from Heart Center ^_^

Things are looking great from hereon... he just needs to get his medicine and checkups in tact so it won't happen again... of course the 2 month vacation is not that bad!

Now we wait until ERASERHEADS (his former band) would perform part II of the much awaited REUNION concert.... Ain't that a nice thing to know!? ^_^

Ely Buendia undergoes ANGIOPLASTY

Surgery again was done to my hero Ely Buendia

The manager of Ely Buendia confirmed Monday that the former Eraserheads frontman underwent another angioplasty procedure Monday morning following the band's Saturday reunion concert that was cut short by his hospitalization.

Buendia suffered from hypokalemia, a medical condition in which the concentration of potassium in the blood is low. He was administered with a potassium intravenous fluid for the said condition, they added.

Buendia, 37, had a previous heart attack in January 2007. He previously underwent two angioplasty procedures (a surgical operation where narrowed or blocked arteries are widened) at the Philippine Heart Center after doctors found at least two blockages in his arteries.

The Eraserheads, formed in the late 1980s, was the most successful Filipino band of the 1990s, and is widely credited for reviving the Filipino band scene. I on the other hand know they are the reason bands and the music scene is alive in the Philippines!

They broke up in 2002, but the members are still active in different bands.

Guy's I ask you to pray for my idol, my hero Ely Buendia! Thank you for keeping him safe God!

“He had a slight attack because of stress due to the recent passing of his mother (Lisette Buendia), and their sound check which lasted till 3 a.m. today (Saturday),” said MTV Philippines and Radiohead director for marketing Ronald Esguerra “But we have received word that Ely is now in stable condition.”

My hero Ely Buendia suffered a heart attack on January 7, 2007 and had already undergone surgery.The concert, which was staged at the Fort Bonifacio Global City open field in Taguig, started at around 8:15 p.m. and paused for a break at around 9:30 p.m. The Eraserheads opened their much-awaited reunion concert with “Alapaap” and “Ligaya,” complete with fireworks display that bested even WWE!.After waiting at the open field for an hour since the intermission hoping for further developments, loyal fans of the band calmly left the concert area after being treated to a thrilling first set.I was touched by the fact that the fans did not clamour for the concert's continuance but understood that Ely has to be safe.

MTV Philippines’ Esguerra said that while he is hoping for a second Eraserheads reunion concert, there is still no word on whether another one would be staged.
“We have received no word of a Part Two but we also hope there will be one,” he said.
