We found OIL in the Philippines!

Thursday, October 09, 2008

Oil facilities off the coast of Palawan, Malampaya (above) which produces natural gas and Galoc oil field which just refined Palawan Light Crude today. (below)

I was watching DZMM Teleradyo a while ago... I was laughing with the antics of Ogie Diaz and Ahwell Paz's radio show "Talakan". Things suddenly stopped for a breaking news and then a live footage from Malacañang, Secretary Eduardo Ermita announced in behalf of the President the discovery of millions of gallons of oil on Galoc oilfield in Palawan, on the Southern tip of Luzon Philippines. This is one great step in alleviating our country's dependence on other OPEC member states for our daily consumption.
See those golden parts on the map? They're said to be rich with you know what! ^_^

“The President is optimistic that this new development will positively impact on the administration's efforts to reduce the country's annual oil importation of US $6 billion, and in turn will also contain the increasing cost of food and other commodities" said Ermita. This is very good news for you and me, those who lived their whole life in this country... at least we have a place to start. They even mentioned that there are unchartered parts in the same area that may produce more as expected. This is going to be called "PALAWAN LIGHT CRUDE" where its first extraction was made at 10:45 a.m. Thursday and was put on transit at 11:20 a.m. to be brought to local oil refineries.

This in turn will increase output of Gasoline which we once thought was not available in our part of the world. Now we can tell em cartels to wait and see if we discover more! Weee!
