An Actor's Actor: KHALIL RAMOS Wins Best Actor Award for Olsen's Day

Saying Khalil Ramos is on a roll is an understatement this first quarter of 2025. For starters, he was given the Puregold Cinepanalo Film festival's BEST ACTOR award for the film Olsen's Day, a film directed by JP Habac (who also won as the Best Director). I've had the the impression of him being an "actor's actor", someone who's been able to do it successfully.  

His stellar filmography, unquestionable knack for doing acting pieces, have taken the nod of film critics. The chance to talk to him today was certainly, an opportunity to pick his brain a little. He was capable, even impressed us by the way he answered questions. It felt he was on his toes the whole time, very eloquent, albeit being a semi-introvert.  

Winning this award doesn't mean he's going to be picky, he's always about the script, about the craft, and when asked, he didn't even expect this at all. He says "I don't think about it being a competition at all, even though it is a festival. This was something very personal for the Director JP Habac, and it's a big thing to be trusted with this kind of material. I felt my duties as an actor became bigger because of it. You want to tell this story the way he wanted it to. The process had to be more open when we made Olsen's Day. I was already happy that Direk JP was happy about my performance, but during the awards night, a few of us were only there. We were there to celebrate with everyone. Then I won, and even Direk JP Habac won too, so we were just ecstatic. This goes to show that when you pour your heart into the story, a lot of people would connect and relate to it." 

Rest certainly is a luxury for both Khalil and Gabbi. Khalil was working on three platforms at the same time. Aside from Olsen's Day, he was doing a Neflix series called "How to Cheat Death" with Gabbi, and "One Hit Wonder" with Sue Ramirez on the same platform. He's also in the 9 Works Theatrical production of "Liwanag Sa Dilim" as Elesi, a very interesting character trying to find his roots. He felt it was 2023 all over again because yes, he did a lot tooo during those times in different mediums.

He feels energized as an artist that he could do all these roles, working with different people, saying he loves what he's doing, tired but definitely fulfilled in artistry and passion. Here's our interview with him this afternoon:

If he feels he resonates with the character and the script, he would do it no matter how big or small the production is. If he likes the story, that gets precedence over other things. His schedule is super packed for sure that he had to decline a few opportunities, that's the only time he needs to decide.  He was doing three characters in one week (in January), which was crazy but did it by studying characters individually saying "At a certain point, you have to be as real as possible in your pursuit with the film. Sometimes your body doesn't know you're already doing it. You're commanding it, and your body just follows. If it's tired, then you've got to pull other tricks in the bag to finish it. I need to find another technique to be more effective. Your co actors especially in Liwanag Sa Dilim will influence your performance, and they've all been a breeze to work with."

 Khalil is still in "Liwanag Sa Dilim" at the RCBC theater til April 13th, and watch out for "How to Cheat Death" on Netfilx this April 2. "One Hit Wonder" will premiere around May. Khalil is just starting, I bet he's bound for more accolades with Olsen's Day as they plan to also put it in streaming platforms soon.

 

KHALIL RAMOS Does Exceptionally Well at Puregold Cinepanalo Entry OLSEN'S DAY

Fast review!

This is my first day of watching the Puregold Cinepanalo Festival and saw a couple of films. One is an PG flick by Director JP Habac called "Olsen's Day" starring the good looking Khalil Ramos. 

It's a family film, much of which was just him and an elderly Mom suffering from dementia. There are problems in the world, but much of them were with him (it felt like that). The film shows the complexities of work, his life, and fate. The cast includes Romnick Sarmienta, who meets Khalil's character Olsen and had them along for a ride to Manila.

This trip would change his life, his outlook on so many things, including his situation as a son, as a person, and realize how love, for family can be sufficient no matter what the odds are. It also talks a whole lot about forgiveness.

Khalil's exceptional performance in this film might well cause him getting a nomination for Best Actor. It's very intricate, subtle, you could hear him sigh, flood you in his eyes that speak. 

He knows his craft, and he is so good at it. Go watch Olsen's Day at the Gateway 2 Mall Cineplex as part of the Puregold Cinepanalo Festival.

Sparkle Artists Shine at SIGNED FOR STARDOM 2023

One of the most awaited events in the country happened at the GMA Studios a couple days ago. This is "Signed for Stardom 2023" hosted by GMA's Sparkle Artist Center, and we loved seeing those who have stayed and renewed ties with the Kapuso network and its affiliates. The contract signing event also included performances from the network's stars, singers, spiels from their host influencers and appearances from their homegrown character actors which we love seeing in their various series and shows on GMA.

All in all, there were over 48 artists who got singned again, plus a few who got renewed and retained their management contracts with Sparkle. The event was hosted by Martin Javier, Rain Matienzo and guests were welcomed by GMA Netowrk's very own Chairman and CEO Attorney Felipe L. Gozon.

In the event, young GMA stars Siena Stevens, Will Ashley, Bruce Roeland, Matthew Uy, Angel Leighton, AZ Martinez, Yvette Sanchez and Shuveee Etrata got on stage in their best gowns and suits. Seeing them doing good in different GMA shows, endorsements and projects just mean they're reaping the fruits of their labor, working hard especially in honing their talents with the premier talent management company.

From champion singers, international performers and PPOP sensations, GMA is home to the most talented singers this country has ever produced. Liana Castillo, John Rex, Timmy Albert, Vianna Ricafranca, powerful Hannah Precillas, Jessica Villarubin and Guam theater star Garrett Bolden plus XOXO's Riel, Mel, Lyra and Dani went up the stage and performed several hits LIVE at the event. It proved all the more that the Filipino is world class!

Host and Influencers who are going to be part of the various planned lifestyle shows on GMA include Janeena Chan, MH Ordinllano, Maureen Schrijvers, Asnley Yap and Mica Salamanca.

Signed talented actors like Martin Del Rosario, Ashley Rivera, Kristoffer Martin, Paul Salas, Ms. Amy Austria, Maricar de Mesa, Archie Alemania and Nadine Samonte also signed with Sparkle together with already established Sparkle artists Andrea Torres, Andre Paras, Arra San Agustin, Shaira Diaz, beauty queen Celeste Cortesi, Mike Tan, Rita Daniela, Rocco Nacino, Khalil Ramos, twins Mavy and Cassy Legaspi, plus Richard Yap, Paolo Contis, Lolong lead star Ruru Madrid and popular pair "BarDa's" Barbie Forteza and David Licauco also joined the signing activity.

This is just the start of even more things to come for Sparkle and their artists. The event was also witnessed by GMA Executives SVP Attorney Anette Gozon-Valdes, Sparkle's VP Joy Marcelo. Ashley Ortega and Khalil Ramos Talk About Professionalism On Screen and Real Relationships

 

It's been a while since we talked to Khalil Ramos and Ashley Ortega. I interviewed them in different projects and yes, it's high time they get together in a project, and in this instance, it's Cinemalaya. Their entry this year is called "As If It's True", directed by John Rogers under the great folks of The IdeaFirst Company.

It's much of a Gen Z story where social media, content creation, influencer marketing is the name of the game. A relationship brews between Gemma Watson and James (a struggling musician). As Khalil mentions, it discusses relationships  and those that can be shown as real, or happening just for clout and exploitation.

This is certainly exciting for Ashley Ortega's career as she just came off the highly successful series "Hearts on Ice" which she did with Xian Lim. Though she feels a lot of pressure to do better, she's optimistic to do a project with Khalil since Gabbi and Ashley pretty much started in showbiz at the same time. They've been friends for a while which she feels would be advantageous for the things they would need to do in the film. There will be some sort of a romantic flick ingredient here ala "American Pie" but it'll be different, a little depressing at situations; quite different and will be in a Filipino setting. Khalil will also be starring in "Tick Tick Boom" under 9 Works Theatrical Production. This is his debut in theatre, and has been a learning experience for him because things are being done differently. He was matched with the role of Jon because of his very artistic vibe. Show happens August 5-27 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium - RCBC Theater. 

These are just some of the awesome achievements of Sparkle artists Khalil and Ashley, but I'm sure there will be more. If you already enjoyed their previous shows, movies and projects, it'll be a good thing to consume this new movie and theatre project from the two. I'm quite optimistic about what's happening with Ashley since this is pretty much, her second serving of a lead role. Khalil on the other hand has also been very busy with projects (and really thankful for it). When I asked about getting some negative opinions online, he also hopes his situation with Gabbi would be a good measure of what should happen when an actor has a real relationship while being paired with other actors on screen. Strictly professional.

Spent the evening with some of GMA's brightest stars as they talk about the huge change that happened with GMA Artist Center, they now call it SPARKLE. This was launched during the Kapuso Countdown which is their annual new year's celebration. Today, Mr. M chose a handful of them so we could get to know them more.

Sanya Lopez says "Of course when Sparkle leveled up, I'm more excited to also level up our talents. The name might have changed, but we continue to grow, they will be there to guide us all. It's a little nerve wracking, but I hope I get to work with the others because I've only worked with Gab, Ruru and Derrick. For me, I believe if you are a good person, that's already a Sparkle. Your attitude, your being humble, you feel that grow through other people because you have a good heart. For me, First Yaya I feel made me Sparkle the most.


Miguel Tanfelix on the other hand adds "If I would say something to my younger self, I won't spoil anything. I'll just say you're doing good. Being part of this will make it better, they're there to guide us to work on our craft and to constantly push us. They will drive us to even better things. I want to also work in a film with Khalil, I really learned a lot during our talks off cam. I am grateful and excited. I feel people forget what we do, but if you do it wholeheartedly with the right intentions, you'll inspire people."

Ysabel Ortega says "We're working hard to level up ourselves, super excited to be part of this family. They will make us level up as well, to meet that standard, to work hard, inspired and motivated. I have only worked with Miguel, so seeing them here I want to work with them all."

Good looking man Khalil Ramos adds "Put all your money in bitcoin. I'll tell my younger self to brace for the ride of your life, to look at your beginnings and spend more time with family. In this evolving industry, it's nice to have a team with Sparkle, they believe with I do and the skills I posess. In terms of work, I now have a lot of people to work with. I look forward to have a productive year with Sparkle. The one I have only worked in this group is Gabbi, hopefully that will change and perhaps create content one day, we have a lot of things to do.

Bianca Umali says "To all the dreamers, we all want you to know that anything is possible. This is a milestone for all of us, we have our own paths, but they're not here to change, but to lay more roads and have more discoveries which we cannot do alone. I have nothing but a grateful heart, I want to work my compatriots here because I've only had work with Miguel and Derrick, so it's going to be a nice opportunity to do that now. Aside form Mano Po, I have a series with HBO, hopefully to premiere this year so I hope people watch that. I'll also have a soap by the end of the year, and I've launched my own YouTube channel so I can share more of myself with everyone. I hope I get to work with Ruru."

Gabbi Garcia shares what she feels sand says "I'm excited to see more collaborative work. Us 8 we are pretty close off cam and I'm excited to grow this year! They give us the right direction and I am blessed to be part of this group. I am grateful for my team for trusting me, it's a big deal, I want to work more with them in a show, I haven't worked with Miguel, Bianca and Ysabel. I've known them for years, but haven't had the chance to do that, hopefully this year. Encantadia for me was where I sparkled the most, because I was the youngest there. After that, I was stronger, a lot better because I learned from them."

Ruru Madrid says "If there's something that I would say to my younger self, is to never stop dreaming. Even if you fail, you'll get there, you'll never stop learning. It's just a challenge and you'll appreciate it more when you get it. It's a challenge for all of us, because it's  a huge thing to trust us with this. We need to give our 100 percent in inspiring more people, entertain them, and give us the challenge to step up. The ones here are very talented in their respective shows, it's a big thing to be here, it's a challenge to prove myself, I want to explore more with the projects that I accept and I'm sure with Sparkle it'll happen. I haven't worked with Bianca, Khalil and Ysabel, I am excited if we could do that, it'll be something fun. Lolong is a really hard project, I have prepared for that a lot. I made my YouTube channel a venue to talk to my co actors, to learn from their hardships and struggles, to put up businesses, to inspire people. Hopefully I'd be able to work with Bianca because she's very talented, very professional and I'd like to learn from her too. It's a challenge for all of us to leave something for people who watch our shows, I want to show something different everyday. I don't want to stop learning, to only live with what I have, I want to give inspiration to others and even other artists of Sparkle. I was initially shocked about being part of this project, for me, I just want to bring back their trust, to work harder, there are a lot more good looking people out their but they gave us their trust."

Derrick Monasterio says "This is just the start for us. All I know is that I'm here to improve, and hopefully it will show in my new projects and movies. I have almost worked with all of them except Khalil and Ysabel, hopefully it'll be easy now to do that in one show, soon. Calling someone by their name, it impacts them, it's something personal, smile at them, these simple ways can make their day change, and it'll be something that could also benefit us in the future. I was driving earlier when I found out that I'm part of Sparkle 8 and I thank the Lord that he gave me strength to be part of this. Hope we flourish in our own little ways."

Mr. M "Get a nice light and put lot of shiny things on you (he kids), you have to do more work, you have to make it shine. We want to rebrand Artist Center and give it a face lift, give it more vigor, make it younger and better. It was already good, but we just want to be more with these artists. We're raring to have more quality work, I suggested it a couple of months ago and Lorenz Tan came up with the name. When I look at someone, I see a spark, you see the garbo, and it's something special, you just feel it when you see someone. After a while you get to know their work, their passion, their commitment and discipline, like these 8 guys and gals, even then I've seen how they have grown in GMA. I've seen that in Dingdong Dantes and Alden Richards. These days, you need to have something in them that make them love their profession. These young men and ladies are just the start, we want to revitalize Artist Center and I think Sparkle just does that. It embodies that change, you can expect a better quality of work from these artists and this system that we work will have them in rigorous training and workshops so we can see them as GMA's brightest stars this year. I don't think things changed with social media, the formula has been the same. We still don't know if it's better or worse, because it has given us more opportunities to enhance the progress of the artist, but also, there are some bad things about it. The system will stay the same, you have to look for the Spark, we try and work with them to complete that. It helps, but sometimes it's buwisit! (he kids)."

There's nowhere to go but up as you see these SPARKLE artists shine even brighter this 2022. Hope we get to talk to them more soon!

GABBI GARCIA Wishes to do GL Series with Sanya Lopez

She's an amazing model, vlogger, podcast host, and global endorser. She's one of GMA's prized dramatic and romance go to actresses and she's still making waves in several shows she's been part of, yes, she's Gabbi Garcia. I distinctly remember years ago when we got to talk to them about their passion and singing, she still does that but has now discovered so many facets of what she can do as a person, I guess love has something to do with it.

Her relationship with Khalil Ramos made her open up more. She didn't get to do video blogs in the past because she didn't know the technical stuff, the cameras to use, but Khalil was there to guide her through it. In a sense, I got the impression during the interview that they complement each other. Khalil was more reserved, an introvert, which is somewhat the opposite of what Gabbi is.  Now they also added a podcast, a mukbang vlog, which they will do regularly and it's a venue where they could show how they are in real life.

Gabbi also renewed ties with GMA, and one of the things she plans to do in the future is do a GL project (Girl Love). She wants to be paired with Sanya Lopez because she didn't want to be left behind as Khalil already has done a BL series. Aside from that, I asked her about wedding plans, and she says they do talk about it because it's the end goal. For now, they know their priorities and still have so many things to do as far as their career goes. In a nutshell, we've got so many things to look forward to in Gabbi's future shows, and she's just starting!

GLOBE Warms Hearts with #ChristmasWeLove Live Pop-Up

This year, we all experienced our ups and downs. The pandemic has made us all crazy and aware of what is happening around the world. We saw how we cared for each other, help out friends and family while we are all confined at the comfort of our homes. Globe knows how hard these days are, so they thought of something cool to do during this season. They just launched #ChristmasWeLove, a series of live digital pop-ups featuring fun activities designed to get the holiday spirit started in the Philippines. Oh yes, they were all good! This also feels like they're letting us experience Christmas even if we're all apart.

For starters, they did a Carol-oke Night with some of the greatest singers in the Philippines. They got Morissette, Darren Espanto, Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos to perform. Globe's Consumer Business Head Issa Guevarra-Cabreira says “This year may be a little tough, but we at Globe are trying to make holidays fun so we can feel the Christmas spirit. With our #ChristmasWeLove Live Pop-Ups, we hope to send each other love even at the comfort of our own homes”.

This event was all done on Globe's Facebook page and viewers were all encouraged to dedicate the numerous songs they had to their special someone. They also did a Holi-Game Showcase last December 4 for MMFF as they are a huge part of why the festival was also done this year. You can actually buy tickets via GMovies and it was very easy to actually do it. They also did a Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) themed Quiz Night last December 11 with some of the entries stars, it was so fun to watch them all online. There will be a K-Pop Kristmas event on December 21 so make sure you get to watch that too on their social channels. Gabbi Garcia, Khalil Ramos, Ben & Ben for LSS

Sat down with the stars of LSS, one of the entries this year for the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino. Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos are reel and real life partners, this comes in the prime of their careers and is at the perfect time to experience that dreamers do succeed. This is what they want you to feel.

Ben and Ben says "This is the first time that we’re having a blogcon and we didn’t know what it is. It almost never happened and more than that, we are so thankful to everyone we worked with because we are new at this. When the film rolls, we knew the value of pre prod, scoring, it is such a unique experience. We appreciated it more when we saw how dedicated Gabbi and Khalil. When we said yes, we got into an acting workshop, it wasn’t easy even if we were playing ourselves in the film. We overthink simple scenes and they do the heavy dramatic scenes, we saw them doing it again and we don’t know how they did it. We started here as a budding band, the timeline is aligned with our story and progressed until today. We related to their story instead of ours, we cried in one scene and you will love that.”

Khalil says “We were offered this last year, early 2018 so it’s almost a year. We didn’t know this would push through, when everything was in place and pitched to us, we didn’t know it was coming true, we are from different networks, but when the whole project and ben&ben and the producers came in, we felt really right. We fell in love with the characters right away. We did a workshop and we felt open about the challenges on cam, we prepared a lot before we shot it. Zach is on his way to profess love with his best friend but he was really a hopeless romantic, so he struggled. Their path crossed when Zach was singing a Ben&Ben song, that wad their LSS hence the story.”

Gabbi says “I thought it was all a rumor. The movie felt awkward in the beginning, I felt it was an advantage because we were not a loveteam, we were friends first and we used that part for the project, we felt we did a good job. I felt I had to fight for it and GMA was very considerate about what I wanted to do as an artist, it was a long process but all worth it! I play Sarah, an aspiring musician and is willing to do everything but she had priorities. For a time she didn’t believe in her dreams until Zach came.”

Jade Castro says “We met the band November last year and got them in the organic process of doing the film. We laid out the possible stories, they had a semblance of the story and casting them was a dream. There are very few options, but it was a great actor Khalil and Gabbi, even if we castes them separately. We wanted this to be his first music film. He did not have a music based film. Our dream was also doing this as one film industry, no networks, just them working together. We didn’t know Gabbi was okay but we did send our intentions."

The film will feature the songs Ride Home, Branches, Leaves, Kathang Isip, Bibingka, Fall, Maybe the Night, Mitsa, Araw Araw and Sunrise. Produced by Globe Studios, Dokimos Media Studios Inc and Ben&Ben.

Andrea and Khalil Shares Scary Stories for The Ghosting

Andrea Brillantes and Khalil Ramos will be frightening you in a few days (August 28). They’ll be starring in The Ghosting under Reality Entertainment.

Andrea shares “I am Grace, a college student and got approached by a girl I didn’t know. Then they warned me about it, too late. I have personal experiences in Taytay and I don’t know if my Yaya was fooling me, but I have seen and felt it in an abandoned house in Rizal. Even in ABSCBN they will go with you on elevators. I feel they are just around us. This is in house, no outside shots, so we were confined and I had to resort watching films that have the same feel. It was different than my previous projects. You will get it when you watch the movie. Most of the crew told us the place is really haunted, but we didn’t get to see one so we were a little disappointed. I have both treated horror and drama difficult because it’s emotions, this one is physical. I got thinner because of this movie. I also like gore, crying stuff, I am happy doing it. I hope people see how I work hard acting in both my TV dramas and this project.”

Khalil says “Ken is lonely, he was he one who helped Grace after getting curses. I investigated it, and it wasn’t an urban legend. He is also weird, he has the sixth sense I guess. The peg was to be a horror flick like The Shining etc but you will understand why the title of the film is that way when you see it. The title was already like this prior to that issue with other celebrities. For me to see is to believe but last night I have had felt something, heard it, someone sweeping the floor at 3am. Things like that made me really scared sometimes. This is my first horror movie, I like how they shot this. Coming into the project I was really excited because it became collaborative. We worked together to do the scenes well, it was different in horror films because you have to breathe differently while rolling. I am in the process of making a horror film, I have plans but I don’t want to watch it. Of course, in the future. As an actor I have a lot of challenges because you have to have played on skills, to be scared organically, I had to think of the actual kid scary, apply real life experiences to it even if I am working with actors, I think it is effective.”

Both have promising careers, and it looks like they have to balance passion. Khalil adds “I have been troubled to write songs and it is difficult to juggle things and write a two to three minute compelling song. I will be doing a lot of these things for the rest of my life.”

Again, The Ghosting will be showing on August 28. If you’re a fan of Andrea and Khalil, you must watch it, if you’re a fan of the genre, you need to watch it too. Will it be frightening as they say? You have to find out. No, you cannot have that little girl behind you watch it with you.

Andrea Brillantes and Khalil Ramos for The Ghosting

It looks like Reality Entertainment is giving us another reason to be afraid and wonder as they bring us this mystery-horror film called The Ghosting. It stars budding superstars Andrea Brillantes and Khalil Ramos.

The movie is set in an asylum and Andrea had to spend some time there. Pretty rough as you may understand but they had to do this for immersion’s sake. Khalil has definitely gone strides in making his mark as a quality actor after doing several indie films. You can say this is a little bit of everything, liken to the sudden disappearance of Grace Elizaga with the Solante urban legend. Khalil’s character Ken will to save her before it’s too late. Will they be able to do this without getting in danger? I doubt!

The Ghosting will be shown in cinemas on August 28, 2019. This is Directed by Joey de Guzman for Reality Entertainment.

Matteo, IC, Bernard and Kuya Kim for SRR XV - Flight666

As part of our Shake Rattle and Roll XV Flight 666 series, we're going to continue the interview we had with the other stars. This time we're going to talk a little more about the plot and the men in this film. Meet IC Mendoza, Kuya Kim Atienza, Bernard Palanca and Matteo Guidicelli.

Kuya Kim starts by telling us that this flight will have some tragedies, because only a few of them will live. Aside from that, you have the trouble of fighting the hijacker played by Bernanrd Palanca, a bomb inside the plane and some creatures that you'll have to see in the movie. Matteo, IC and Bernard did their own stunts too.

Kim Atienza says "I don't really do movies but I got a call from Roselle and she said if I wanted to appear in a movie. I said if ever I want to do something in a movie I wanted something different. I've always played "Kuya Kim", so when I got to the story conference, this time they gave me the role of "Kuya Tim" the trivia master. Still wearing the khaki shorts, shirt and hat. I'm happy because Kuya Tim will be important in this film because of his knowledge of trivia, he will be sort of a hero and would be able to land the plane. I'm the one who saves most of them."

Bernard Palanca plays the role of Baron. As you may know, this was supposed to be played by Baron Geisler. "It's a blessing, there's going to be some hijacking and I'm doing it. He's not an evil guy but he's just a guy who used to work for the airline. He got fired, wanted revenge. so he tried to get in control of the plane. He didn't know there was something else out there. You guys have to see the film because his character is colorful." says Bernard.

IC Mendoza is going to be very fun in this one. He's playing a gay guy so we're laughing profusely because he just might be getting typecasted for the role. He says "I play the role of Adam, he's gay so it's very challenging, I hope I get to do it well. We just got bumped off the other flight and I'm good friends with Kiray's character. We're stalking a 2 piece band played by Khalil and Yael Yuzon. I was already in that point where I'm getting irritated with Kiray because she's still pushing we follow them even if we have already been bumped off other flights. It's an uglier plane and we waited for hours and I found out there's a hijacker and other forces on this flight, plus a bomb, so imagine how frustrated I was playing a gay guy in this film" he jokes.

Matteo Guidicelli plays the role of Dave. He says "He's a doctor, he's a failure in his job especially giving birth, failure in his marriage too. Fortunately he ends up in a crashing plane with Lovi Poe. She's actually my ex wife. There will be a lot of things happening in this plane. The hijacking alone is a big issue with bad boy Bernard Palanca playing it. The creatures will come out and surprise us. There's going to be more drama and other things happening because this is not just going to be a horror flick. There's going to be a bit of comedy. drama, especially with Bentong, Betong and Kiray. We'll be landing the plane too but a lot of people will die, some may live. So you must watch out for that. It's very nice to share a scene who has never done it before so Lovi is really good in sharing. There's a small love angle, we're ex's so that will come to play."

Some of them are SRR virgins. Bernard and Kuya Kim specifically. When they got the news, they were ecstatic. IC has already done 4 already. He's even won Best Child Actor in his first one. It was really a good thing to be also working with other people from other networks. Bernard says "I've worked with some of them but I haven't worked with Lovi. It was so nice because the chemistry was there. It's so light to work with Direk Perci because he explains it so well. The nice thing about it is we get to shoot inside a real plane. It's tight but it's so good there. We feel so lucky to be part of it."

The last episode in SRR is usually the grandest. They are taking that part. You'll see a ton of stars in a flick that will only run a good 30/45 minutes. It's a highly emotional film filled with terror, some with creatures, you'll be scared but still you'll be more scared because they are contained in a flight so you can't escape. If you want to see something like this in Metro Manila Film Festival, get ready because you're going to be in on something special.

Khalil, Yael, Kiray, Betong and Bentong for SRR XV - Flight666

We're going to continue our Shake Rattle and Roll XV Flight 666 series with these interviews. We got Khalil Ramos, Yael Yuzon, Kiray, Betong and Bentong on this article. This episode is part of the Shake Rattle and Roll XV they are making for the Metro Manil Film Festival that will be shown this Christmas. Let's start!

Khalil Ramos

Khalil says "It's really overwhelming to be part of this movie. Growing up, I remember watching this every Christmas and now I'm part of it so it's so nice. This is my second MMFF movie, one of two that I did in the past. I play Gino and I'm part of a two man band with Yael of Sponge Cola who plays Ely in the film. I'm the one who holds the phone and camera inside the plane so it's like a Blair witch type of view when you watch it. You're filming everything on the plane so this is different. I think I'm my own cameraman. It's a flight movie but with a Pinoy twist so I'm sure everyone will find it fun. I watched SRR in the past, I remember Richard Gomez, Manilyn Reynes, the recent one with Kathryn. It's a big franchise and I'm happy to be part of it. It's really really nice. 

Lovi Poe for Shake, Rattle and Roll XV - Flight666

The holidays are fast approaching and sure enough part of the celebrations would entail taking your kids to the cinemas because it's also the time where the Metro Manila Film Festival 2014 comes out with the best movies this side of the world. As they say, MMFF won't be complete unless there's a Shake, Rattle and Roll movie in it. This is their 15th installment and we were lucky to have been able to go to their shoot a couple of days ago in Pasay City. The episode named Flight666 stars a couple of people from different networks. The whole movie was shot entirely on a real life airplane, a first in the Philippines and it wasn't easy.

Now imagine a huge airplane, but still it's a cramped space to put in a film crew, a couple of stunt coordinators and scaffolding for holding the actors harness. Aside from that, there wasn't enough air conditioning on the center of the plane, plus they spent hours there just to get the shots. The business class section was their refuge since they had air conditioning + reclined seats there.

Lovi Poe

It's been a while since we've talked to Lovi. We asked her about her experience doing this film under Regal and she gave us a tell all. "It feels good to have been able to work with Direk Perci Intalan. It's my first time, I love it because we didn't have to do other locations and we're confined in this plane. It's kinda convenient, I got to also work with a lot of actors and we get along really well . I'm with Matteo Guidicelli, Bernard Palanca, John Lapus, Yael Yuzon, Arlene Mulach, Kiray, Nathalie Hart, Ryan Bang, Ria Garcia, IC Mendoza, Khalil Ramos, Daniel Matsunaga, Kim Atienza, Betong and Bentong and a lot of other stars. It's a good thing and I'm really happy to at least get to work with other people from other network, I get to meet new people. When they gave me the script, I took it already. That was a long time ago. Working with Matteo, he's cool and funny. There's a love angle between me and him plus we get along really well. There's no awkwardness, a little shy at first but we are all relaxed. It's not hard for me to work here because I find it less stressful. I'm happy I got to be here with a stellar cast.

The story here is mostly focused with my relationship with him since we're ex's. We have a lot of things in the story that would be interesting, the battle between creatures, the battle with the people I'm with in the airplane. You'll try and find which actually is harder or what you need to deal with. Karen's character would be shown in different angles at the same time, that's how Director Perci Intalan works. I find Kiray in this movie really funny, she's the life of the set, even if we're working in the wee hours of the morning we still get to smile. We've been doing this since I was doing "Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real" so you can imagine how long we've been doing this. I didn't have that much stunts but it's cool that I get to do "Flight Stewardess" stuff. I got to do rescuing scenes since that's what they do. I love one scene in particular where almost all of us are here. The shot where the creatures would also come out is really good so I'm excited about it.

Lovi Poe also ventured into a new business, she's one of the owners of Cable Car in BGC. The place is doing good and she laments "We will have our grand opening soon, it's a good business venture and I love it. Before we would usually have to ask where we would hang out but now we just talk about time." She and buddy Rocco Nacino have been together for quite some time and these new things that they are trying out seem to be paying off. Rocco had been doing boxing promotions and she said "Yeah, he is and I love boxing. Although on this one, it's pretty hard seeing it live. Even if the Japanese guy was fighting, I was a little sad to see him getting beaten up like that live. It's different."

You know what, I love the fact that two of my favorite actors from GMA ended up together. I dig the things they share on Instagram too. I hope they would be able to do another project some day really soon. In the meantime, here she is inviting you to watch the movie!

Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo: She's Dating The Gangster

We were able to see Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Cathy Garcia Molina and Carmi Raymundo yesterday before the premier night of She's Dating A Gangster at the Star Cinema office in ABSCBN. It was a nice to see them after a long time and they've been going through morning shows before this happened. They were a little tired but they were still game to answer questions. I loved how Direk Cathy went on and joked about Daniel sleeping while in the blog conference... we laughed profusely about that. Kathryn Bernardo was a ray of sunshine. She was really pretty and I find that very appealing. This is why she's liked by millions of youngsters today. Putting them together in a project like this was just something bound to be successful. And I just learned they did 15 Million pesos on their first day! Isn't that amazing?

Bianca Bernardino, author of the book She's Dating A Gangster

This is also the first time that the author actually attended a blogcon and she was ecstatic to tell us the story behind the book. It has sold over 70.000 copies and has gotten around 600,000 readers through Wattpad. They also made a version of the book now with Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla on the cover which totally made the sales soar even more we were told. Nothing surprising though, I think them having bigger on screen appearances is now a norm!

Director Cathy Garcia Molina has several blockbusters in her belt

When asked about casting, Director Cathy Garcia Molina said that there were no other choices other than making this film all about Kathryn and Daniel. They were the perfect ones for the role and they thought about it immediately upon seeing the material. Without batting an eyelash she wanted to only see these two to play the role. Their on and off screen romance just speaks volume on how they would be able to make these roles believable... which I think actually came out good in the movie according to those who have watched it yesterday.

Then when Kathryn Bernardo was about to answer questions from us, you know what Daniel did? He removed the cable from the microphone and played with it. These guys are crazy and we find that very cute... undeniably, even if Daniel was a little bit naughty he often consoled Kathryn by being very touchy that afternoon. The small things, like stroking her hair... the little quirks he does like putting his head on her shoulder... if we're not aware, we would really thing that these two are already in a relationship. I'm sure Kathniel fans would love that!

They were quite aware of the "albularyo" comparisons on social media but it looks like they were even making jokes about it. Their roles Kenji and Athena will revolve around their unexpected love story. They will also involve the future and the past. This is where Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta's role come in later on in the movie. You'll love that part if you see the movie. I even saw people crying no joke. The movie also stars Khalil Ramos, Sofia Andres, Pamu Pamorada, Marco Gumabao, John Uy, Alex Diaz, Igi Boy Flores and Yana Asistio.

She's Dating a Gangster is shown in over 150 theaters nationwide and will tell you a story about love that encompasses time. Make sure you watch this 20th Anniversary offering of Star Cinema. I hear they are running a few weeks so make sure you get felt on social media as well. Star Cinema listens to your tweets and Facebook posts so make sure you do not miss this on theaters even if it's raining outside! Let's see if it can be the biggest blockbuster this year!
