IKEA Philippines Officially Opens Online Store

Sunday, November 07, 2021

We all thought it was going to be too long before IKEA opens in the Philippines, but here they go over delivering with their promise to bring scandi items into the homes of Filipinos today. See, they official online store of IKEA is now open.

Georg Platzer, Store Manager of IKEA Pasay City says "We have just concluded limited test runs the past few weeks, and today, we're glad to say they we will be officially accessible to more pinoys. We will be part of the lives of a lot of folks in the Philippines who's dream would be a better life at home. We're officially opening our online store today!"

IKEA also learned a lot from the shopping habits of Filipinos as the test run showed the need for more home storage and work space items. They also have sold lots of home decors like alarm clocks, wall clocks and artificial potted plants. Aside from that, there's children's items like the soft toys, storage boxes and the play kitchen sold quite regularly. If you would want to purchase some of these items, you have to make an IKEA website account (different from the IKEA Family Account membership) which I too have registered with previously. They accept payments via major credit cards, GCash and installment with BDO.

IKEA also ships fast, as I've seen some of my friends got their products the day after. It can by delivered via truck, parcel and click and collect (where you're just gonna pick it up in the store after ordering online). If it's 30KG and up, that's going to be considered a truck delivery so make sure you're guided before you choose and checkout. Truck deliveries right now only are in Metro Manila, parcels can reach up to other parts til Quezon down south (Lucena) and Subic up north.

Best of all, the store is operating 24/7 so you can get the best IKEA products while everyone is sleeping. You may see the whole line at IKEA.ph.

You've Got to See the IKEA Festival

Thursday, September 16, 2021

In the coming weeks, you'll see a lot of IKEA popup displays as part of IKEA Festival. They're all raring to go open later but before that, they're making you see some of the pieces that they have inside the store displayed in a mock home, wherein you can sit on the chair, touch the table, go through the kitchen, play with children in these spaces. They'll be rolling out more in the next few months so you've got to see them all!

Ms. Aileen Prodigalidad of IKEA says "If you don't know how to cook, you can learn a lot about things here. Gamers also will have so much fun with the IKEA Gaming Range. The IKEA Festival will be opening the store for us, this will be through the IKEA Museum. You will travel back in time and see how the pieces came together."

The POP UP Store in Mall of Asia currently isn't selling the pieces, it's more of an inspiration so when you see the IKEA store open soon, you already have an idea what to get. It's like a real home, so you see everything in place, even the small knickknacks on the cupboard if you are looking for kitchen stuff.

If you want to join the IKEA FESTIVAL, just head on to the official website for the event ikea.com/festival and just click on start watching, there are different rooms in the festival. If you want cooking, design, gaming, there are specific rooms for you. They also have topics for sustainability which you can learn more about in the site.

Can't wait for the store opening, but for the meantime, this will do!

The CREST Loft Bed by Home Suite

Thursday, September 09, 2021

It's been a while since I've featured something by Home Suite, but this one is actually a nice thing to show you especially if you're in a room with small square footage. If you're working or studying, chances are, you're going to spend hours on an office chair, an office table, but you're still figuring out how to do it when you've got no space. Well, you don't have to ask a magician to make one because there exists a "CREST Loft Bed". This is made by Home Suite which has all gotten their products in major malls nationwide.

It's a space saving solution for those who need to study, work and sleep in a small space without feeling cramped or unsafe. It's made of steel frames, pretty smooth and stable. They also got this powder coated so it doesn't corrode or chip when accidents happen. It can also be cleaned easy, has space for shelves so you can put your knick knacks or books on top and some lighting on the side. It also has side lining with pouches so you can store gadgets and other stuff when you need to.  It's also easy to assemble, doesn't take a genius, simple and sturdy.

Filipino craftsmanship done right, reasonably priced, I want this for myself no joke! If you want one, call +632 8-361-1127 / 8-546-0563 from 9AM to 5PM Mondays to Saturdays. Else, you can visit leading malls where they are also displayed.

See IKEA's Life at Home

Saturday, April 24, 2021

What does your home look like? What do you think your home needs in order to make it better? How do you live your life at home?

As you know, IKEA is set to open its doors in Pasay City soon. But before that, IKEA wants to know these too so that they would be able to bring modern furniture design that could help Filipinos thrive at home. This helps them understand what we need so they made the effort to talk to several locals who will benefit with IKEA opening at the SM Mall of Asia grounds soon. It's why they had the Life at Home series launched in their official Facebook page recently.

They now know that eating and sleeping is pretty much cookie cutter but there are really stark differences when it comes to culture because we're very sentimental, and always have extended family at home. Your grandma for instance play a role in the lives of everyone in the family, which is not common for other EU or US households and they talked to Filipinos about it.

Georg Platzer the Store Manager of IKEA Pasay City says "The four dimensions that help us define home are: the people we live with, the things we own, the amount of space we have and the place we live in. Home is a feeling. This fascination helps us to better understand people’s needs, dreams, and challenges, especially for the new markets we enter like the Philippines."

If you want to know more about how they did it, check out the videos here and their website. You would learn a lot how IKEA studies are conducted in the Philippines.

The Launch of CAL the Brand

Monday, December 21, 2020

Stepping out of the shadows of proud mom Dimples Romana and dad Boyet Ahmee is daughter Callie as she now embarks on launching a new business venture called CAL THE BRAND.

She's only 17, and yes, she initially had challenges taking this idea off since she had to source materials for it. She built, learned the ropes and did this from the ground up. She burned the midnight oil learning about the business and started quite early with her fascination of Rattan bags. She ultimately wanted to support local artisans who mostly made these pieces by hand. She now wants these to reach a younger audience, who like her, would have love for aesthetic that is same as hers, which is all locally made and sourced.

As a person who has been working in fashion shows, photography stints who has probably seen lots of these, I could say what she's getting out in the market is SUPER nice. Sans her age, maturity, she sees things quite clearly curating each piece from local artisans. I am very impressed about how she was able to put this up in such a short time too.

Callie says "A few years from now, I hope to see more people with products from Cal. I want to see them wearing and using them proudly because they know how good it is, and how it is made proudly local. I hope Cal would make more individuals be inclined to support local artisans and promote them more here and abroad!"

She adds "Thank you for taking time out and joining me in supporting local brands, I hope this influences people and the communities that are being helped, from fashion items, furniture, to support our local artisans. Thank you!"

Here's our talk yesterday

There's a lot to see in her Instagram account where you can also order the items. She's planning a few things after this particular launch, like clothing, furniture, some things she's going to be proudly coming out real soon. Take a breather and look at how good the items are in her store here https://www.instagram.com/calthebrand as CAL The Brand starts their journey.

Bayani Agbayani Endorses HOME SUITE

Monday, September 02, 2019

Got to visit the warehouse of Home Suite, a brand under CLC Marketing Ventures. Their showroom suddenly felt like an invitation to their home as we legitimately sat in their tables, chairs, even couches that have bluetooth speakers on them.

Charles Lester Ching the COO of Home Suite says “For the first time this year we invited you here at CLC Manufacturing Ventures, we have five brands under our corporation. We are excited to introduce Mr. Bayani Agbayani as the endorser of our brand. His good looks, humor, we will show you in the next few months our products, to hopefully be in the homes of more Filipinos. Thank you for being here in Home Suite.”

Bayani just like the corporation has worked hard over the years, and as they plan to launch their operations internationally, they are proud to say they have the heart to achieve it. If you think you’ve seen these pieces before, it might be because they have it in the set of Pinoy Big Brother, Rated K (remember that episode of the woman who had many kids?), Wish Ko Lang and various charitable institutions and programs.

Lyn Fong their Marketing Head says “As you have seen, CLC has been in the country for 37 years. We have been very conservative but we know we have to embrace what you can do. We have also launched a program for bedroom and room makeovers where we picked 3 winners and also the VisMin Raffle Promo. We have done these in celebration of our milestones, and a way to thank our loyal customers. We also have our digital short films called YANWICK which will be released in our social media assets. We hope you watch out for that. We will have a Bayanihan campaign in all our participating branches, he will have posters, a billboard, delivery trucks. He will be everywhere!”

CEO Charlie Ching says “Thank you to everyone for coming here, thanks to our superstar, actor Bayani Agbayani, and our marketing team for making this all possible.”

Bayani was so thankful saying “Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. Thank you Mr Ching. There have been a lot of communities that Home Suite has helped over the years and they have done this for a lot of Filipinos. When I asked them why me, they said no choice (he kids). They want people to know that these are Philippine made products that can stand out in the international market. They have done a lot, even some last a lifetime, even if you are not here the furnitures will still be there. Thank the lord, this has been given to me by Jesus. I met him in the gym, not knowing he wanted me to endorse his products, I am sincerely blessed and thankful. I thought they didn’t need me because they have been here for 37 years, now hopefully I would be able to do a lot of their advocacies. They want to do more of that in the coming years. In the past I have been helping a lot of patients who have cancer. I wish to help them further. I only wished for them to pray for me, and my family’s health. The concept of Yanwick came from them, I didn’t know who he was but they asked me to read about it. I hope you could see it on Facebook.”

Now that you’ve seen the manufacturer of these pieces, isn’t it about time you check out more Home Suite furnitures and how they have been able to satisfy customers here and around the globe? Might as well check Bayani Agbayani’s YanWick videos too while you’re at it. I think I’m buying those shelves I’ve been eyeing in the popular department store. You should get some too!

Dunlopillo at the Ital Design Showroom

Saturday, July 18, 2015

It was an interesting afternoon at the Ital design center in BGC's Home Depot - Taguig. We were there for the partnership of Dunlopillo and Ital Design as they made the whole showroom a hodgepodge of different mattresses used in different interiors. They also talked about a necessary thing to do when at home, like sleep, and everybody spends almost half their life on it. It makes sense, it makes absolute sense why people should invest in a great mattress so we could get comfortable sleep after a hard days work.

The mattresses are intricately engineered to do just that. It's a legacy that Dunlopillo has taken cared of all throughout the years. The mattresses have latex materials, of which is thought to be the best in the world. Aside from that, they've got unparalleled support and quality that even gets you your own space in a single mattress. Would you believe that their springs are designed so your partners could get uninterrupted sleep? Add to that breathability, temperature control and less bacteria, how can you not love a Dunlopillo mattress right?

Check out our video of the display over MC Home Depot in BGC:

Now, people can simply go to the Ital Design Depot at Home Depot in BGC if they want to check out Dunlopillo's products. Aside from that, Dunlopillo has showrooms in Libis, Edsa Cubao, MC Home Depot in Pasig, Ayala Center Cebu aand Abreeza Mall Davao.

Pampanga: Betis Church

Monday, November 18, 2013

The travel from Clark in Angeles Pampanga to Betis Church was a long ride. It took us around an hour or two if I'm not mistaken. We traveled on the sides of Pampanga's very own Mega Dike which was made to save several towns from lahar and pyroplastic flows during the Mount Pinatubo eruption in the 90's.

The government spent millions on this project and I guess it served its purpose.

Arriving at the Betis Churchbwe were greeted by a really neat facade which dates up to the year 1700.

This is one of two churches in the Philippines that still have hard wood flooring. Most churches have cement or marble.

Outside the church, they have several structures all made for their patron saints and for a miraculous fountain which is a little dirty now.

I wasn't really prepared to see what was inside, but I'm telling you... It was really breathtaking!

This is Jesus ascending into heaven, it was at the center of the church ceiling.

The church was a mix if rustic, shabby chic. It was restored in the 60's so you can really see the details above.

The central part where the priest officiates the mass was equally gorgeous. It was full of cherubs, saints and a couple of angels here and there.

The altar had a multitude of hand carved saints showing how much this area has grown to be the furniture capital of Luzon. It might even have Cebu a run for its money.

On the left side of the church is this mural of Christ and Mama Mary when he was brought down from the cross.

On the right side, they had a portrait of the holy family. I must say I have visited Betis Church before but I've never seen it this close or paid attention that much. There are also a few more statues outside that you should see. Thanks to the City Government of San Fernando and Association of Travel Agencies in Pampanga (ATAP) for arranging our trip. This part was definitely awesome.

More updates in a bit!
