Good Will is currently on it's 3rd season on Net 25. It's a sitcom that tells the life of Lloyd Patawad played by David Chua that's in the crossroads to choose between his passion being a rock artist and managing a resort he inherited from his mother.

Aside from that, his love life took a turn for the worse, as long distance relationships with Sarah starts and a new girl arrives. Will Tricia get to stir the pot?

Ownership of the resort on the other hand is super controversial, then food from the pantry goes missing, who is to blame? That's when they get a surprise when they discover the culprit! Is Mina a team player or is she a foe? This is just part of the things that viewers will find out in future episodes!

This show is produced by ALV Productions, Viktory 8 Media Inc., and Dark Carnival Productions. Show starts this coming October 8 at 4PM. Make sure you join the fun, the crazy rivalry and relationships right after Korina Interviews (another hit show on the channel).

Some Good Duru Bulgur from The Goodwill Market

Wednesday, August 03, 2022

Going to the market is a little arduous these days but I had to do it during the most difficult times in our lives, the pandemic. One of the few discoveries I've had during that time was a welcome treat, it's called Bulgur. It is cracked wheat grain that's known to be more nutritious than white rice. It's got twice more fiber content which makes it also better for diabetics (like me) who want to control our blood sugar levels.

I've had the chance to eat this quite a lot in hotels but it wasn't that conveniently available in Philippine markets. I also don't know how to cook it other than just mixing veggies and protein (and a bouillon cube on some occasion). It's very filling and satisfying, plus it tastes great. I was wondering what other recipes could be cooked with it, but here goes the good people from The Goodwill Market showing me how it's done.

In Ilocos, there's a very little known noodle dish called Pansit Lusay. I'm quite familiar with it as I've spend quite a while in the region. The Goodwill Market is sharing this recipe with Bulgur to show how easy it is to make dishes out of it.

 Here are the ingredients:

1 cup of Duru Bulgur (Coarse Bulgur)
½ cup of tomatoes chopeed and seeds taken out
½ cup of onions thinly sliced
1 can Tuna
2-4 tbsp Bagoong Ilocano
Pinch of Black pepper
Salt to taste

Put Duru Bulgur in a rice cooker and wash it first. Cook til it gets fluffy or according to package instructions. Take it out of cooker and scrape with fork onto a tray then put in the fridge to chill. In another container, put tomatoes and onions together, drain the tuna from the can and mix together. Combine it with the Bulgur and treat this like a cold salad. Pour Bagoong Ilocano, salt and pepper to taste.

This is certainly full of vitamins, minerals, Omega 3, and is an excellent alternative to rice, noodles or pasta. Think about the things you could do with this in soups, salads, Filipino or international dishes that would usually include rice or noodles, using Duru Bulgur was really an eye opener for me and it's been something that I add to any dish if I want to make it a little more healthy. Plus even if you put a little, it's already filling. Plus it can be sent to your home via The Goodwill Market. You can visit their website at https://goodwill.market/. They also have different healthy organic products you should try if you're into healthy stuff. They also have cleaning products, some for the skin, even coffee for those who are choosy. You don't have to travel to other countries to get it, it's all at The Goodwill Market.

Don't take my word for it, you got to try if it fits your taste!

The Good Doctor, The Resident on the Fox+ App

Sunday, September 30, 2018

Hey couch potatoes! How you doin?

Well, I’m here to give you good news. I’m sure if you have cable TV you’ve seen some commercials each time a show takes a break, it’s all about The Good Doctor or The Resident. I have seen the whole season of The Good Doctor and mind if I tell you, Freddie Highmore is just so good playing the part of a medical doctor that’s got autism. They explained it well on how he makes every case a detailed discovery and how he as a genius continue to practice the profession and prove those who doubt him wrong.

The Resident on the other hand talks about office politics and how it could affect the community. It stars Matt Czuchry who also starred in one of my favorite series Gilmore Girls (and The Good Wife). It would be a very interesting story to tell if the operations of a new Chastain Park Memorial Hospital falls in his hands. Will he be goody two shoes or will he be doing an overhaul and manage it in his style or will this be a different story.

If you wanna watch, download the Fox+ App on Google Play and the App Store now and subscribe. You can also try it out for a month if you are first time users. I downloaded the episodes so even when I’m offline I could still watch it while travelling.

Tasty Dumpling in Binondo

Saturday, January 02, 2016

We braved the streets of Manila again to get to Binondo, one of the city's great food destinations. I rode the MRT2 which is bigger and wider compared to the sardine can like MRT3 in Edsa. It's pretty convenient, but like any public transportation you must be reminded to take care of your belongings since there are a lot of crooks when traveling here.

It's nice and roomy, and the coaches look good too as they've got advertisers covering them up as moving billboards. Like this one with AlDub on them!

Which I know you'll find cute too. After going down on the Recto station, I rode a jeep to Divisoria. I never bought anything the first time I shopped there and unfortunately, I didn't find anything interesting again so I went right across the street and walked a bit further to the Binondo district where most restaurants were still open even on holidays.

I saw a small bridge in the middle (I forgot the name) but it made me cross the street easier and didn't have to go around the area. There was also a small dumpling seller on the street right after this which I'm going back to soon. It's cheaper I think and most of the Chinese people in the area bought their dumplings there too. I will go back definitely.

I was gearing towards having dinner in Eng Bee Tin the famous hopia shop which consequently also had their own Chinese restaurant too right beside it. I bought hopia, peanut ampao, white tikoy and corn tikoy for take out then walked a little more towards the Binondo Church.

It was a little funky there because they had horses manure and piss on the road which I think should be something the local government should probably do something about. This is the San Lorenzo Ruiz Minor Basilica. Then there's a nice spot across the street.

The Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz is nice but there were tons of street kids that would spoil the view, they'll keep asking you for change so don't do that as they'll get used to it. I saw some of them using rugby, not a good thing..

Anyway, I walked on the left side of the church and saw Tasty Dumpling. It's not my first time because I've been to their Banawe branch, but first time here in Binondo. It's a bit small, can fit around 20-30 people and most locals have dinner or lunch here I think. They have a huge sign not to bring BAON because students probably do that on regular days LOL!

I ordered two drinks. One is the Wintermelon Juice (that tastes like sago without the actual sago part) and the best seller Dalandan Juice (which tastes like the fruit, a little tangy but sweet).

I also got two types of dumplings. The original one is just pork, the other is called Kuchai which means it's pork and spring onions on it. They have light soy and vinegar plus home made chili which you can dip the dumplings into. Make sure you eat it while it's hot because it's just gonna be better.

For those looking for something filling, Tasty Dumpling has the BEST Pork Chop. It's served as Pork Chop Rice with  some really good sweet and savory sauce over it. It's like the Taiwanese pork chop but I guess it's their version. It's huge too and probably good to share. If you're a bit hungry, I suggest you order more rice from their menu as they've got that too. Service was also fast, they got my order fixed in as short as 5 minutes I think. How's that for fastfood no?! They are located at 960 Ongpin Street right beside Binondo Church so you wouldn't really miss it.

I want to see more hole in the wall restaurants in my next posts. Stay tuned for that. As for now, I'd like to wish you guys a very happy new year! Thank you for reading this and thank you also for making my 2015 a good one. Let's make 2016 even better!

Ciao!

The Plight of a Mall Security Guard

Thursday, June 18, 2015

It was Independence day when I was writing this piece. I thought about the men and women out there who are still working even if it's a holiday. Small things, may likely feel nothing to us. I feel though that we should be thanking these people who still take the time to serve us in times when they could have been just resting at home. Have you ever said "thanks" to an SM Mall security guard?

These men and women put themselves out there, they get paid salaries just like the rest of us but think about it... they're actually protecting us from bad elements while inside the mall. The amount of money they actually get in one day cost around 20 thousand Philippine pesos to 2 thousand dollars yet they go the mile and return it to their respectable owners. They barely are even seen by the public and can always take it for themselves, but they chose to give it back to their proper owners or surrender it to mall administration instead. Isn't that a selfless act? Shouldn't that be something to be proud of? Even if sometimes they get smirks and bad comments from mall goers they still do it out of their own will. They're not just serving the mall, they're practically serving you too! Their integrity, is just insurmountable. You would be proud about if you knew about the amount of mobile phones, gadgets and things they find and return in a single day. They just want to make sure the next time you shop, you won't find gang members, pickpockets, shoplifters and bad men inside it as well.

SM prides itself in making security a top priority. They also have made arrangements recently to honor some of them in ceremonies at SM Skydome a few weeks ago. Arrests, apprehensions were also possible because of them so it was a nice thing they were honoring these men for doing a good job, for keeping us safe during mall hours. In behalf of everyone, I'd like to say thank you to Mr. Jayred C. Martin, Mr. Norberto S. Bautista, Jr., Mr. Angelito P. Fuentes, Mr. Dominador O. Apawan, Mr. Lourince Z. Olog, Mr. Dexter P. Gadot, Mr. Melvin O. Muramatsu, Mr. Rowell R. Condolon, Mr. Oliver M. Maramag and Mr. Ramon P. De Leon for going beyond their duty and helped SM, the people and ordinary Juan's community safe all these years. They also have in their own way helped different communities that they visit through SM Cares.

The next time you go to a mall, say "Thank You" to show how much you appreciate their work the next time they need to check your things going inside the mall. They deserve every bit of that and it would be good to make mall security officers feel how thankful you are as they keep the place safe no matter when, where and whatever it takes. Their lives are on the line most of the time, so isn't that too small of a favor? We at least owe them that.

I'm Enjoying My Tough Backpack From OUTDOOR PRODUCTS!

Monday, March 31, 2014

Just got this pack from Urbanize: Supplies for Urban Life with stores located at Gateway Mall and Shangrila Mall. I was surprised to find out what was inside but the note on the pack probably summed it up.

Got so excited seeing it was about bags. Aside from shoes, this is my next kryptonite. I still have some bags in my closet that I haven't used because I didn't want them to get damaged. This one already says that they're going to be TOUGH. So I did the next best thing and took it out of the paper bag.

OMG it's OUTDOOR Products! How can you not love this backpack?! The material is so tough nobody could probably tear this apart with their bare hands. Aside from that, this thing still work with the classic school backpack design. It won't be too bulky, but it's got room enough to fit your stuff like clothes, books or gadgets. I was actually also fond of seeing those straps on the zippers because it'll make opening or closing your bag really easy. You can also see that the color is bright and the textile they used on this isn't cheap. I can tell just by touching it.

It's also well made because on a quality standpoint I'm not seeing any defects on the nooks and crannies of this bag. It's all so clean and probably passed international standards. I'm not surprised though because in the few years that I've known this brand, they're on a league of their own. That, and the price is so reasonable unlike some brands on the same quality level but costs an arm and a leg literally. I'm loving this Vintage Day Pack!

I've also checked out their 2014 Spring-Summer catalogue and amazingly found more backpacks in really cool designs plus some in ultra suede bottoms. You'll get that weathered effect and dirt won't stick to the bag for all the right reasons. It won't be dirty fast.

It seems that I've got this bag on the bag! It's a Basic Daypack model and they've got it in different colors. If you want something basic that's also got so much room for your stuff, then I highly suggest you get this one!

For those that often go to the gym, this one is perfect. It's their Boston Bag that's available in different dimensions. Get the biggest one so you can fit your workout clothes, shoes and toiletry so you can shower after a game or gym time.

There are also some bigger bags available in stores. Don't worry ladies because you also have some handbags that are well crafted and styled with you the user in mind.

OUTDOOR PRODUCTS are available at Duty Free Fiesta Mall, Fashion Rack (Baguio, NAIA 3, Subic), Landmark Makati and Trinoma, Lonely Planet, Robinsons Department Store (Abreeza Mall, Calasiao, Ermita, Galleria, Magnolia, Palawan, Pampanga), Rustans (Alabang, Gateway, Makati, Tower), SM (Davao, Las Pinas, Lipa, Makati, North Edsa and Pampanga) and Tripologie (Alabang, Bonifacio High Street, Tripologie East Wood).

Now that there's more places where you can get these wonderful bags from, make sure your next purchase of a school or everyday bag comes from OUTDOOR PRODUCTS. I'm enjoying mine right now and I'll take it around for a spin in events. This will house my camera and gadgets. Hope yours become an everyday thing too. ^_^

3M and Good Housekeeping Good Ideas Workshop

Good Housekeeping Good Ideas Workshop

The good people who make those excellent Post It's 3M Corporation Philippines and Good Housekeeping Magazine publisher Summit Media held a workshop entitled Good Ideas last July 30 at the event place of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City. They brought along health, style and design experts along so people there would learn a thing or two about how to keep their homes organized, make it spick and span. I learned a couple of things too!

Dr. Patricia Santos-Abes is an Allergologist and head of the Allergy and Immunology Section of the Asian Hospital. She gave a lot of tips on how to keep the home and your family safe from allergens which causes countless diseases. Cleaning up and making sure you have some things that could filter your air were some of the few things she showed beneficial to everyone's health. Samples of what bad microbes and disease causing bacteria could do were shown to the public in that event. I took note on some of the obvious things but learned more about the products that could help eliminate the possibilities of me getting sick in the long run. There were also lessons about how pets can also carry these elements and made sure everyone knows how it would affect home owners if they keep these four legged family members inside the home. She gave some tips how to use Filtrete for Air Conditioning units and told us how it could do a lot of things for our health by improving indoor air quality and ventilation. That's just smart!

Also in that event was Johanna Victoria Acab - Faustino who is the Principal designer of Ideal Interior Design Services. Aside from being an Interior Designer, she's a well decorated herself LOL! She's a Cum Laude, graduated from UP Diliman and ranked third overall in the licensure exams 1998. Pretty and stylish, she made a great presentation about how people can simply get their simple homes jazzed up with a couple of style ideas and organize it with small knickknacks from 3M particularly the damage free hanging solutions from Command and the furniture savior Scotch Gard. We were also treated to some of her tips on storage solutions and how to maximize space. We also were shown how to get things together and how to achieve the real eclectic look. It's not a mumbo jumbo; but a pretty simple concept and a design philosophy. Pretty neat!

The event was hosted by Ms. Issa Litton-To. Beautiful isn't she?!

People who attended the event also participated in the games prepared by the organizers.
They won a lot of 3M products! Congratulations!

3M Corporation Philippines is starting off it's advocacy on home space management in the country and their solutions are phenomenal! Congratulations on holding a wonderful event!

Capisce?!

Good Friday!

Friday, April 02, 2010

Galera perhaps?! LOL

Okay it is officially Black Friday. I have nothing to do today and the rest of the metro is closed. Establishments, malls, buildings, government offices.... but not me! I have work today LOL.

I plan to drink out with friends later but it looks like it would be blasphemous to do that. People might stare at us on the streets when we are merrymaking while Christ is kinda dead. Something like that comes up when conservative people come by. I can't even have a decent meal because I am carnivorous. It is prohibited to eat meat these days and I am unfortunately allergic to shellfish. I wouldn't want to eat that and have asthma the day after. I scratch my face crazily and that would spell marks on my face. That would not be a pretty sight to see.

Oh and as I'm writing this I still have no plans in mind. But I think I'll just go home for now. See you guys later! I have some errands to do for Mom first before I can go out anywhere I want to. Why didn't I plan to go to a beach today?! Hm... lemme think about that later! :)

CHARICE performs at Good Morning America

Friday, November 21, 2008

Now this 16yo phenom from the Philippines is still making waves in the United States. With her performances here and around North America, she now has this performance in Good Morning America which is a very popular morning TV show in the US. This also has international distribution so people around the globe will be seeing this much like Oprah. I kinda am not impressed by the arrangement because she could have done other songs or something better. A younger more powerful song would have worked. But I still love her just the same ^_^

Let's watch this O_O:
